Waitlist. OOS. Dang that makes a three for three.
Same. Not really sure what it means, since I was deferred since September. Better than a rejection I guess!

Is there a difference between being deferred and being put on the alternate list?

Do they release any stats on the alternate list? Like size, percent accepted, etc.?

Yes.. I was deferred since December and got the alternate list email just now..

No stat, looks like it is ranked but mail says they wont disclose the details 🙂

I've been silently rooting for you for like the past 5 months. I really hope you get in. You've always had good advice for people on this thread

Thanks, man! Means a lot 🙂 Luckily my state school put me on their high priority WL so I will likely be going there, so all hope is not lost for me. I just really liked GCSOM!

Thanks, you guys are why SDN is awesome! I just tried to stay active on the thread to be helpful 🙂

Just got put on the “alternate” list. Is this the same thing as a waitlist? How much movement is there on the waitlist?

MSAR Says 380 seats in the WL. 33 people were accepted on the WL. So under 10%. Take that for what its worth

Accepted earlier today! I was actually surprised because I thought I was headed to the waitlist after being deferred in December. It feels good to have my first MD acceptance after two years of applying and being waitlisted to death at other schools this year.

Have any March interviewees received decisions today? Congratulations everyone who just got good news

Just got my financial aid package under the Empower award letter for 2018. Did anybody else get dizzy from the amount of debt this all means?

My letter hasn't been posted yet but when I go to accept/decline aid, I can see how much I was allotted for loans.... Kind of scary lol. Apparently I'm not getting any grants/need-based aid either....

I got a paltry amount of need-based aid. Not enough to affect my decision to probably not go here but I think one could reasonably reduce the loan amount by 12-13k/year from the maximum they allow. Not a lot but I tell myself it is too reduce dizziness.

To be completely honest, I had no concept of just how expensive this schooling would be until I saw these numbers a few days ago (and now that the financial aid letter came out, officially). It's daunting. But hey, all the more motivation to try your very hardest to make darn sure you graduate with that degree in four years :nailbiting:

Placed on the alternate list today. Pretty bummed. Really liked this school, and thought my interviews went well. No connection to PA though. Buckling up for the long summer.

Might be a dumb question but I received an email that my financial aid info was available but I was not given a log in for empower. Did you guys receive a log in in the email?

Has anyone been rejected post interview? I’ve been deferred for awhile, but I haven’t gotten any update to my status while it seems like a lot of others have..

You should have gotten an email titled “important TCMC related info” or something along those lines that shows you how to set it up.

I interviewed in march and got accepted yesterday! it ended up being way faster turn around than they said it would be

Embarrassing question, but does anyone know if pre-matriculants are also tested for nicotine?

Probably not since nicotine is not an illicit substance. Although many health insurance companies now ask about tobacco/nicotine use to determine premiums and stuff.

Does anyone know the odds of getting off the waitlist?

Hey everyone! For those who are dead set on going to this school, I am currently looking for a roomie! PM me, I am in the MBS program starting in August.

Hey everyone, I'm currently on the "Alternate list" and today I got an email letting me know my position on the alternate list makes me eligible for automatic acceptance into the MBS program; Has anyone else gotten this same opportunity? I am trying to determine if this means I am towards the top of the list due to the offer, or towards the bottom. Any thoughts?

I got it too. I don't know what it means in respect to position. . . I was very confused by this LOL part of me thought it was an acceptance

Yeah same here, they start the email with a congratulations just for the immediate let down of still being wait listed. Still a great plan B if you don't already have an acceptance.

Yeah tell me about it.. I was like "Yes"... finally an acceptance... well short lived 🙂
Do you really think it is a great plan "B"??

Just putting my 2 cents in I think these SMPs and BMS degrees are just another way for the med school apps process to get our money. . . I think it would be more beneficial to get a more marketable masters (M.S., MBA, M.A., MPH, etc.) I am currently working on an MPH and think that it will help me more than taking med school anatomy twice to get a BMS. . .

Thanks a lot.. I was thinking about MPH from Jefferson as well. Good Luck and I will very happy to see your acceptance...

Thanks man! The MPH will teach you a lot about preventative measures. It’s not all fun to learn but will definitely help you as physician. I say go for it

Yes, it allows you to still apply to medical school for the next year (class of 2023), gives you another degree for your application, and guarantees you an interview at GCSOM. GCSOM also seems to pull largely from their MBS class.

I will be dropping my WL position. This is a great school and the focus on the community is spectacular!! I got an offer from my state school so it looks as if my dreams are becoming a reality. Best of luck, all!

Congratulations!!!

Will the application portal update the "communication status" if you are accepted from the waitlist? Or do they just send an email

Hi everyone, congratulations to those who have been accepted! I am applying to Geisenger next cycle, and had a question: how seriously do you think this program would take an applicant from the west coast with solid stats? I've been doing a lot of research on medical schools, and I'm really drawn to Geisinger, and some of their community-based initiatives. There seems to be a range of different clinical experiences for students (ex FCE & the longitudinal integrated clerkship) that are pretty unique. I'm going to apply, but I'm not sure if I should get my hopes up. I am going to communicate my specific interest in Geisinger in my secondary, but I have no ties to the state of PA. I'm hoping some current students on this thread could provide some info regarding classmates who are OOS (did they have family in PA? approx how many people are from the west coast per class?). Thank you in advance!!
