Question to people that interviewed at the Indianapolis campus: Was there a lot of walking? Ladies, are heels a good idea?
I felt like there was a decent amount of walking, especially if you plan to do the campus tour. Heels are fine, but I would go as low and comfy as possible (especially if you're not used to heels/don't wear them often). There's enough to worry about on interview day so making yourself comfortable is one less thing to worry about and will help you feel more confident.

You’re welcome. We certainly did walk, but it wasn’t an overwhelming amount. We crossed the street for financial aid, I had parked my car in a parking garage up the street from Van Nuys, and depending on how you’re scheduled you might not even get the mini tours they throw in.

The farthest you’ll walk is to your interview. I interviewed in the library, which was one of the closer sites from what I could tell

I had a morning interview, so I didn't go on a tour. There wasn't too much walking. I had one of the further interviews and it was only a 5 minute walk. Heels are fine.

There was no deposit for the acceptance right? Hoping I didn't send in the letter w/o money that they needed lol.

has anyone sent a message to IU through the "contact us" tab on the portal? Any idea how long it takes them to respond?

Hey guys!!! So earlier today at like 3:00pm I checked my portal and it said accepted !!! I was so excited. I didn’t click the link to do the “enter your ID” thing right away. I was internalizing it and just now went back to do it. It switched back to under consideration! has anyone had this issue??

Wow what a roller coaster of emotions. I would probably rule this as a false alarm. I doubt the committee has met for February decisions yet and the portal doesn’t change until about a week after the letters are sent out. How weird though

Yeah seriously:shrug:

This depends on where your interview is held. I was also contemplating wearing heels, but was glad I didn't because my interview was at Eskenazi hospital, and it's the farthest walking distance from where you'll be for check-in/info session/finaid session. It's not like it's a mile or anything, but it's a nice little walk and I was glad I didn't wear heels. Of course, you won't know where your interview location is until you get there, I would just keep that in mind.

Completely jumping the gun here cause I only interviewed Jan 10 and was complete yesterday (all supplemental materials finally in), but optimistically speaking, how does everyone think they'll rank their campus choices?

I imagine since most people are from in state it’s where they lived or closest to family.

I went to school in Bloomington but would like a larger city at this point.

I lived in Muncie for quite awhile. what kind of questions do you have?
I mostly wanted to know how the environment is at the Muncie campus. Class size? How would you compare it to other campuses? What's the best thing and worst thing about it?

Thanks. Might opt out of heels as well.

1. Indy
2. Bloomington
3. South Bend
4. Fort Wayne

Omg that's my exact list right now! Nice.
Well if it works out got both of us, we can be pretty sure we’ll end up at the same place pretty much lol.

I’ve avoided this place like the plague since my interview practically. If there isn’t a letter this month, I will lose my mind because what Indiana is not going to do is have me wait until June 1st for a rejection.

I've put it in my mind to not expect to hear anything until at least April. At least that way, I won't go crazy looking. It also helps that I don't live at my home address documented on my application, so I can't check the mail like crazy either.

So it's either my mom opening the mail and calling with amazing news that I got in, or her calling to ask me if Vimeo is the same thing as Venmo again :meh:

Every campus is great in its own way. I can reassure you that each campus has its pros and cons but at the end of the day you'll be receiving the same information. I am currently at Indy and I have really enjoyed my experience here.

Anyone have any idea how many acceptances IUSM sends out per month? Do you think it's the same every month or is it possible that more people will hear back in Feb/March since the interview cycle is wrapping up?

I’m more curious about how large their waitlists are and how often do people move off it

I remember you posting that you interviewed in January. Did you already hear back and were put on the waitlist? Just wondering because I a also interviewed in January.
Also, at my Gary interview, a girl said she got accepted like the second day of orientation/class or something like that. I feel like there may be a lot of movement at the end.

They don’t put people on the waitlist until May. I talked to someone who said they put about 100 people on the list. The person I talked to didn’t get in until August 1st. No clue how it works or what his position on it was

Does anyone know if they interview in March or are interviews over?

What I’ve noticed is that they’ve been pretty conservative with it so far based on SDN acceptances as they’ve mostly accepted people with ridiculously high stats that are most likely not going to attend this school so I’m guessing towards the end they will begin accepting people closer to their average

Ya they’ve only accepted geniuses so far

(I kid I kid)

But I think the WL generally sees movement! It was end of May when I got rejected previously. I’ve heard lots of stories of ppl getting pulled in off WL.

Yeah I don’t know my status yet. I’m just wondering if I do make th waitlist how likely is it that I’ll get off

Yeah so I improved my application a lot but nothing can really hide bad grades in the distant past and they accepted me. I am just saying, there are plenty, even ones I know, that do not have crazy amazing stats and we got in. Hold out hope folks.

Anyway, does anyone know if we can rearrange our campus ranking multiple times or is it a one and done sort of thing?

I think (and I may be wrong) that they make the waitlist starting on March 15th. According to the IUSM admissions webpage, traditional acceptances end March 15th and alternate acceptances run from April 15th - May 15th. This also kind of makes sense because the AAMC traffic rules say that schools have to offer as many acceptances as they have seats in the class by March 15th.

Edit: From looking at last year's thread, I'm guessing that they make make the waitlist in March but don't tell you if you're on it until May-ish.

I re arranged mine after I set it! Think you can re arrange it until they do the lottery in late April

Ok yeah that makes sense cus I did see ppl getting accepted in April which made me think it was just a normal acceptance but that makes sense!

I’m shook :nailbiting:

Come through Indiana. Please don’t let me go alternate and cause me to stress out even more

What are alternate acceptances? How is that different from traditional or waitlist acceptances?
It's essentially a waitlist I think, except that it's given much later in the season and more of a "high priority" waitlist type deal.

Does anyone know if your portal changes from under consideration to accepted before letters are sent on the 15th? I know some people check on the undergrad portal but I am asking about the portal where we picked our interview location.

The IUSM portal typically does not change until after you receive the acceptance letter. Normally, the acceptance letter sent via snail mail is the earliest opportunity you have of finding out if you've been accepted. Occasionally, the undergrad portal updates before a letter is received, but I believe only current students at IU (undergrad, grad, etc.) have access to that.
So I actually got an email the Friday of the decision re: campus site selection, and I called in to ask if that meant that I had been accepted, which they confirmed. So if all else fails, you can always call in and ask if you've been accepted haha

Lol. Was this on the 15th or was it a different date?

Just curious, what interview dates are still waiting to hear back about a decision? I know there was one october interviewee who just recently heard back in january, but I was wondering if there are others waiting that interviewed before january? My status is still "in process" so I honestly don't expect to hear anything until at least March

It was actually on the 19th. I didn't get the letter until like.. the 26th lol.
Wow the 26th that’s insane. I wonder if all decisions truly go out on the 15th. Well I’ll sure be hoping for that email.

If you've not been accepted anywhere yet a good way to know whether good news is coming is you will receive a background check prompt from certiphi.

Does this come to your email? And also is this email sent around the 15th if accepted?
