2015-2016 Duke University Application Thread

Am I totally screwed if I literally just finished and submitted my secondary?

It is a disadvantage but you are not "totally screwed". DukeMed operates a non-rolling admissions system.

Hey guys, my gf just had her interview here last week and was wanting to send an update letter. She couldn't find any instructions or limits of updates she could send. Anyone have any recommendations?

Prior years they did not accept updates, but they have changed that this year. So, I would submit it.

I just contacted the admissions office and they said no one is able to schedule right now so not to worry! They said that the site won't update until around mid-October, unfortunately, so to check back then for more interview dates.

The wait is too real right now

Yeah, it looks like many people who got invites last week were unable to schedule. Good luck!

To all those waiting to schedule: Yes, PatsFan is correct. Called admissions and they said to wait until october 15th or so to be able to schedule an interview.

To anyone waiting to schedule an interview, they just opened a few new dates! DON'T WAIT TILL OCTOBER 15th like others have suggested. Good luck!

Not positive because once I scheduled it wouldn't let me go back and see specific dates. IIRC they all looked like Monday dates in December. The latest was Jan 4th.
Hmm okay. Just curious because I was forced to schedule my interview in the middle of my finals week due to lack of options

If you check your application status, they offer a contact number to change your interview date; however, I'd be surprised if the open dates stay that way for long with how many people piled up waiting to schedule. Just a thought.

Just scheduled! For January 4th!
EDIT: That was the only date available when I signed up.

There's a bunch more now--Mondays and Thursdays in January, through January 21st I think.

If you can make it, go. We aren't reporting to anyone, so it's a relaxed, better way to learn more about the school. Oh, and the ice cream is free...

Just checked the secondary portal for the first time in a week or two: first rejection of the cycle 🙁 LizzyM 75 OOS

Ah well, I'll just look at my other 14 interview invites and shake this one off 😉

how are y'all seeing rejections on the portal? i don't see an "access application" button. Not that I want a rejection by any stretch of the imagination.

I think it's in the blue box at the top of the home page after you sign in. It says something like "Application Status"

did everyone who has received an II so far have all the required coursework? I wasn't sure if maybe that was more of a guideline lol

I received a II and Im currently taking physics 2. I think as long as you indicated that you plan on taking your requirements before matriculation you should be good.

Duke never got back to my email asking if my Diversity in Aging/Gerontology would fulfill their sociology requirements lulz

I had an interview early September as well, and I'm currently in Biochem and haven't taken the other math/stats requirement. So I doubt it'll affect whether or not you get an II!

Anybody know if you apply and get accepted PCLT, can you switch into the traditional track? I already applied/had my interviews. I loved the school, but now I'm not so sure about the primary care requirement and shorter rotations
