2017-2018 Tulane University Application

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I would submit your secondaries ASAP. When I spoke to admissions officers at a few schools that I applied to when I last applied, one of them literally told me that my application was likely not reviewed because my application was late. Don't make the same mistake as I did!

how late were you submitting your application?

Seconded. Also does that mean secondary submission or app completed? Cause my secondaries have been in for weeks but waiting on the committee letter. (I know I complain about this a lot on this thread.... but I literally have nightmares about this committee letter BS)

Just received my green check mark! I didn't receive my app until 7/19 (AMCAS was verified beginning of June) and I was complete 7/20. It is nice to finally join in on the fun!

It's funny but I think having a committee hurts your chances here. By the time it's in and they give you that checkmark and you get reviewed at least half of the interviews are gone it seems.

Starting to think that having a committee hurts your chances everywhere...

Thanks for the reply, I thought it was still considered early in the cycle prior to labor day? When were you complete?

Yeah I thought so too. I submitted my secondary for that school on 8/22, two years ago. This was 18 days after I had received the secondary so perhaps that could have been a factor. From what I gathered, if you're at the school's median in terms of GPA and MCAT, it's in your best interest to submit everything as early as possible.

Crap, I have my third interview for the program tomorrow so I am hoping that since I have jumped through all the hoops there is a quick turn around so I can get this application in. If I do not find out in a few days I will take your advice and submit thank you.

Ive spoken to Deans of a couple of medical schools and they have told me that me not being able to get a committee letter (my school does not offer it) will actually hurt my application so I think you should be okay! Good luck!

Well that is some real bs my school does not offer one either

whats the average turnaround time from green check to II? Do they email you a rejection if you dont get a II or do they not tell you anything? Thanks!

Good luck on the interview!

That's kind of a relief, haha thanks! Sorry they said it will hurt you-- I think it's kind of a damned if you do, damned if you don't. I'm frustrated with my letter, but if it's a good letter then I think it should really help. Of course I could wait for months and then get a bad letter anyway.... Not sure there's any good way to go about this process lol.

I keep telling myself that in the end its the quality of the letter and not who it is from, but I do think a committee letter looks better based on what the Deans told me. Good luck getting your letter though! Hopefully it is a kick butt letter

Does anyone know the %chance of acceptance after receiving an II?

I signed up for 11/16 as well - first available

Congrats on the II! I got my interview on Tuesday and the first available date was Nov 30. But I also signed up later in the day, so it seems like they give out limited interview slots for Nov-Dec day by day.

I think I saw someone posted 66% but I'm not sure. It seems like they have a really low II % (less than 5%), but also that they don't interview an outrageous amount over the number of seats they have. Which is nice because if you get an II it seems to me like they are serious about you.

Hey guys and gals,
Best of luck! I attend medical school here so if anyone has a question or two feel free to reach out either here or PM. Interview spots fill up really early but there's also a LOT of movement that happens later on in the cycle. Keep your chin up of you're still waiting on the green check mark!
Was just wondering how long after your interview did you hear back?

Completed on the 24th, still no green check mark urghhhh

I was complete 7/18 and received the green check mark on 7/26. It is safe to say that I would do some unthinkable things to receive an interview from Tulane:banana:

Complete 7/16 and still no word ugh

Thank you everyone <3.

To answer questions, I was completed 7/10, so I assumed it was a rejection email since those completed after me were getting interviews and it says online they review apps in order. Earliest date right now is Thursday, Dec 7
