2014-2015 Rosalind Franklin University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Yeah, I received a confirmation too even though after I submitted, the screen told me to reapply after 1/2

That's what happened to me as well. After I submitted, the website said: "Thank you for your interest in Student Housing at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. The application process has not started yet for the May and August Academic programs. We will officially start accepting online applications 1/2/15. Please resubmit your application at this time".

so we're okay then? I resubmitted like 4 times -_- woops. really want that on campus housing!

Does anyone know if we need to fill out the housing application quickly? Or can we wait to see if there is someone that we want to be roommates with?
+1 anyone have any idea about this??

I'll be heading back to O'Hare after the 1/21 am interview session in a rental if anyone needs a ride. Please PM me.

Does anyone have an idea of when the committee will meet for interviews that were held the beginning of December?

So I received the complete/under review email back in mid-September, and haven't heard much else. Is anyone else in the same position? Is there any way to check our status besides emailing admissions?

+1

Rejected pre-interview just now. OOS and my stats are fairly average. Ahh well I was not expecting much at this point so it's just good to hear something from them finally. Good luck to everyone still in the running for this school!

Me too

Sorry about the rejections guys. Do you mind sharing your complete dates?

"Your application is currently complete and under review with the Admissions Committee. Please allow 4-6 weeks for us to send you an email with an update regarding the status of your application. We appreciate your patience during this time."

Found a typo in their 'complete' email...they accidentley wrote 4-6 weeks where they meant 4-6 months! Boy, I bet they're embarrassed...

I just got the complete email yesterday. And it said "please allow 8-10 weeks" for an update. so, pretty much, they will update me with a rejection when the cycle is over?

I called admissions yesterday. I was complete in early Sept and they just began screening on Dec 16th. Takes 8-10 weeks. With the sheer volume it takes them awhile to get to apps. They'll be interviewing into the spring however

Hey everyone,

I submitted my application a while ago and haven't heard back in a long time (I'm a Canadian). I've been offered 2 interviews elsewhere but I still want to interview at as many places possible. I'd love to be interviewed here but I'm losing hope. Should I send a letter of interest?

Hey! I interviewed early Dec. I have a deposit coming up but CMS is my top choice. Wondering if it's acceptable to explain my situation to get a more clear-cut answer on when I can expect an answer to try and avoid the other deposit? Money's tight after secondaries/interviews, etc. Or should I just patiently wait and suck it up? Lol.

Call them and explain your situation

I would suck it up if it's your top choice.

Anyone who interviewed around Dec 15th remember how long they said until we'd hear something?

Ask and you shall receive I guess, just got an email saying I was placed on the alternate list. Does anyone know from previous years how much movement occurs on the alternate list?

Literally also just got placed on alternate list -- would love to know how much movement occurs throughout the year at CMS....?

From what I've heard, quite a bit of movement. I wouldn't construe the alternate list as a death sentence for CMS.

Hold as well. Also interviewed Dec 15th. Guess it's more waiting...

Edit: Actually, mine says "on hold" and will be evaluated at regular intervals. Alternate list and on hold are different?

I copied and pasted this next line directly from the email I received.
At this time, the Admissions Committee has reviewed your application and placed you on the Alternate list.
Was your email similarly phrased?

Mine was worded the same.

I think they're different then. Here's the wording for mine:
Upon recommendation of the Chicago Medical School Admission Committee, your application for admission has been placed on hold.
A hold status means that the committee has neither accepted nor rejected your application for admission at this time, but will continue to be evaluated at regular intervals.

i interviewed in early dec but havent heard back yet...

has anyone else who interviewed early in december not heard back yet?

There seems to be a TON of alternate list people. I'm hoping this means that CMS will just take more from it throughout the cycle...?

I got put "on hold" as well post interview 12/10. What is the difference between the alternate list and "on hold"? Anyone?

My impression is that those on the alternate list are on their version of a wait list since the wording in the emails is different. My guess would be that the hold means that they have not yet put your application into either accepted, rejected, or alternate list. That is my guess, if anyone hears directly from the school regarding this please let me know. thanks.

This is going off of my reasoning, as is by no means how CMS defines it:

Alnernate list: true wait list. Will begin to pull students to fill class towards end of app cycle

Hold: no man's land. Haven't decided anything yet. Not accepted, rejected, or put on an alternate list. Will revisit app again soon

The hold sounds more dynamic that the alternate list. They could conceivably do just about anything with u (accept, reject, or wait list)

Both are effectively waitlists. Until you have that hot little acceptance letter in your e-mail inbox, nothing has changed after the interview.

Anyone think there's hope to be pulled off the alternate list earlier in the process, such as February to April? Instead of May to August? Would go in a heartbeat but will be tough for my spouse to find a job if it's very last minute. Then again, even if I were accepted last minute I wouldn't be complaining. I just would want to know if it's unheard of to be off the waitlist earlier on.
