"alternates may be notified of acceptance through the third week in July" does this mean that they will notify us (waitlsit) on the 3rd week of July>??? Dont the classes start in July? so if ur accepted you have like 4 days to find housing, drop everything ur doing and move?
They are saying this is a possibility. You could be notified tomorrow, you could be notified the night before class starts, or you may never be notified.

I got accepted off of the alternate list this year at the beginning of the 3rd week in July so it very much does happen. I think about 5-6 people in my class were even accepted after me! Classes started about 2 weeks after I got in. It was a wild ride getting everything together after getting the call but it’s very much a possibility!

That's interesting since mine is worded slightly differently. I interviewed at Seton hill awhile back and mine says:

" We received your confirmation to accept a seat on the Alternate list. You will be informed as changes are made to your status. Notification of acceptance may occur up until the first day of class."

Now I'm being paranoid about me basically being rejected instead of on a realistic waitlist 🙁

That was a quick turnaround! Congrats!
Unfortunately for me, that means that I will be checking the portal 20 times a day now starting on the 20th and everyday will be an exercise in anxiety when I check the mailbox...

100% will be doing the same knowing it's not going to change

The alternate list is the waitlist. There's no need to get hung up on the verbiage that you got compared to someone else. I'm pretty sure they aren't automated emails so people's emails could very well be slightly different depending on who sends it and how they are feeling that day. All of the alternate list emails mean the same thing. It just means that it may take a little longer to get an acceptance but it is by no means a rejection. LECOM has a TON of waitlist movement. Just be patient.

When were you alternate listed? Does it go by date?

For those of you who are a bit neurotic like myself, you can sign up for Informed Delivery to get a daily email showing you the front of most envelopes you’ll be receiving that day, unless it’s too large for their scanner. USPS already scans your mail anyway for internal purposes, so this just gives you access to those scans. That way you‘re not let down every time you check the mailbox, you’ll know if the LECOM letter will be delivered that day (occasionally the mail that is scanned gets delivered in the next day or two, but if you see a letter from LECOM in the scans and then it doesn’t arrive after like 3 days then USPS may have lost it, and I would contact LECOM to let them know)

Edit: It’s free 🙂

Last cycle in mid-May after interviewing in March. Got accepted come mid-July. I’m pretty sure they look at the entire alternate list anytime they are looking to accept someone off of it. Doesn’t matter when you were put on it.

For interview day, does anyone know if we can store our luggage at erie?

Did you send a letter of intent at some point before getting accepted from the waitlist?

Does anyone know if there has been a Facebook group created for the LECOM Seton Hill Class of 2024?!

Does anyone know if LECOM sends pre-II R’s?
I did some research on the past cycles, it seems like everyone who does not receive an II is silently rejected. No emails or portal updates. Unfortunate :/

Does anyone know how late into the app cycle this school sends IIs? Is it too late to submit primary? (I know I'm pushing it)

I have an interview scheduled in January at Seton Hill. I thought this was the most convenient option since I currently live in Pittsburgh. Would it be worth it if I asked for an interview at Erie for a closer date? I wouldn't mind the drive since my work has been very flexible!

Ironically they ended up calling me and asking me to move up my interview date since I'm in the area!

Anyone have a status update/portal change that interviewed on 12/6?
I also interviewed on 12/6. My LECOm account says something along the lines: Thank you for interviewing, the committee is making a decision.
Same with yourself?

Yes yes, mine does say that too.

I am applying next cycle and i am anxious for the people on the alternate list! Good luck! I am sure the same thing will happen to me. Does anyone know how they will look at SMP grades? compared to my low 3.26 ugsGPA.

Interviewed at SH on 12/16. But will probably have to wait longer for decision since I'm waiting for a letter of rec 🙁

What is SMP?

I don't know about specifics for how they look at SMP but I'd HIGHLY recommend applying to them ASAP. I was interviewed August and knew that I was accepted on September 30.

SMP = Special Masters Program. They help build up lower science GPAs to make applicants more competitive.
My sGPA is 3.4, my non-science struggled more during my sophomore year due to a family emergency. I have nothing but A+ for the last 55 hours. SMP is almost the same as first-year med school (70% of the same classes) which can show academic potential more clearly.
They are pretty lenient in terms of grades! They really want to see if your well-rounded which will be evaluated on interview day!
That's reassuring, it's one of my top choices for DO schools.

Thanks! It looks really pretty. Any advice?

Your interview does not weigh a lot on the admissions committee decision, so don't put too much pressure on it. Make sure you know your general why medicine/why do/why lecom. Ask the students as many questions as you want! Everyone was super kind and welcoming during my interview, and since I was accepted all the admissions people have been helpful!

Oh! Thanks for the advice. What is it based on then?

Look up information on how to prep for a group interview. I had never been part of one before. The group I was part of each took turns speaking to answer questions. We did not speak over each other. Most people spoke like they were 'walking on eggshells'. In other words, everyone agreed with each other. I may have stood out as I disagreed with a point somebody else made, and made sure to explain why I disagreed. Not sure if that was beneficial or detrimental to myself as I have not yet received a letter from LECOM.

Only other advice: have an open mind about the school and campus. I've read a lot of misinformation about the school on multiple websites. Just form your own opinion and decide if it is the correct school for you.

Does the deposit have to be at LECOM on the due date or does it have to be post marked and sent out on the day it is due? Sorry if this has been answered
