Really enjoyed the interview day today! They said 4-6 weeks, but if you don't hear back by then, you'll be on a "committee hold" which simply means nothing and that the committee hasn't gotten to you yet. They also said they review holistically, not just based on the interview.

Oh I gotcha! Well from this forum, we see that no decisions have been released yet. So they are a little behind the anticipated time frame for those early IIs. Mine was at the end of October and I expect to hear some time in December. Finger crossed and good luck to you!!

Yoooo! It took me a while to remember who you are lol. Username was familiar but avi was not. Mel Gibson right? Cycle has been pretty nerve wracking, as expected. I've gotten a couple of ii's, but no acceptances yet. Keeping my hopes high though 🙂. How about you?

SDN TOS says this a place to discuss... not insult people just because they make an observation... nobody is undermining your hard work. everyone worked hard, you are not the only one, bud.

513MCAT (11,10,14,10), 3.97 masters gpa, lower ugpa
 
I get that the review process is extremely random, but I am just so curious how I haven't heard anything. Complete early August. I have seen people with my same stats receive interviews and rejections.

No news is no news until you hear news. I'm in a similar boat. All you can do is be patient and wait to get a response.
 
Rejected. OOSish- I lived 1/4 of my life in Chicago and have lots of ties to the city. I would've loved to have gone here. I was complete 7/11, so they really strung me along

I know it's probably a crap shoot, but they do have 10k+ applications and it's hard to differentiate amongst those who apply. Maybe they have people who are slightly different than you, demographics/story-wise, but have similar stats?

Like someone said, an interview might still be offered, so as long as you're not rejected, you're still in the running.

Anyone care to offer some more opinions on the interview? I found a few thoughts scattered throughout the thread but was hoping to hear some more opinions/comments... In particular because I'm starting to feel I won't be able to run through as many practice scenarios as I had hoped
 
When exactly do we believe decisions for those who interviewed early September will be out??????
Has anyone called and asked recently?

Complete 9/4. cGPA 3.85, MCAT 29.

After 3 early IIs I was somewhat (maybe inappropriately) optimistic for the rest of the cycle though it's been nothing but rejections since. Very grateful to have an acceptance at this point.

I went back and read the posts from those of you who called the admissions office last week (thank you for that, by the way), and I'm having a hard time deciphering what the actual hold up is. Could someone who called help clarify this for me? Is the AdCom delayed in actually making decisions on applications (implying that all future interviewees would also be stuck in the logjam)? Or have they made decisions and are just delayed in releasing them?

I completely sympathize with how stressed RFUMS must be in order to have this much of a delay, so I'm not annoyed; rather, I just want to temper my expectations for receiving a decision when my turn comes around.

When I called them a couple of weeks ago, it sounded like the committee had met and they admission officers were waiting for the committee to communicate their decisions to the officers so that they could email us. But now I am thinking I misinterpreted what she said because I find it hard to believe that the only hold up is a conversation between adcoms and admission officers. If I don't hear anything by Friday I will probably call them again and ask.

Yah, it's getting a little ridiculous at this point. I would have been 100% okay with waiting until whenever they told me as long as they stuck to that date. Most of us expected to hear back two weeks ago and that came and went. Now every time someone calls, the range they give is "hopefully this week, but maybe next week". I would guess they will have the same answer for us this week lol.

The weird thing is that this is the first time they are doing this. I read through some of the last 2 cycles and even though they may have been a day or 2 off their mark they were never 2-3 weeks late and with radio silence. If it's going to take more time, just send out a general email to all the applicants telling us what is going on so that we are informed. I understand that they have a lot of applicants and they are super busy wadding through the applications but a general email that can tell us when we can expect to hear back or the reason behind the delay does not seem like too much to ask for.

I did the same thing, looking through previous app cycle threads, and you're right in it seems like this delay is pretty unprecedented, which is why I was wondering how it will affect all of us going forward. Thanks for following up on my question, and if you do end up calling on Friday, be sure to report back what was said! Fingers crossed that all of you waiting receive a decision in the meantime! :xf:

Would was was similar / or different from what you had expected? Harder/easier?

Any general interview day tips?

Sure! I really enjoyed my interview day here -- I didn't find it that stressful. Everyone was very nice and there to help you really get a feel for the school. I didn't practice too much for the MMI - you really can't "study" for it. You can't really anticipate what they're going to ask you, so go in as relaxed as possible and know they aren't out to get you. I personally liked it more than a traditional interview style and it really flies by super fast.

Be calm and confident and if the school is a good fit for you, you'll be just fine!
 
Rejected pre-interview yesterday. Was complete like two weeks ago lol. They really didn't want me. Canadian Applicant. Good luck everyone!
