2019-2020 Drexel

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
interviewed today - was super conversational and the students seemed to like the school (though many admit it's the only place they got in). They seem to not be worried about the Hahnemann closure but I'm still wary. The facilities are a bit dilapidated and the cadaver lab is cramped and smells gross probs cuz it's old.

this is their data from 2018:
Drexel988 IS apps390 IS II222 IS A98 IS mat10081 OOS apps822 OOS II495 OOS A158 OOS mat56.92% IS post-II A60.22% OOS post-II A
at the interview they gave us the data from 2019:
14,067 apps submitted (designated on AMCAS), 11,718 completed applications, 1,506 interviews, 811 accepted, 260 matriculants

Also, if you're parking there, there is ample street parking across the street that is free if you don't want to pay $10 to park in the guest lot!

edit: they also give you a t-shirt at the end of the day!

Placed on hold today 🙁 Received complete email on 9/5 OOS
+1. Complete on the same day, 09/05. OOS, no ties to the state.

Is hold more or less equivalent to R? Does anyone get off of hold, since it seems so many are going on hold?

Congrats to everyone who gets a II and accepted.

Based on last year's thread, some people do get II after a hold. We just have to wait and see...

I think some is a strong word I think someone said like 1 or 2 people did. But please correct me if I am wrong -- i am certainly not always right.

I am not sure how many but it doesn't seem like a lot of people receive II after a hold. But I like to stay hopeful 🙂

If anyone has read last year's thread and remembers...are the late interviews typically to people on hold or to people who are complete with no status change for months?

Considering HUH only had 1/3 of all clinical students rotating at a given time, it isn’t as dire as you’d think. I wouldn’t worry about Hahnemann at all as an applicant.

And yeah, the anatomy lab smells, but formaldehyde is nasty and the smell sticks to everything.

Anyone who is local or interviewed. Can you recommend a good part of town to airbnb or get a hotel? I will be in town for a couple days visiting the 3 med schools in the area.

Center city, manayunk, fishtown

Avoid germantown, kensington (just north philly in general), west philly (cue Will Smith)

Center City gives the most access to the most stuff.

if you're visiting the others and money isn't an issue, the Rittenhouse square area is really nice but anywhere in center city will do and will get you close enough to Jeff and a subway ride away from Temple Med (or Uber)... I wouldn't really recommend staying near Drexel's med school and def don't stay in North Philly near Temple Med.

Added that dont stay near DUCOM because there isn’t anything to do with the exception of Manayunk lol

It’s not a call out it’s a joke from the basestool podcast pardon my take. It’s like a joke you just say it when someone says something without the intention of showing off but it’s still cool, and you say not to brag. Lolol sorry for the confusion.

does anyone have recommendations for nearby hotels or airbnbs? i'd prefer within walking distance if possible

There aren't hotels within walking distance. I stayed at the marriot courtyard park city drive it was about a 5 minute uber.

Pre-II hold :/ What are the chances of getting an interview? Is this like a subtle R?

Question, did anyone that has interviewed ask when us early interviewers will hear decisions. I know it took foreverrrr last year. Any insight anyone?

I interviewed last week and they said they review interviewee apps every month to accept/reject/hold! So hopefully by the end of October they will start handing out some acceptances?

(And they said last year they accepted like ~750/1500 interviewees, so good luck!)

Just placed on hold. Complete 7/10. Does anyone know when they send out official Rs?

Can anyone that is interviewing soon please ask when they intend to begin releasing decisions?
