Today's date has appeared in the area where the status is updated and I don't recall that being there before. Does anyone else have that? Waiting for hear back from an early November interview...

on october 17th some people got that, and it later turned into a waitlist, but who knows

Just got alternate list email, interviewed Dec. 7..... I thought I did ok during the interview; guess not lol

Rejected post-II. I actually thought the interviews weren't that great, but I certainly didn't think they were rejection bad 😱

Also rejected...faculty interview was probably worse than average, thought student interview went great, but who knows. Congrats to everyone who got in!

Accepted this morning, my first one! After being put on a few wait lists I was beginning to worry I was messing up the interviews or something. Feels so good to be in somewhere! Lost all motivation to study for my last couple of finals though...

Got hard copy acceptance letter today, however no mention of being eligible to apply to scholarship. Has it been confirmed that the hard copy letter is the way this is communicated?

Yeah. My letter included an insert saying I am eligible to apply for a scholarship.

also are there student hosts?
Yeah, if you go onto the iapply portal, there is an option to click that lets you fill out a short form to request a student host. I filled it out and got matched with someone a couple hours later. They have a really streamlined process for matching you with hosts!

On my portal there is a spot that says I am eligible to apply for scholarships. Haven't received the hard copy acceptance yet.

Ok, I guess I'm not eligible. That's ok, I'm just happy to be accepted!

I do wonder how they determine who applies though...

Where on the portal does it say that?

When I sign in there's a list of different updates that have happened with my app, like interview invite and acceptance, and the most recent one says that I'm eligible to apply for scholarships and I can click a link to see the actual letter, similar to how you can click to see the acceptance letter

No student hosts are available for the night before my interview. Does anyone have any suggestions on cheap hotels nearby? I know Case gives you a list but I want to hear from someone who has used a hotel nearby. Thanks!

Glidden House was one of the cheapest I could find (still not super cheap). Mention to them it is for an interview. It is conveniently located, quaint, and includes free breakfast and parking (as far as I remember).

The Intercontinental in the Cleveland Clinic is super nice. Closer to Case, the Courtyard is also a good option. It's right next to UH and nearby all of the fun things in University Circle and Little Italy~

+1, wasn't cheap but the short jaunt (1/2 mile) to Case was really convenient. 10/10 would recommend.

Gonna +1 Courtyard. There's a shuttle that drops you right at the entrance to the school and will pick you up. Also the shuttle can take you to all the nearby restaurants and such. Not sure if you need that, but I didn't rent a car so it was great.

If we didn't get an offer to apply for scholarships along with the acceptance letter, does that mean we're out of the running entirely? Do they extend more applications for scholarships later on in the cycle?

I do not believe so, based on previous threads. The applications go out in February and decisions are made in the spring. I would think that people accepted later in the cycle would still be eligible to receive applications, however.

Unfortunate. The cost of attendance here is unreal.

Can any current students talk about what they received in terms of financial aid? Besides merit aid, is it common for Case to give some need based aid to offset the (huge) cost of tuition?

II about two hours ago 😀

There were a few Jan dates available, but I couldn't make any of them. Would it do me best to choose an earlier date or should it not really make a difference?

I can no longer access application responses in the portal (the tabs are gone). Anyone else?

I'd suggest only picking a date you want and can make. If not, email and ask if they can accommodate you on a different interview day.

As someone who was accepted off of the waitlist last year, I wanted to chime in and offer some encouragement to those who fell in love with Case at their interview, but haven’t (yet) been accepted. People do get in off of the waitlist, for sure, but I am not going to say how many because:

1. I am not sure exactly how many

and

2. I don’t want you overthinking or trying to gauge your chances, it will just stress you out. Trust me and trust the process.

What I mean by trusting the process is that regardless of the outcome of this admissions cycle, you will eventually end up at the right place for you- hopefully that is CWRU, but it may very well be somewhere else, it may be this year, or it might even be in the future. Do yourself a favor and enjoy this time, don’t let it be stressful, and be confident in the fact that you are a motivated student who will eventually be a physician. In the meantime, work on things to improve your app, but keep in mind that the admissions process (and medicine in general) is a marathon. It is important to learn the value of the journey and not just the destination.

Hope this helps!

II just now for University program and college program! LizzyM 72-74, OOS but some ties to the school/area. Dates in February, but unfortunately have to schedule the two interviews on different trips because the college program stops interviewing in January

Ask the university program if they can slot you in so you don't have to travel twice. I'm sure they'll try to accommodate you.

I have an interview this week and would love to know if anybody has an tips or helpful information how to best prepare. Thanks in advance!

I know it doesn't seem very helpful when people say they're very laid back and casual interviews, but my interviews were very laid back and casual. They're both typically at the end of the day (1 faculty, 1 student) and shouldn't really require any special preparation. Just be a pleasant person and know yourself well. And if you find time, check out the area around the school! I love love loved it.
