I'm a BMS student who currently lives in Woodlands. Of the people I know, 90% either live in student housing or Woodlands, with others living at Deer Valley, Forest Pointe, Navy housing, or somewhere else. If proximity vs washer/dryer is your only hangup between Woodlands/Deer Valley, I'd go Woodlands. Assuming all buildings are like mine, the way washer/dryers are is that there is one laundry room per stairway with two washers and two dryers. Each stairway has 12 apartments, but some of the Woodlands apartments have their own laundry, so it is split between less units. I've lived here 6 months, and only once have I gone to do laundry and had to wait. It's $1.25 to run the washer and $1.25 to run the dryer, so depending on how much laundry you are planning on doing, that might be something to consider too.
The Facebook group will help a lot. Which forum are you referring to? Also, are you guys using the little booklet they gave at the interview as a guide for housing?

Yeah, RFU interviews until April, so there probably won't be movement until they've concluded interviews. After being waitlisted at a different school last year I noticed a lot of movement from many schools after the "traffic rule" date.
How do you get into Navy housing? Is there an online application? And is it within walking distance?
I am interested in the private one bedroom apartment on campus. Does the school's set expense budget allow for it?
Do most people trying to get into the Woodlands get in, or are there more applicants than apartments?

I would give them until the very end of Feb for interviews, since they get a lot of rejection of seats by then and they need to accomodate the changing numbers. Is this your dream school? +they are backed up because they recieved a ton of apps. (Like always)
They had trouble filling the apartments last year. I only came after they offered me more than one discount on rent to fill my apartment. There are many people who signed up to have a roommate and ended up with an apartment by themselves because there were more apartments than people. I know of multiple apartments that have sat empty for the last 6 months. There are very little one bedroom units though, like I heard there are only ten or something. Pets are restricted to only a few buildings, so there might be higher demand if you have a pet. All that being said, last year was their first year renting through Rosalind Franklin and it was kind of a mess and everything was last minute. I'd expect higher demand this year because they will have more time to promote, plus they reduced rent and are including WiFi.
How does the 9 month housing contract work? Do you have to move out until you get an apartment for another school year or are the other 3 months free?
Yep, unless you want to be constantly bumming rides off of other people. There's nothing here within walking distance, there are rarely Ubers available, and Lyft doesn't operate here.
