2014-2015 Rosalind Franklin University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Thank you, everyone, for your advice! So many different opinions! Lol, now I'm confused as to when I should start heading to the airport.

Follow the advice of the people saying it's taken them two hours. When in doubt, take the safest route.

Similarly, does anyone know if there is a usual turn-around time post-interview?

I was told 3-4 weeks at my interview (mid-November) but then got an email after the interview that said 4-6 weeks. I'm guessing the adcom meets sometime in December and hopefully we hear after that.

I still haven't heard anything, and I'm at about 3 weeks.

After already sending in my deposit 😕, I've decided that I'm withdrawing. Good luck to all!

Does anyone know if they are receptive to "In the Area" emails? If so, who do you send it to or where do you submit it? I will be nearby in two weeks and submitted my secondary about a month ago. Thanks!

Not receptive to pre-interview emails of any kind.

I was accepted too today (interviewed in the middle of October)! However, I can't seem to access the link in the email to indicate my acceptance. Did you have the same problem?
Yes had the same problem! I emailed them about it, but haven't heard back. Congrats!!

I just tried the link and it doesn't seem to work for me either. I might send them an email later about this issue.

Is the deposit refundable or non-refundable? On the top of the Declaration of Intent page, it says that the deposit is refundable, but at the bottom when hovering my mouse over the accepting an offer choice, a box pops up saying that the deposit is non-refundable... I am so confused.

this might be a dumb question but for those of you who have attended morning interviews, is the interview the first thing you do when you get there by 8? or is it towards the end of the day? Thanks in advance!

First you have a short orientation. Then the interviewees are broken up into 3 groups and each group rotates through a tour, the MMI, and a financial aid meeting. So it could be early on or towards the end. It just depends.

Does anyone know since it's so cold now, do the tours still take us outside? If so, do we just carry our coats with us at all time?

Has anyone made a Facebook group?

Just to let you know, the admissions department will create an official Facebook group later in the year. Administrators will be present at first but will bow out gracefully once school starts.

By the way, congratulations to everyone who's been accepted! There are a few current students in the thread that I want to encourage you to contact if you have questions.

I'm an M3, so I can hopefully answer some of your questions about rotations, Step 1 prep (survived it!), and generally making the transition to living in the city of Chicago.

@PizzaFactory is an M2, so he can answer all of your questions about how his first two years are going and some of the recent changes that have occurred to the campus infrastructure.

@eliezer1510 is an M4, and he's also happy to field questions. I think he's around, but who knows? M4's are elusive creatures. He knows everything, and he's wonderful, so feel free to pop over any questions to him as well.

Please use us! We're happy to put you in touch with our friends in other classes as well as the few recent alumni we know who might have some insight.

Congratulations again on having a (hopefully) much more relaxing application season now that you have an acceptance!

Hi has anyone sent a thank you letter or email after interviewing?
I sent a hand written thank you note to one of the interviewers I spoke with at the social and one to the admissions office. I was accepted, although I doubt the thank you note held much weight! (but it can't hurt!)

I interviewed here, It was my first MMI interview and I think I totally blew it. My nervousness was super transparent and obvious. It really sucks cause I really wanted to attend school here.

Yeah like I always wondered how much does the thank you letter REALLY help you get that acceptance😕

received the complete email July 18, Primary Screening Complete Email Sept 16... still no word on my app. Anybody else like that?
Same here :/
Hope there are still a good handful of interview spots left. I really want to go to this school!!

I've been in the primary screening phase since 9/26...I haven't received any correspondence from RFU since they sent me a "complete" email. Anyone else in this boat? Is the primary screening complete email the same as the regular complete email?

Just ignore all emails unless you get an interview invitation. An interview invitation is all that matters.

Judging from the number of times you've had to say this, this should be stickied on the first page. 🙂

With any luck, you guys will start chiming in for me! That's the hope, anyway. Repeat after me: ONLY INTERVIEWS MATTER. ONLY INTERVIEWS MATTER.

Did anyone who interviewed here know how to send thank you notes to all the MMI interviewers? Or would one to the Office of Admissions suffice?

For those who have been accepted, do we need to send in transcripts? All I did was submit the deposit and the intent/standards thing.

Very sadly withdrawing my interview here for some personal reasons. I was scheduled for the end of January. I was excited to attend my interview but MAN can I say that after multiple phone conversations this was one of the worst admissions offices to work with.

If you're withdrawing anyway, please send them an email with your feedback!
