Not gonna say which ones specifically. But UChicago, JHU, Yale, NYU, Pittsburgh, and Michigan already came out.
Ummm while all very fine schools, check your rank lists. In no national rank list is Uchicago, Yale or Pitt T10. T 20 yes.

there are more than 10 schools in T10, and there are more 20 schools in T20. I'm not going off of this year's version of US News.

Hey. You do you, bro. I'm sure you will make a very find docta. 🙂

People with high stats have been invited by several top 10 schools but ignored by by other top 10s altogether in the past. It does happen.
dang i really wanted NYU lol. Also thought they liked stats people. Hoping they just haven't read my app yet.

Possible they have not read your app yet and they are probably triggering some right away based on stats but also otherthings besides stats and not completely based on high stats.

Subtle flex

Seriously, as if you're entitled to interviews at EVERY SINGLE SCHOOL you apply to cause you got interviews elsewhere. Get out of here with that attitude. I know a lot of friends who still haven't gotten a single interview and this dude complaining about his first world problems lol

Hey guys I submitted my secondary here last week but am not interested in the 3 year MD route so I left the tertiary blank. I have a little green check mark indicating my application is complete but I have a red check mark next to the tertiary application row and I haven't received a complete email or any sort of communication telling me I am complete. Do I have to to submit a blank tertiary in order to be fully complete?? Thank you!

I think I got a conf email the day I submitted, but I didn’t do anything with the tertiary. My CASPER was scored by that time, could that be it?

I left it blank w a red check and didn’t get a complete Email and got an II so I you’re fine

How did you guys approach the "unique qualities or experiences" essay? More diversity essay or why NYU? What did you focus upon?

Mine was more a fusion type. It was my diversity essay + how being in NYC would be ideal for me due to my unique qualities. Don't think there is a wrong or right answer to how to approach it though

Does anyone know if this character count for the essays is with or without spaces? Also does anyone know if the teritary app is working yet?

"The Admissions Committee uses a holistic approach to evaluate a wide range of student qualities and life experiences that are complementary to demonstrated academic excellence, strong interpersonal skills and leadership potential. What unique qualities or experiences do you possess that would contribute specifically to the NYU School of Medicine community?"

This almost makes it seem like it isn't a diversity essay, but rather how we would contribute to a specific style that NYU has (so the opposite of diverse lol?). Almost like they want a why this school that relates aspects of NYU to aspects of our personal lives/application

I'm confused on how to handle this one. Do they have some list of core values somewhere?

YMMV, but I got an interview and I literally copied and pasted my diversity essay without making it specific to NYU.

Does anyone have a spare 5-10 minutes right meow to do a once-over of my NYU tertiary about interventional radiology?

At this point if my stats are just as good as these folks' and all these people are saying that they've had these fast interview turnarounds, should I assume that they're not impressed with my application and I won't be getting an interview? Is it possible that I just have a slower application reader? Trying to find reasons to keep the faith.

Relax, it's still the beginning of August

Edit: If it makes you feel better, I haven't even submitted to NYU yet

Bro you seriously need to cool it with the neuroticism. Do you realize it's still the beginning of August? If it makes you feel better, I haven't even submitted to NYU yet
No I get his worries. People were getting interviews within a week of submitting. But there hasn’t been any ii movement lately so just wait for the next wave. I’m pretty sure you’ll be in that one bro

Anyone know what NYU's true post II acceptance rate is? I know they told their applicants 10% last year but I heard that was a conservative figure they threw around since they couldn't project their yield rate

anyone know what the post interview acceptance rate was like last year?

They interview ~1000 applicants for 100 seats. Hard to say what their yield is, but I would guess the acceptance rate is something like 15-25%?

For schools like this which require Casper has anyone seen any way to confirm Casper was received? Not one school that requires it on my list shows a Casper status on their portal. I can’t help feeling if it’s missing that could be why an application doesn’t go to the next step even if it’s “complete” in the portal because Casper isn’t part of their list of items.

Apparently, last year (or the year before), NYU received 7659 applications. They interviewed 1211 applicants (15.8%) and accepted 360 students for a post interview acceptance rate of 29.73%.
Where did you see this? I'm willing to bet it was the year before last year. Hard to imagine ~160 students turning down free tuition.

Quick question on LOR requirement. I am a little confused by its requirement. If I'm a non-traditional applicant, can two LOR from colleagues with whom I’ve worked closely replace the two professors (at least one in science) LOR or is it additional?

The two professors are required. The colleague ones are “encouraged”

A reddit post with the post interview acceptance rates of each school. Apparently it was updated august 2018.
so that would be before they made it free. I would imagine the number changed dramatically since then.

Yes, but I'm pretty sure that will reflect data from the prior cycle (2016-17). I don't think data from the current cycle that is winding up right now will be available publicly until next Spring through popular sources like USNWR and MSAR. Maybe information is available directly from the schools earlier? Hopefully someone will correct me if I am wrong.

I also expect NYU's yields to differ dramatically from what they were in the past. Even last year (for the cycle just ended), free tuition wasn't known until the White Coat Ceremony last August 16th, which would have been a little late to first submit a primary and be competitive if one had not already been submitted. As a result, the current 2019-20 cycle is the first one in which everyone knows about free tuition from the outset, and the NYU admission stats that are released in Spring 2021 will be the first to fully incorporate NYU's new model. It's probably safe to assume, based on an expected spike in applications and yield, that their acceptance rate and II rate will plunge, if that's even possible given how low they already are. 🙂

This is the way I see it. NYU before giving out free tuition was still receiving very high stat applicants. Anybody applying to Harvard was likely also applying to NYU, Chicago, Duke ext...

Therefore, even if they have a spike in apps, it is probably from people who have no business applying in the first place (i.e, the person with a 510 who says "might as well they have free tuition"). Anyone who was initially competitive already applied in last cycles so I dont think it will actually make a difference as to how competitive it becomes (after all, if your in the running with a 523 MCAT, are you really worried about the random applicant across the country with a 511 who is now applying but wasn't before? All the 523s were already applying to NYU!

In terms of yield it might make a difference yes but at the same time, people who get into NYU are likely also getting into other top schools and many of those schools will match aid. Not to mention, I dont think NYU will poach too many students from Hopkins, Harvard, or Stanford regardless of free tuition. Just my two sense.

I totally agree with you, and what you are saying is consistent with what I heard from several admissions offices with respect to expected poaching from T5. You are 1,000% correct about all the underqualified people who might throw in an application, but that WILL serve to lower the overall admit rate, even though I hear what you are saying about the admit rate for those with median stats (and above) not changing. It will, however, dramatically alter the landscape for those in the bottom 25% of stats (for NYU), since the competition there will increase significantly.

I heard from several T20 schools that they do not intend to compete with NYU with respect to non-need based aid (i.e., merit money, or free tuition), and I guess it remains to be seen whether money will drive decisions away from them and towards NYU (assuming I am lucky enough to have this decision, a $250,000 difference in debt between Harvard, Penn, Columbia, Chicago, Vandy, etc. and NYU would absolutely tip the scale for me), and, if so, if that causes the other schools to rethink their position.

Either way, it's impossible for me to see how free tuition for all at a T10 school will not drive yield significantly higher, even if it does not propel NYU further up the rankings. Assuming their yield spikes, that will make it relatively more difficult in the future to score an II, since they will not have to meet as many applicants to hit a target class size. This will probably affect this year's cycle, since they already know what their yield was for the just completed cycle, even though that number is not yet available to us.
