So i just submitted my secondary... copied from word to notepad to the secondary.
Everything looked fine... i proofread.
I submitted.

On the review of my app there were large spaces between words....... it looked like someone went to my essays and hit enter randomly line after line!!!!!!!!

******* *** **********

spent so long on this secondary and now it looks like a second grader went to town on it before submitting.....

Is there anything to do?
i know now to type out manually for future secondaries but... should i call the school?

Thanks!

This is honestly really annoying that my status hasnt changed yet while people submittinttg wo weeks after me have ii's (congrats to you guys) but im just sayinnn

I'm a reapplicant here and tbh I don't think it has anything to do with priority. Last year my app was put on hold relatively quickly and I never got a II. This year I've just been on "complete" for about a week and half. Don't read into it too much, GW interviews many and they start early. Just my .02

Placed on hold. Complete 7/8; LizzyM 75; This is discouraging, but I hope to see you all real soon in DC

Placed on hold today. Was complete on 7/2. Not sure what this actually means, but it seems other people on hold ended up getting IIs. Hoping for the best.

I'm with you in the hope department? Maybe its the default when they start reviewing an application? I'm gonna keep telling myself that till the bitter end.

ok so people who submitted later than me are getting status updates. I am convinced this is not a "rolling" process but one where they organize applicants by MCAT to see who they view first.

rant complete

What was your mcat score?

Nah I think it's just random, I have a 38 mcat with a low gpa and they haven't gotten to my app either yet.

Hey all,

Did any of you receive a "your application is now complete" e-mail? I submitted my secondary on 6/30 but only received a fee confirmation email. Also, the online app says I'm on hold so it could just be they don't send complete emails out and mark it online (and I'm worrying over nothing).

I would add that I'm antsy as well about the hold and I don't think there's any rhyme or reason to it that can be worked out by applicants. I have an MCAT score between 34-36, and a GPA between 3.6 and 3.8 (vague just in case they're reading).

I never received a complete email. I submitted on 6/30 as well and was put on hold around 7/4... received an II on 7/11. I don't think there is much of a rhyme or reason to all of this, so try not to worry about it!

Agreed! I think a lot of this is a crapshoot for pretty much all applicants--there's just no way to tell which schools will pan out. Congrats on the II and thanks for the kind reply!

Could you potentially get an II with only 2 of your 4 recommendation letters in? Or would my application be considered incomplete?

Just want to get SDN's ideas of my current situation...

I applied straight out of UG and was interviewed (November, end) and was waitlisted (January, middle).

Since then, I will have received my master's degree in chemistry, beefed up my EC (by A LOT), written better essays, gotten two publications (one cover-featured).
In addition, my three LOR's from graduate school are from my research advisor (mentor) (very strong LOR), dean of academics, and head of the biochemistry department.
Furthermore, I scored well on the first MCAT, but my VR was the weak link. So, I studied for the MCAT again and improved my verbal to a solid score.

Do you think that is enough to push me into the accepted pool? I ask because about one week ago (less if not including weekends) I was put "on hold".

Cheers and thanks!

It certainly sounds like you have a better chance at acceptance this cycle. Of course, we don't know your exact stats (and even if we did, no crystal ball), but if you were interviewed and waitlisted pre-master's, publications, etc., I think you'll have a solid shot. The only reason you wouldn't be is if your interview was what did you in and you basically gave the same interview over again, but it doesn't sound like that was the case.

Well, this is a pre-interview hold, like many others have been on. I should have been more clear about that, my apologies.

As anyone gotten an interview without being placed on hold?

This isn't that crazy. Schools sometimes know right away that they want to interview someone and sometimes they are unsure and so don't give you a decision yet.

Yes, and also the GW hold is a blind hold. Just bc you're on hold doesn't guarantee that you will get an II...was on hold for 2-3 months last cycle

Does anyone know how receptive GW is to in the area letters? I'll be interviewing at Georgetown in September and I'd like to save another flight all the way from Arizona to DC.

first ii!!! 3.6/28 here's some hope for the underdogs out there. also when I checked my status it never said i was on hold. just said something like i was complete

Grats! Just wondering, are you an in-state applicant? Sorry if you've already answered the question. I'm still waiting on my application to be verified unfortunately 🙁

Best of luck on the interview though 🙂

Thank you! And nope I'm OOS.

More likely to get ii..
I might be wrong but it looks like a lot of people here who got II were on hold first. I didn't get an e-mail when they first put me on hold so maybe some people who got II didn't even notice that they were on hold temporarily.

Not saying you are wrong, but my n=1 experience was no hold for a fact. I checked my status daily, and my status still showed complete even AFTER I received the II. It did finally change to the interview status update later in the day, but I was never on any other status but complete & under review. Anyways, I agree that hold is not a bad thing. It' s also not necessarily a good thing, just another spot. Plenty of people on here (the first interviews in fact) were given to people with this hold status. There is no way to know what may come of any of it, so there is no need to rack your brain over it. Control what you can, don't stress about the things you cannot.

hi all, i have a quick question regarding the # of letters for GW. On the website, it says the 3 minimum but i cant seem to find the maximum number allowed. On MSAR, it says maximum is 5 - is that true? Thanks!

I submitted 4 so hopefully it's okay haha. But as long as you meet the required 3 I'm sure you can submit an extra 2

Long time lurker here, but wanted to pass this along for others like me. Just got an II here! OOS 3.7, 27 mcat - it can be done! As of this morning, I was not on hold so take that as you will. Good luck to everyone!! esp all those other sub-30's out there

I have been on hold for a week now and still no news 🙁 has anyone on hold recently received an II?
