2019-2020 Morehouse

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Received the secondary the day my application was verified on July 15th. Submitted and Complete on July 15th and interview invitation on October 1st.

I take it you prewrote the secondary if you submitted it that fast right?

Does anyone know how accurate the MSAR data for Morehouse is? It says they interview 418, waitlist ~200, and then accept ~100 off the WL. That means they must accept like 300 people out of 400. To those who have interviewed, did they discuss these numbers?

None of the faculty members really discussed any numbers (rough or actual) when I was there, but the second year student who led my group’s tour (I want to say that he serves on the committee) made it seem like the post-interview acceptance rate is like around 50%. Yes, Morehouse is ultra competitive, but if you can secure that interview, it would appear that you then have a very good chance of gaining acceptance.

Acceptances =/ matriculants

I'd bet morehouse is the safety school for lots of applicants

I called the other day to get an "update on my application" and they said that they have sent out rejections recently so if you haven't gotten one, it looks good for you and to hold tight.
When did you interview?

Do you know if they reject my email or regular mail?

Been submitted since 9/13 stil haven’t heard back about a secondary, even sent an experience update on 10/3 which they responded:
“Noted.

Best,

MD Admissions“

Any one in a similar situation?

Ouch... rejected today.
reapplicant, but at least last time theykept me hanging on until may

Do you think there's any realistic shot of getting an interview invite to Morehouse with a sub 495 MCAT score and a cumulative GPA of 3.80 with a science GPA of 3.76?

MSAR says that from 2018, the 10th percentile MCAT was a 497, so it certainly seems like a possibility, especially if you fit their mission statement

Is there anyone here who applied to Morehouse with a sub 495 MCAT and received a secondary invite or an interview invite?

One thing that I was not aware of until I interviewed was that Morehouse is actually a part of a study with AMCAS to track how well MCAT scores portray how students will do in medical school. That being said, they mentioned how sometimes people with low scores do well and those with high scores struggle. I feel like a low MCAT score shouldn't worry you as they are willing to accept any student they believe fits their mission statement and values.

Very true! My interviewer pulled out an entire poster-sized chart with data to support this!

I interviewed 9/13 and still waiting. I might call today for a status update.
Let me know what they say if you do. I was informed that they would have sent an email of “continued consideration” if they don’t accept you right off hand which is slighty odd since they didn’t send you guys anything after the first batch of acceptances.

I called and the lady just said "You'll know by email of your status".

Same. I'm sure they already know the status since we interviewed 2 months ago, but I guess they're waiting to send the emails? idk this process is confusing

I interviewed 8/24. Imagine how much longer this wait has been killing me. I've had too much time to rethink answers etc. geez. Really hoping for an acceptance, as I really enjoyed interview day.
