Just got an II here.
Can anyone who interviewed give me a run down on the school? I live in NYC so I could easily go, but I'm already accepted to a higher ranked program (Miami) and just wondering if anyone has thoughts on the overall school that could help me decide whether to interview! thanks!
edit - don't want to sound ungrateful, just wanna be sure im not wasting my time or theirs 🙂

Will you be going to the interview? I'm scheduled for 2/24

got both an acceptance and an under consideration email lol... anyone else?
which came first? wondering if you were like, one point shy of the A cutoff and then someone gave up an acceptance which bumped you up.

This is an appropriate time to call admissions to see their answer @people with double emails

TurtelyReady4Med is asking the following:

To those who received two contradictory emails, perhaps this would be a good time to call the admissions office to receive a definitive answer on whether you are UC or A 🙂
Ahhh I understood if we have two email address 🤣 I was like well now I'm worried. Hahaha thank you!

Called and left a message around 4:30 pm EST, they probably won't get back to me until Monday.
But, my portal said I'm accepted and I've filled out the paperwork since we only get 3 days to do so and Monday would have been cutting it close.

What is the interview day like? My scheduled day says it's only from 8am-12pm. Although I've seen previous posts saying that they had two groups that switch off and go until the late afternoon. Maybe it's different for interviews in March..

During my interview (which was also 8AM-1PM), the group was split to A and B. Group A interviewed first while the others were touring and then we swapped. At around 12 we had lunch and then a few speakers and a student panel. It ended right around 1-1:30PM. I do believe that there is another set of interviewees that come in the afternoon around 3? But that’s not part of the morning group.

Okay got it, thanks for clarifying that for me!

Count on Albany for wrongly accepting students to only put them under consideration in a follow up email.

I am UC, and since my interview I've had 3 publications (two first author), got a 4.0 GPA fall semester, and was awarded a national research award which is flying me out to a national research conference in 2 weeks fully funded. Albany has no clue about any of this but I feel it could help my case massively. Is it possible in any way that they would accept an update on all this? I feel like the admissions director said at one point that massive updates would be allowed in rare cases. is it worth a shot?

Of course!

i think you're already scored if you're on UC anyway. i don't think any updates at this point will change that rank number.

I would have to respectfully disagree I think those are all major updates that are worth sending to Albany.
I agree they are major and I don't mean to undermine their importance... but it was my understanding if you're on the UC list, your rank has been determined. Go for it @2Broke2bMD! You've got nothing to lose. Ultimately hoping you get accepted either way!

Ok folks, important question: is EVERYONE who has interviewed been getting A/ UC, or are there people who have already been rejected post interview???

has Albany sent out ANY rejections????

In my interview they said yes, they do reject people post interview. They made it seem like a ranking based on score (from apps, interview, etc.) The top (some unknown) percent get straight- A and then the bottom x percent get straight Rs. Everyone else in the middle gets UC.
They were very honest about their process so I think they’re not lying about handing out straight-Rs.

I think it's hard to tell on these forums since people are less likely to report a post II R than they are UC or As.
