2015-2016 Rosalind Franklin University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I feel like there won't be waitlist movement for a few weeks, they have to go through a decent amount of waitlist applicants to see which schools each one was accepted to and compare, and they have to continue to review candidates that are still interviewing. My guess is we'll probably hear something in the first week of April when they make their next interview round of decisions.
I can live with that.

Trafficking Day is 39 days away. They'll start accepting people off waitlist when they start accepting people off of the waitlist. It could be any day between now and April 30. You guys need to take a deep breath and try to relax. I know it's difficult and stressful, but it's totally out of your control for the time being.

I read that this year they only see where else you've been waitlisted on April 1, instead of the previously thought of March 15. I expect a lot of movement then.

Could you post where you read that?

They see where you're waitlisted? I thought they just saw where you were accepted...

Negative. Many posts by adcoms, there's an optional part where they can see waitlists.
No, they can't see your waitlists. If a school waitlists you, then they can only see your acceptances after a certain date, not your waitlists or rejections.

I think it's more and more likely only a few people will be pulled off the waitlist, and every interview after Winter Break results in waitlist.
What makes you say that? I personally feel that this is not the case. They've given pretty much all their acceptances in December and January and didn't even begin accepting people until November, so a good amount of the people they've accepted so far are the people that are likely to get acceptances elsewhere. It may be the case that they waitlist all of the future interviews because that's what they've done so far, but as awful as medical school admissions can be, I really don't think they would knowingly waste the time of hundreds of people interviewing into late April if they intend to reject all of them. I believe that they will eventually accept a lot of the 2016 waitlisters.

I agree with bananafish94. I was offered interview dates from November-January and I chose January because it was the most convenient. I'd hate to think that I got put on the waitlist simply because I interviewed in January instead of November, and that if I had chosen a November date I would've had a better chance of getting accepted...

There has got to be wait list movement. Their admissions department definitely seems to follow a totally different program (idk whether that's good or bad), but it certainly appears that they have not offered acceptances in quite a while. I'm certain that it all makes perfect sense to someone, but it is really hard not having a clear picture when your future is hanging Im limbo. Nevertheless, I agree with everyone prior that It seems extremely likely that a large batch of acceptances is going to go out in the next month or so. Hang on.

Keep in mind that if this thread is any indication, they have given relatively few direct acceptances in comparison to people they've accepted off the alternate list. Also, and this is just wild speculation rooted in very little reality, but I suspect they have also rejected a fair amount of people post-interview. People earlier in the thread posted rejections, but I think that there is a bias towards reporting good news on SDN and as such people who get rejected are less likely to tell us.

I know this is veering off topic slightly but has anyone that's in consideration for full tuition scholarship heard back on the timeline? It's been almost a month since the form was due

Me: No news is good news!
Narrator: Actually, no news was very bad news

It'll eventually play out how it was going to end up anyway.... eventually we'll know what the narrator is actually saying. Que sera, sera.

I'd like to think that the candidates that they absolutely didn't want out of older batches of interviewees were already told so.

I personally feel like I'm in good company with you all. If I wore a hat, right now I'd be tipping it to all of you.

Has anyone actually been rejected post-interview yet?

I believe there have been post interview rejections noted in this thread. Someone who has been rejected may not be checking this thread anymore to answer your question.

Fair amount of rejections in 2015, not sure if I've seen any since January though. But as you said there's a selection bias.

There are about 3ish people who posted that they were rejected post-interview a few pages back in the thread. I think one was in January but I could be wrong

I'm sorry. With those stats I'm sure you'll get in somewhere awesome.

You don't know that. Don't predict the future.

Sorry to hear, but those stats will get you in somewhere.

I interviewed a week earlier but haven't heard back...

You don't know that. Don't predict the future.

thanks, man. I hope you get in. It sure is a long process. Interviewed 3/11.

This is the better response.

They are not trying to predict the future obviously. They are just trying be encouraging. I don't see anything wrong with their response.
It's better to be pragmatic and empathetic. Part of being a physician is about managing exceptions not spreading false hope.

Had a long discussion in my medical ethics course once about whether or not, for pragmatic and/or empathetic reasons, it might be ethical to lie. Turns out although rare, those situations exist. The post in question wasn't even a lie, just an uncertainty... And the answers to these types of situations get fuzzy. I don't think they said anything wrong. I'm sure the person the post was aimed at knows what can and cannot be assured to them based on a forum post.
