2014-2015 Tufts University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If you don't mind my asking, for when are they scheduling now? Did it look like there were many/few dates left?

Sure! Next available date is Feb. 3! Looks like there's several slots available that month and the next.

Whyyyy is flying so expensive. I am interviewing here in January, any one who interviewed care to tell me what it is like?

The day starts around 9:45am. You'll get a welcome from the dean and then hear some presentations about curriculum, research, fin aid, etc. You'll then have lunch and some ms1/2 will eat with you and you can ask them questions. Then the group is broken up and you'll either get a tour with some ms4's or have your interviews.
Interviews are ~30 minutes with a 10-15 minute break in between. You then switch activities.

As for expense, flights are flights. But for lodging, a bunch of out-of-towners stayed at the Boston Hostel literally across from the med school. If you do a shared dorm room, it's like $45, or a private room for $100. I did priceline "name your price" and stayed at the Park Plaza (10 minute walk) for $90.

I stayed at the Boston Hostel. I highly recommend it. It's clean and quiet plus you get to meet cool people that stay there. I roomed with guys from Brazil, Argentina, Ireland and Korea. Aside from Tufts, the hostel was the highlight of my experience.

Are people being accepted into the Maine track or the regular one?

Has anyone found/ know anything regarding what usually happens to deferred applicants? i.e. is it a de facto wait list status, or are they actively considered for admission through the spring months?

I'm wondering the same thing. I was deferred in early December and have heard nothing since. I sent a letter of interest through the Tufts applicant portal about two weeks ago.

Can anyone who knows someone who was deferred in years past give any insight?

Accepted Maine Track yesterday! Anyone know if there's a Maine Track facebook group or a general Tufts 2019 group?
Howdy,
I was accepted in October. Been wondering about this. I called the admissions office to ask if they create a facebook page and they said they didn't but that students had made their own in the past. I don't think one exists yet but I would be interested in joining if one were to exist...

Tufts is one of my top choices right now so I'd definitely be interested in joining a facebook page so we should make one. If someone doesn't make one in the next few days, I'll take some time to create the group when I get home from Christmas break. It'd be sweet to meet some potential classmates!

Has anyone started their financial aid application? I want to get mine done asap but they ask for my tax return and the gov doesn't even start processing returns until late January.. Thoughts?

You can submit your FAFSA using estimates based on your 2013 filings and then update the form after you get your tax return from this year.

this is a random question, but i was just lurking around the secondary application site and under the last tab "user options," there's a "more information tab. it tells you to enter in your ssn, but when i did it for ****s and giggles, it prompted an "are you sure" pop up...does anyone know what this is???

Woah that's strange.

Anyone else get financial aid info from tufts last week?

II received on 12/17!!! Scheduled for 2/3/2015. My app was complete in August, I thought I was rejected for sure. This is one of my top choices and I am looking forward to this interview, I just hope that they haven't already filled up the class.

Interview tomorrow for the regular track ... Any last minute tips???

Be yourself. As the dean will tell you, they already think you have what it takes academically, so they are looking at you as a person. Enjoy it and then after go grab a drink at Jacob Wirth across the street.

Heyy I've been complete since September and I haven't heard anything. Is anyone else in that situation?

Just got an II for Maine Track! Maine resident, complete late July and interviewed for regular track in September. First interview date available was 2/27

Oof sorry to hear this. Boston is pretty cold this time of the year anyhow! Question though- did you receive an email or was it just through portal? I am awaiting my rejection as well
