Looking at last years thread, someone who interviewed on 9/19 didn’t get an acceptance until December which makes me feel a little better about this. Hopefully that gives you guys hope too!

Going into the application season, I really underestimated the pain of having to wait. I thought, hey if I survived the MCAT, this can't be that bad, right? I was so wrong.
 
Another Tuesday has passed and since there is nothing left to do except take solace in neuroticism....
Using last year's thread, I think that we still got a solid 6 Tuesdays left 🙂 (not counting Dec 24 & 31) before Final pool in mid January!
So 6 more chances guys!! Also I predict final pool will be announced January 17 with no admissions coming out the Tuesday of that week.
This is pure speculation but I hope this helps as we wait! :corny:

Carver M2 speaking. The CCOM adcom made it very clear to me when I had interviewed that they not only try to find very capable candidates but they also try to create a nice mix, for example, of students who hope to do more research, students who hope to do more clinical work, students who are interested in primary care, students who come from different backgrounds, etc. So this process takes time. I sympathise with you all, I have gone through this process, but grit is also a good quality for a med student and a doctor! So the waiting process, as stressful and irritating as it is, will actually be helpful for you once you are in school. I also would highly recommend enjoying what free time you have left now to do stuff that you like. Once you start med school, you will have much less time to just relax and hang out. Also it might help reduce your stress level now.

I was wondering when did your class start to get info about financial aid/scholarships?

If the financial aid application was already submitted, I think most students hear back quickly after confirming their acceptance, even within a week, but that might be dependent on the time of year and other factors, and I can not verify that the turnaround Is the same for every student. However, that question might be better directed at the financial aid office.

I did a little bit of digging on this after getting accepted and I think I remember seeing that they wouldn't be up until January at the earliest. Like they said at the interview I think getting the FAFSA done ASAP is really the big thing.
 
Any point in sending in an update or loi pre-II here? I live in iowa (not a resident), work for the university, spouse in school here and haven't heard a thing. Nothing significant to update really other than more volunteering/clinical hours. Would just reaffirm with them that I live here and would like to stay

this is gonna be a deep dive of paranoia but...does anyone know what carver’s policy is for sending out II with regards to LORs? as in, do they send out IIs before looking at letters? if anyone who has interviewed here heard anything from any deans related to that question, i would appreciate your sharing <3

I don't think you even have to have your letters in before you submit your primary! Approving the letters is part of the secondary app

The OP is talking about the adcoms reading their LORs before sending the person an II. I'm assuming OP wants some reassurance that his letters don't have anything negative that could sink his app.

I had one LOR that was brought up in another interview (a professor gave me an LOR for MD/PhDs but I only applied MD) and it didn't hurt that much b/c I got accepted here

Yeah I just assumed if they don't ask for them until your secondary that they don't read them pre-secondary either

This was a fear of mine because my letter writers thought I was applying MSTP.. I told them in the email that I was MD only but unsure if they still wrote it

ding ding, got a few early IIs in September and radio silence since. guess im worried that the schools that invited me were ones that don’t look at recs until the committee meets post-interview
