2016-2017 Boston University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I dont think applications are reviewed exactly how they are submitted. They are put into tiers and are looked at many times.

No news is better than bad news! It's a long cycle and it's only just getting started. We have no way of knowing what happens, so keep your head up.
Yeah... But you know what, I've always considered myself to be an optimistic person. Maybe sometimes over-optimistic or idealistic.

But at this particular point of my life - and considering my circumstances - I think I'll lower my expectations...a lot. It hurts bad to go from being so hopeful about something to feeling rejected and directionless. 🙁

But I appreciate your words of encouragement, they do mean a lot to me and others like me.

The process is so so unpredictable and beyond comprehension. It can be frustrating but from what I have been hearing there's a lot of time left to get good news. So you should keep your hopes up.

Has anyone interviewed yet? If so, can you plz share le secrets/experiences/impressions etc

Email. Last time I checked the portal was Friday morning, so it may have updated sometime between then and now. Interviews available are mostly mid october-early November

So my app was completely done (including secondary) on the 14 of August. MCAT: 516, both GPA: 3.92. I haven't heard a thing while others with similar stats have received interviews a couple of weeks ago. Should I be pretty worried at this point?

I wouldn't be worried. The general wisdom is that an interview invite (not interview) before thanksgiving is good. This process is such a crapshoot. I've received IIs at places I did not think I would hear from, and haven't received invites from a couple places that I thought I would hear from because I thought I was a good fit/competitive/have ties to the school or area.

BU gets a ton of applications, so I was honestly surprised to hear from them this early.

It's still very early, so there still a ton of IIs to go out!

Do they take awhile to review your LOR? I have a green check mark on everything except the LOR. Thanks!

Yeesh guys, we spammed the portal so hard that we broke it.

Congratulations to everyone who received interview invitations and best of luck to the rest! I'm wondering if anyone can provide some insight/ information about the interview style. I'm aware that it is 1 interview that is 45-60 mins long. (please correct me if I'm wrong). But do they ask ethical questions? (I'm sorry if this question is not allowed - I'm not aware of SDN rules, so please disregard this question if it interferes with any policies!)

Ok now I'm getting worried. Complete early Aug and heard nothing. BU does silent rejections until they tell you like 4 months after you submit so I'm getting worrieeeeed!

I think it depends on your interviewer! Mine asked me one, but only one, and I don't think they will across the board.

I was not asked any ethical questions.
