Has anyone gotten anything in the mail yet from this school this month? I'd assume it'd be this week...

Nope.

It sounds like some people have already been accepted (according to one IU) so they'll be the best gauge for when letters are received. Last year people received letters the day after MLK day (their MLK day was the 16th and they received letters on the 17th... so they must have mailed them out on the 14th/15th or something).

If what I have read earlier is correct then they mailed them out on the 15th, which also happens to be our MLK day (delayed mail). I'm in state, so if I haven't heard back by tomorrow I'll assume that I'm still playing the waiting game (the fact that I have heard nothing today is making me lean towards this, usually IS takes 1-2 days of travel time, though past months it has taken up to 3 days).

My understanding is they MEET on the 15th. They probably didn’t meet till the 16th since 15th was MLK which means the letter were probably mailed out on the 17th.

This would make sense as I got a background check prompt on the 16th around 1:30 PM.

I feel fairly confident the prompt was initiated by Indiana since my other schools make batch decisions in Feb.

Has your status on the portal changed?

No, but they said it won’t change for a while. They want you to get the letter. If you don’t get the physical letter (don’t respond in some time) it is followed up with an email I believe.

I hope they end this waiting torture soon with someone getting that letter!

Is anyone interviewing on Feb 7th willing to book a hotel and cab together?

someone call and ask what day they mailed it out this week lol

Just gave them a ring. Apparently, the letters were "put in the mail room" on Friday. The person did not know if they actually were sent out that day or if they were sent out on Saturday or Tuesday. No letters were put in the mail on Monday.

Does anyone have a good phone # to call? Sometimes with schools I just get machine after machine

Yup, I'm just going to assume that I'm waiting until February 15 now. On the off chance it magically took the post office an extra day to make it to Northern Indiana I'll let you know (that is highly unlikely though, most letters have probably reached the far corners of the state).

Sounds about right letter were ready on the 12 but weren’t picked up mailhandlers until the 16th.

2-8 business days depending where you’re at.

ACCEPTED!
In-State, LizzyM: 66.4, MCAT: 507, Undergrad GPA: 3.74
Interviewed: 10/11/17

Received letter in mail today. Noticed my one.iu.edu "application status" portal changed to accepted message ("congratulations!...") late last week. The application portal from when I received my interview still says "under consideration," so I'm not sure if they update that.

Time it takes for mail to get from Indy to wherever.

Pleasantly surprised in the mail today! OOS about 3 hours away. Interviewed November. Portal hasn't changed and still says under consideration. I am going to assume that its slow and mailing it wasn't a mistake.

Who has interviewed for the IU Rural Medicine program in Terre Haute? Grateful to have received an II and just wondering if anyone had some insight.

I've not received my acceptance but I AM AT WORK so I've not checked my mail... did I get accepted?!?!?...

My portal has not changed to be able to select the campus... please don't let this be a cruel joke...

I got that email too! I am so excited!!!! I am assuming I won't get it by mail for a few more days, but still going to celebrate haha

Question. Do they only mail acceptance letters and we’re supposed to figure out were rejected when it’s April and we haven’t received anything or maybe an email?

Yes they only mail acceptance letters, if you don't get one and are not put on the waitlist at the beginning of May, expect a rejection email at the end of May

They said everyone is guaranteed a decision by June 1st. I think you and I have a while to hear back since people who interviewed in September are just now getting accepted, unfortunately.

No. That’s the last thing I want to hear. I can’t wait past February. I physically can’t. I will deteriorate

May 15th is when people who are holding acceptances have to select one school, that's when waiting list turnover really kicks. It also happens a bit before that as people get their acceptances to schools they want.

If you've not heard anything by May 15th chances are slim-eeerrrr but at the same time if you've not heard it means you're still in the mix. There are more than plenty of cases where people didn't find out they were accepted off the waiting list well into June.

The waiting game sucks. Just keep doing what's right for you... Prepare for the worst hope for the best...

I've talked to people who applied last year who interviewed at the beginning of September and didn't get in until the first week of classes in mid August, almost a full year wait. It is a brutal process, strap in haha

For future applicants:

1. Interviewed October 11 2017.
2. Decision of my admittance was made around Jan 10 or 11 or 12 2018.
3. Received a prompt to have background check Jan 16 2018.
4. The letter was physically taken by mail-handlers from IU Jan 16 2018.
5. Did not received the acceptance envelope by mail until [insert date] but saw an email to rank campuses on Jan 19 2018.
6. Portal still says "under consideration" even after learning of my acceptance.
7. Live in Tennessee.
