In addition, Rosalind being a low-yield school, they must interview quite a bit of students and accept a lot to fill their large class of 189 students. It already being March 14 makes this even more bizarre.

Okay, I just called admissions (as an admitted student). They said that they have 192 seats in the 2018 matriculating class. They received 14,000 applications this year and are planning on reading all of them before making any more final decisions. A bit annoying that they didn’t release this information but seems like they are taking the ‘holistic review process’ thing very seriously. I hope some of y’all hear soon so I can meet my (potentially) future peers!

I also interviewed on the first day (Sept 15) and was accepted mid/late October. I highly doubt that all of the students who I interviewed with were accepted, which leads me to believe that their class isn't even a fraction of the way full yet. However, Admitted Students Visit Day is on April 7th, and I assume they will want the majority of the 2018 class to attend that event. If that's the case, acceptances better start pouring out soon!

A current student on my interview day mentioned that they’re trying to interview many more applicants this year compared to previous cycles, which I’m guessing accounts for what seems like a very strange cycle. Hopefully they understand that it comes across poorly, and might push candidates to attend another school if given the opportunity. That being said I think this school is the best fit for me out of the ones I’ve interviewed at, so I’m trying to stay hopeful that I’ll be pulled off the WL.

Pretty sure that person was saying the class size will be 192. No indication of how many spots have been filled yet though it really seems like very very few acceptances have gone out and a lot of applicants will be continuing to wait post-interview to hear a final decision.

Well it's March 15th! After today, we'll know that at least 192 acceptances have gone out. Whether that includes anyone on here or from our interview days, I guess we'll see. Best of luck to everyone!

I have no idea. Interviewing more applicants could equate to more interviewees per interview day, more interview days per week/month, or extending the interview season. It’s anyone’s guess which route they’ve decided to take.

Sounds like they're really trying to protect their yield, waiting for applicants to withdraw when they get into their top choice etc.

Curious as to how one should interpret the preliminary IM matches?

So there's overlap since those specialties are already listed? So if you add up all of the matches it would be higher than the # in the class right?

I don't know if it accounts for all of them, but yes the total number of matches is bigger than the class size. I checked the list with people's names on it, most of the names with prelim/transitional matches are also listed somewhere else (Rads, Gas, Urology, Neuro, etc).

There are two different types of programs for some specialties, such as anesthesia. Gas has a four year residency. It can either be done all four years at one institution (Categorical) or 1 year at one institution (preliminary medicine, preliminary surgery, or transitional year) and the actual anesthesia residency at another institution (advanced). Some programs like UConn have both an advanced and a categorical track.

For advanced programs, you need to match both to year one and the advanced program. It's possible to match into just one. You then have to SOAP/scramble (just google it) into the other program. It's better to match advanced only since preliminary programs look at you as a safer bet and your advanced residency may help you find a place in a pinch. Matching prelim only puts you in a kind of crappy place since you need to spend the rest of the next year interviewing for other programs.

TL;dr: the numbers aren't final and won't line up perfectly. I only know 3 people who didn't match, 2 neurosurg, 1 psych who had good credentials and I'm still stunned. The process of getting a residency can last well past match day.

I recommend emailing them if you haven't already. I emailed them after not receiving any correspondence for a month and a half and I received a waitlist notification within a day. :/

It was within 24 hours after calling. Maybe a coincidence, but no one else from the group I interviewed with received a decision that day. It still doesn't hurt to contact them if you haven't.

Anybody know what dates they are on for scheduling interviews?
 
The reason waiting due to the post-interview hold email is so frustrating is because no one was told why they are waiting. If they would have given a reason, I personally would be significantly less frustrated with their committee.

When patients are in the waiting room they are rarely told why their 1:00 appointment has turned into a 5:00. RFU is simply preparing us for this facet of our practice, its apart of their innovative inter-professional curriculum

Yes, many people have been rejected pre-interview. If you have not been rejected yet, then you are still in the running

The AAMC Application and Acceptance Protocols - Admission Officers
It's 4 on here. As many of have pointed out though, these are guidelines that the AAMC recommends, not hard and fast rules.

As an aside, waiting sucks but with the number of applications they receive here, I have no idea how they get it all done each year. The fact that many of us interviewed as early as fall reflects strongly on us as stellar applicants and future physicians. I feel really grateful to have interviewed here and hope we all hear good news soon. News of our decisions WILL come. Best of luck everyone.
 
Rejected today. Finally correspondence after 8 and a half months.
