2016-2017 Washington University in St. Louis Application Thread

I got the same email about it being automatic but I haven't had problems logging in. Are you using the password they gave you when you registered on their website or did you change the password after logging in for the first time?
I'm pretty sure I changed it but my new password wont work, and when I do the old password it doesn't give me the error message.

Yeah, I'm having the same problem, it says I have an invalid username/password when I use my new one, but when I use the assigned password the page just seems to refresh and not change.

You find a solution to this? They send me a new password but it didn't work either.

I swear this morning I tried logging in and it worked, without me having done anything differently...but now it's not working again. As if apps weren't already a struggle :dead:

When they say describe in chronological order your activities during the time(s) when you were not enrolled as a full-time student, should we include summer breaks cause technically I was not enrolled as a full-time student at that time?

Given the first half of the question: "If you have already completed your education, if your college or graduate education was interrupted, or if you do not plan to be a full-time student during the current year" I think this question is specifically targeted at non-trads. I think those of us who will be full-time for 2016-2017 are not intended to answer this question, as we fulfill none of these stipulations.

*Edit* And have been full time for the entirety of our college careers.

Turns out that I could get it to work on a different computer. For those who are having similar problems.

I had the same problem logging in today but it worked when I tried it in an incognito window! Probably cookies or some other technical internet thing I don't understand

Yep, works for me both using incognito on Chrome, or using a different browser (Safari) instead, so probably something with my Chrome settings.

Does anyone know about the Certification by Current Dean of Students requirement?

Do we have to send them the document in order for our application will be complete?

Wait... Where did you see this requirement? It was required most other years, but I never saw it this year.

What does that even mean? I've never heard of this.

I don't think that's for this year. The copy I got in my email for the secondary didn't include a section for it. It was required in previous years though. Honestly, I don't know haha.

Edit: That is def last years. It says the supplement should be turned in by December 2015.

Ahh I see, haha my bad

Same! I havent even applied here yet!
If you're referring to actual mail as opposed to email, I also received this letter, but in about February or March (LONG before I ever applied, obviously!) I took my MCAT in way back September though, so I assume it was in response to receiving my score. Definitely a feel-good letter 🙂

Oh, it's paper mail. I was refreshing my inbox, wondering why I didn't get one...:laugh:

Edit: mum called and told me I got one.

Is anyone having trouble logging in?? I just submitted 2ndary and can't log back in...

Did anyone put in their SAT and ACT scores? I can't seem to find mine, are they important? I got a 33 on the ACT and 790 on SAT subject tests so it seems like it would be beneficial to put them in.

I did. Not sure if they're important though...

Yeah I did mine too.. luckily I had already dug them up for TMDSAS

They were pretty average so I wonder how much of a factor they are? The fact that they ask means they have to count for something?

A current WUSM student clarified that SAT/ACT scores are not used for admission (quote taken from the '14-'15 cycle thread). He/she was an incoming MS1 at the time though

If you remember or can find your scores, go ahead and include them. If not, it's alright. My understanding is that WashU uses these for research rather than admissions purposes.

Hey guys, when WashU asks about whether you have worked during the academic year/summer, does that include paid research hours?

Do most people fill out both optional essays or just one?

Sent from my iPhone using SDN mobile app

Are the optional essays truly optional?
Yes, they are. Don't bore adcoms with try-hard things if you don't truly have something important to say that isn't covered elsewhere in your app.

I didn't do a single optional essay last cycle and did fine.

anyone having trouble uploading a photo? My photo is definitely jpeg idk why it won't accept

I have a question about the second optional essay. I am probably overthinking it but it seems like the question could be read two different ways. Is it asking solely if there are any experiences or obstacles you've had to overcome or is the essay saying you can write about a unique experience or write about overcoming an obstacle? I'm asking because I wrote a diversity essay for another school about a pretty unique and cool skill I have and I was wondering if that could fit in here?

Are they really as stats-driven as I keep hearing? My MCAT is pretty high (521), everything else is pretty ok but not stellar enough for a top 20 IMO. Considering throwing my hat in. Any thoughts?

Same MCAT as you and I'm applying. I think you should, because you never know where a miracle will happen!

For the section where you input letter writer's names, is this just for the teacher letters you are submitting? Or are we supposed to input the additional supervisor letters here too? Also does anybody know if the maximum letters is 6? On MSAR it says 6 but there's only 4 slots

So I havent heard a peep from washU st louis. Not a single email, nothing for receipt of AMCAS, etc. etc., and definitely no secondary...

LizzyM 77, mcat 522, 3.83 cGPA... was I somehow screened out? Was looking forward to applying here.

Check your spam. That's where I found mine.

Don't believe you need an invite to do the secondary. Just go online and do it.
