IS interviewed in December. Thought the interviews went amazing so I was honestly very shocked by the initial WL decision (because my stats are also above the median).

I guess I just barely missed the acceptance cutoff then if I’m one of the first off the WL.

Anyone know when I can expect financial aid info if I just got accepted? Also, I currently am holding a couple of other acceptances. Do I have to decide between UB and my other schools by April 30?

From AAMC:

8. In fairness to other applicants, if you have decided before April 30 not to attend a medical school or program that has offered you an acceptance, promptly withdraw your application from that school(s) or program(s) by written correspondence or the method preferred.

9. If you receive an offer of acceptance from more than one school or program, choose the school at which you will enroll by April 30. Then, promptly withdraw your application, by written correspondence, from all other schools or programs that have offered you an acceptance.
 
Think there will be less movement than previous years because of the new building? MSAR stats went up since last year

Maybe it would bother you even more after knowing it, regardless of what your ranking is.
 
It was tough but I withdrew my acceptance. Really really loved the new school but had a much cheaper option somewhere else. Also, the honors/high pass grading system seemed stressful to me.

As a reapplicant who was waiting on a few waitlists last cycle but didn't get in, I can really empathize with you who are waiting on this waitlist. I genuinely hope one of you gets my acceptance so you don't have to wait a whole year like I did. 🤔

Is there anything to be said about the fact that their last interview day (April 25th) was 5 days before traffic day? Last year (judging by the wait list thread) there was a lot of wait list movement the day after traffic day. That wasn't the case this year... Maybe there were more direct acceptances/rejects this cycle and thus much less wait list opportunity?

I bet there is waitlist movement tomorrow. It was on a Thursday last week, so they probably meet on Wednesday to process those who have withdrawn their acceptance and pull off the waitlist Thursday morning.

Last years waitlist seems more active than this years. Perhaps everyone wants that shiny new building.

Guys, stop freaking out! Either everyone that came off the waitlist today is not on SDN (not likely), or they haven't posted yet. OR Buffalo simply hasn't pulled off the waitlist this week, yet.

If you are dying to know if waitlist movement has occurred this week, I am sure you can email Mr. Rosso and ask "has any waitlist movement happened this week? Do you expect any movement to occur in the future?" I bet he would let you know!


Edit: if you decide to email him, please let us know what he says!

I called and Dr. Daniels (you guys may remember him from the interview tour) said that there has been "a lot" of waitlist movement. Then he made a point to say that even though there's been movement it may not be until June or July that I hear anything. I then asked if there was any particular day I should be checking and he said no, it could be any time and I should just check periodically.

It sounded like Mr. Rosso was in the room too.

So he said there has been movement this week? And that they won't notify people until June? What the heck?
 
I initially asked about this week specifically, but he said, “yes there’s been a lot of waitlist movement.” The answer sounded general like he maybe didn’t hear the “this week” part. Then to kind of counter himself he said— but you may not hear anything until June/July. edit: I took that to mean that waitlist movement is going on now and will continue through July— not that it happened now and they just won’t tell us till then.

So then I said OK thank you, and well is there any specific day in the week I should be checking then. And he said no, no specific day. It’ll be at any time, and you should just check periodically.

There was nothing in the exchange to really calm any nerves. just keep checking every day until it happens basically....

God, I thought they would at least give some kind of helpful information, like: "we are going to be pulling off the waitlist on Thursdays, so check your email then." I guess we will all just have to wait and try to relax til the time comes

Why would it be June/July until we hear anything if there's been a lot of movement. I don't think I can wait another month.

He probably means that there will be continuous movement throughout June and July and to not give up hope if we don’t hear in May.
