2019-2020 Drexel

My email also came in at 9:46AM EST this morning. Looks like they finally processed the last batch of late November/early December interviewees. I wonder if they just didn't get to reviewing our applications by the late January decision date? (though I'm not sure why we weren't put on "deferred" status if that was the case...)

So to those late December/early January applicants who are still waiting - try not to stress too much, no news isn't necessarily bad news! It took almost exactly 3 months to the day to receive an acceptance after I interviewed.

did anybody hear bad news today?

Any other early december (12/5) people who still havent heard anything?

Late Nov and still haven’t heard...
thats actually relieving. alright looks like we're waiting til next month. or does anybody think they will keep sending decisions this week? last years thread looks like the next round of decisions went out the second week of March.

hey so question when we accept the deferral on the application portal is it supposed to change?

Mine didn’t and I called to check, they said it went through, but if you are paranoid you can always call or email they are usually happy to check!

Deferred, interviewed early December. Do deferred applicants ever get accepted at future decision dates or is this pretty much a soft WL/R?

Did anyone receive their financial aid package? And was it underwhelming?
Yup, lol. Got to apply for Grad PLUS to cover the remainder now.

Also lol @ Work Study funding for med school

I just got an interview invite today. I am gauging if I should go. I was waiting for this school to show me some love and had lost hope but I got accepted somewhere else and I am also waiting on some decisions so idk if I should keep going to interviews

I mean, unless you are accepted to your top choice or a school that you know you would rather attend than Drexel then I would take it. This is also barring travel expense etc

were you put on hold or anything before getting your II?

How do we know our financial aid? Did we have to apply to something? Guessing just FAFSA right?

What is a good place to live if one were eventually accepted? I’m not from Philly, and I hear some areas are really not safe. Does it make a difference whether you have a car?

I heard that students are split either living in North Philly close to where the school is, or in Center City, which is the downtown Philly area. It all depends if you prefer convenience or more things to do/eat around where you live. Not sure about how accessible the school is by public transportation so a car is a probably a good choice.

Very. The Queen Lane station of Regional Rail is a block or so away. Lots of buses too. also a shuttle from center city to QL exists (albeit much more limited hours since HUH closed)

Would it be at all doable to live somewhere like Phoenixville? You can just get a lot more space for the same price a little further out (my kids need some room to not drive my wife insane)... also, is it a lottery to get clinical rotations in Reading or can you get that pretty easily?

Well.. it’s ~30 min without traffic. You’d be driving on the hell that is 76 during rush hour.

Rotations are all a lottery.

I would only opt for this commute if you like spending time in your car in near grid-lock traffic 2x a day better than spending time with your family

lol I just got an email that they are holding my application and will "re-evaluate later in the year" for an interview. I had pretty much lost hope at this school. Does anyone know how late they interview, it already feels pretty LATE in the year.

Interview into April

II this morning! I am holding an acceptance to my in-state school (high tier) and am wondering if it’s worth the trip across the country to see Drexel? I am interested in rural medicine if that helps at all. Would love input from those who have interviewed or know more about the school.

Hey just my $.02 here but if you’re interested in drexel go for it!

If i already had an a to a high tier in state school my decision would be made. Lower tuition, closer to home, high tier, that’s the dream right there!

Any Early January Interviews get in this week? more likely we hear in March or April, right?

I know that rotations are all lottery based but if any M3 or M4 students are on here, how hard is it to get assigned to the Sacramento site for all of 3rd year? My family's all in SoCal and at least being within the same time zone as them would be great.

They give out multiple (not sure exactly how many) merit-based scholarships. Mine is 30K/year which works out to a little over half-tuition. I know a couple of my friends also received similar scholarships!
may i ask your stats?
