Kind of ridiculous that Albany is requiring both parents info. I don't feel comfortable including one of my parent's info as I was not raised by them, but I don't want to select unknown as that wouldn't be truthful

Yeah. I was in the same boat. Plus I think it's a touch insensitive since not every applicant has or knows of both parents' information.
 
If anybody has any questions about the general area, restaurants, hotels, transportation, or the hospital... I’ve been working here for a few years and might be able to answer them. I did notice that the interview page has a lot of great information already, though!
 
do you guys think it would be a big deal if I didn't submit any letters from my most meaningful activities? I would submit the typical letters of 2 science and 1 non-faculty

I don't think it would be a huge deal. I didn't submit a letter from the experience that I selected as the most "most meaningful" on the secondary and it was fine. I submitted the 3 faculty letters (2 science, 1 non-science) along with 2 clinical letters. Only one of my clinical letters was from a meaningful AMCAS experience.
 
On MSAR it says Albany doesn't begin application reviews until September 1st. Are the people who got II ED?
 
For the most meaningful secondary question do yall know if we can add another new meaningful experience or does it have to be from the list we gave to AMCAS.
Or do yall think I can link my EMT rotation W/A entry to my job as an EMT?

Different question altogether. If you have not had a lapse in your activity whether it be school or job, then leave it blank.

They send secondaries out in batches so I would wait until end of this week to email them if you still have not received it.

I put my gap year activity here because it asks for us for post-graduate history as well since I started new activities and ended the ones on AMCAS.

It asks you to explain gaps in employment after you graduate...as in explain why you weren't working at any time. Doesn't sound like you interpreted the question correctly.

Haha I didn’t read this very closely when I submitted... I used this for gap year activities but I got an II anyway. When you get an interview there’s another opportunity to explain what you’ve done since the secondary so I think gap year is a slight misinterpretation. Didn’t hurt me though

I also put my gap year essay and got an II. It’s definitely a gap year/post-graduate question. Don’t over think it

It’s definitely not. It asks for “gaps” in education or employment post-graduation. You got an II, but misinterpreted the prompt. It’s fine, I’m sure many people do which they anticipate. Would not recommend to others though to write something in they are not asking for.

So I had another question to ask admissions so I emailed them asking for clarification about this as well and they said talking about gap years would be appropriate here.

It literally asks for you to "explain any extended gaps in activity/employment in your post-graduate history." Perfectly suitable to talk about post-graduate activities aka gap year activities that aren't on your primary. If you didn't put anything and left it blank, I'm sure you'll be fine.

Right. So this applies to periods of stagnation when you weren't doing anything. You weren't volunteering, working, doing hobbies, etc. "activity" is a substantial word to refer to ongoing commitments. If you transitioned straight out of undergraduate into a volunteer position or employment then there were no gaps as they define it. You're leaving out the word "gap" and instead using it to explain your activities which isn't what the prompt is getting at. But you're right, it's negligible. I was merely suggesting given the language of their prompt, one shouldn't take it upon themselves to write in things that they didn't ask for. Obviously it isn't a make or break it, but since others who haven't turned in the secondary might read this, would be useful for them to understand the prompt correctly.

Like I mentioned above, when I emailed admissions they said that explaining gap year activities would be appropriate here. It might just be an oddly worded question and someone else can double check with admissions if they would like, but I don't think it'll hurt you either way. Either they get more info about you or they don't and you can explain it if given an interview. Either way, like you mentioned, probably not make or break.

Chill lol. If people are getting II's both with and without, theyre probably self aware enough to realize its a poorly worded question.
 
Haha someone asked about how to interpret the question so we were clarifying. If people have been incorrectly interpreting it and getting IIs then obviously it's not a problem. Regardless, it's obviously not a question asking you to explain your gap year simply because it has the word "gap" in the question haha. Seems as though the question doesn't matter much either way.

I don't think they would yield protect at the secondary level, the office is probably just very busy it took me 3 weeks to get mine and I was verified before 6/28.
 
Turns out they had sent the secondary 8/9. I check my spam and promotion folders every day, after a search still no secondary. They just "resent" the link to me. Worth reaching out after 3+ weeks I'd say.

I recall seeing that the 11am start ends at 4:30, yes.

The Albany airport is very, very small, so you shouldn’t worry about 2 hours not being enough time. The drive is about 20-30 minutes depending on traffic, and you’ll be through security in no time.

Hi everyone,
I'm applying here this cycle ( pre writing secondary bc I just my MCAT back so I just submitted primary to this school and waiting on it).
For the " inconsistencies" prompt, do I need to mention the two W's on my app? Or is that only if specifically asked about it ? ( I know the consensus is not to unless asked but they say " academic" so...)
Also, for the " describe yourself", is that just...like..selling yourself? ( I am empathetic, etc.) Can you describe the start of your journey to medicine like you might in your PS?

This is more about who you are as a person unrelated to medicine. your personality, interests, and a chance to show a nonrobotic side of you

Huh. Is there still a "selling yourself" side to it? ( Like describing yourself as friendly). What about that last prompt..." The most meaningful activity one" ...how do I make that different than what I already put in AMCAS?

Yeah, but theres a selling yourself side to every single secondary question. "Look at my experience" "Look at how I'm able to learn so much from this" etc.

For that last prompt, I reused an MME and said this is objectively why it led me into medicine. MMEs didnt have to lead you into medicine, they were just meaningful to you. If I recall the Albany prompt, this one is saying why it was formative in your pathway to medicine
