can any current students comment on where to live/has anyone accepted started to consider their options? I'm not sure when people start thinking about housing since a lot of decisions still have been made!
 
Hello everyone. I was wondering does the interview day last 6 hours. Can one make a 6:10pm flight at the bradley airport using CT limo service?

During my interview day we did stay until about 5:00pm. There were a few people who needed to head out due to flights and they seemed to be very understanding toward everyone's travel demands. I think if you let them know early in the day that you have to head out at a certain time to catch a flight they'll make the proper accommodations for you.

There are a lot of places to live. Admissions can give you a list of the more popular apartment complexes. But you have a lot of time left to find a place. No worries and Congrats
 
Thank you for your suggestions. I decided to spend the night and leave the next day. Just worried I may not make it on time for that flight. Is uber available in the area? I am thinking of staying at courtyard.

Uber is available! I actually ubered from and to the airport instead of the shuttle and it worked out to be only a little more expensive than the round trip shuttle 🙂
 
Anyone know how Quinnipiac alerts you to the post interview decision? Is it email regardless of the answer's content?

M1 here. All they have told us is that the step scores were slightly above the national average. Nothing else - and that's about all you will get from any school. The common wisdom on the matter is that any school that has step scores near (above or below) the national average provides a learning environment that allows its students to score very high on boards. What I mean by that is, the school plays only a minor role in the students ability to excel on step 1. At the end of the day scoring high on step 1 is about dedication to studying in the first 2 years. The harder (and more efficiently!) you work, the higher you will score. Obviously there will be variation (people who try really hard and just cant seem to break away from the pack and people who don't have to try that hard but are consistently at the top of the class) but I would argue that my statement holds true for 90% of medical students.

Thank you!! That's great to know. Another reason I ask is because Quinnipiac seemed to emphasize that their courses and exams are geared towards Step 1 material, which I think is a huge plus (incorporating past board exam questions, etc). Have you found this to be the case? Slash do you think this is helpful for Step 1 prep?

Yeah I really like that about our exams. Basically how they work is about 1/2 the questions are written by faculty and 1/2 the questions are from the NBME question bank (basically old step 1 questions). To pass the test they just take the combination of the two scores, but they give you the breakdown of what % you got right on NBME and what % you got right on faculty q's.

I think it has been very helpful for step 1 (especially in year 2 since that is where the bulk of material for step 1 is presented). Not only do you get an idea of the types of questions, but it is reassuring to know that you are learning material that is high yield for step 1.
 
II earlier this week for late January, and complete mid-August! Any sense of whether or not there are seats available in the 2020 class, or if at this point I will be interviewing for the WL? I am almost certain I will attend the interview, but the logistics/expense of another cross-country flight at this point in the cycle are making me sweat a little 🙂

I don't understand where this sentiment comes from. If their class was full and they thought you were waitlist material they wouldn't be wasting the resources inviting you. If you got an II they want you there, they just want more info before they commit. This "interviewing for the WL" is like a whole new layer of neuroticism.

Congratulations on the II! May I ask about your stats/background? I'm still hoping for an invite myself, IS resident who loves the program and school

most people don't live more than 15mins away from campus. Rent will run you anywhere between 500-1500 depending on if you want to live alone, amenities, etc. etc. Im paying 650 and I'm 5 mins from campus.

Thank you! OOS, Non-trad, LizzyM 71. I've been complete since August. I'm not sure if this had a bearing on their decision to extend an invite, but I did update the portal with significant clinical employment hours/experiences in November. Best of luck! The school and program seem like a great fit for me as well. I'm very excited to interview here, but it has been hard on my work schedule and wallet to fly out from the West Coast several times this cycle.

congrats! If you truly feel that any of the other schools you've already been accepted to will beat if you get accepted into QU, then you already have your answer. But if you feel that if you do get into QU and that'll beat out all the other schools you've already been accepted into, then go go go to this interview!
 
Rejected post II. Very sad. My mcat was 521 and my gpa was 3.73. I really thought I did ok at the interview but maybe I blew it. Anyone know of how I can contact Quinnpiac to maybe find out where I was lacking?

MCW does the whole interviewing for a waitlist thing. I think some other schools do too but I'm pretty sure they tell you in the II email that that's the case.

Thank you. But about the interview, unless you are explicitly told you are interviewing for a waitlist, I think it's an unhelpful and unjustifiable mentality to take into an interview. But I'm no authority I just got bounced lol.

Oh, I agree about that. Unless you're specifically told that you're interviewing for a waitlist, it's very unhelpful and neurotic to think otherwise. I thought your original comment said that no school interviews for the waitlist.
 
For those accepted and planning on attending, have you guys started working on your immunization requirements yet? I believe there are two separate immunization forms to complete, but I was only given one with my acceptance letter.

Additionally, do you know how strict the school is about completing the hepatitis B titer? Most institutions only require that the hep B series is complete, which I had done many years ago. But is the titer mandatory? I'm just afraid it would show up negative for the antibodies and i'd have to get vaccinated alll over again.

Don't sweat it. I'm an M2 and I don't have the HepB series completed. You will however need to finish all the immunizations before year 3. You will need proof via titers as well. I had to get the MMR vaccine again because one of the titers was too low.
 
So what is the consensus in this thread about sending a post-interview (pre-decision) update letter or letter of intent to Netter? One or the other? Both in one letter? Neither?

Wouldn't hurt. Did you write a thank you letter? Incorporate into that
