2019-2020 Rush

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
when were you complete and what dates?

Hmm, I don't even know when anymore, so long ago, like July/August? Honestly I was really early, and I don't think that "completition date" stuff matters as much as people seem to make it seem.

Only 2 dates were Feb 19 and 26.

I think it's already been said, but I believe everyone on SDN is rooting for you. You have been so positive and patient. GO GET THAT A!
Sending you more positive vibes so that you may get more II. GL.
Thank you so so much, I appreciate you so much! I literally cannot express how supported I feel by you wonderful internet humans! May we all become the doctors we dream of being! 😍

Received II just now but the only day available is 2/26 when I have to be out of the country. If anyone has 2/12 and cancels please let me know! Would be devastated to miss out on such a great school

I also received a II today with 2/26 as the only available date. OOS, but spent 30 years in Illinois. LM 70-72. Veteran.

Call/Email them asap! They were able to reschedule me for an earlier date because someone cancelled.

II today for 2/26, in the email it stated this is the final interview date - super excited, hope it is not just for a waitlist position.
You never know what things/experiences/perspectives they are still missing from their class, they could be holding a few spots for their dream candidate, it could be you! Do your best preparing because you never know when you walk into an interview and it turns out to be the place you just have to be at! Best of luck. Last year interviewing I was convinced that I would not be happy attending any other school, I was waitlisted and interviewed again this year but accepted this time. When I interviewed and was accepted at Rush i promptly dropped the other acceptance because I was blown away by how well this school treated us in the interview and how nice the people were! I applied here as a stretch because it is fantastic school but what really sold me is how well classes seemed to like each other and the atmosphere that Rush is so careful to cultivate!

You are never truly interviewing for a waitlist. At this point there are very few acceptances left to give out, but as this person said beautifully: blow them away and youll get the A.

I really don’t think those of us interviewing in Feb are interviewing for waitlist because as of Jan they posted on their Instagram that they have given out ~150 acceptances and they usually accept about double that so that means about half of their acceptances come from those of us that interview in the new year! And it seems some folks who interviewed only a few weeks ago got straight up A’s too last Friday 🙂

If they have accepted 150 in Jan that means they have given out A more than their class size, sure a few will get the A right away but i think the higher proportion of the particular interview date will only be waitlisted at this time

Most schools give out double the amount of seats in acceptances in anticipation that a good amount of people will withdraw due to other acceptances. Rush in particular gives out about 300 acceptances

Here is all that matters. YOU have an interview. YOU have a shot to impress them. IF you impress them, they are going to give you the acceptance. There's no reason to speculate or anything like that. If they think youd be a good fit for the class whether you interviewed september 10th or Feb 20th you will get accepted.

They specifically mentioned at my interview day on 01/29 that they could accept every single interviewee from that day if they wanted to, and estimated they’d sent ~200 As so far. Last year they accepted 327 according to the info sheet from interview day! I think they also pull from their waitlist. They are known for their high post-interview acceptance rate for a reason! 🙂

That's what I like to hear!

I definitely agree it is just a wait game my friend last year had all except one interviews in Jan to even March and he was waitlisted for all schools but he got pulled out from two of them in June

Kind of a reach with ECs. My app is very heavy with research with average community service. I'm still gonna be a doctor though so I'm not bummed.

Good luck everyone. Yall are gonna make it
Thank you. My app is community service heavy but they haven't shown me any love. I'm sure I will get rejected soon considering they end their interviews in Feb and they probably have sent all of them out by now. Im just anxiously waiting for that rejection email lol.

Took that Pre-II axe too. Although, it was pretty much expected at this point. Almost just a formality/courtesy haha

anyone not receive a Pre-II R? I know it was mentioned that 2/26 is the last interview date, but I was wondering whether they are just rejecting in batches or if this means there is still hope or they just forgot about me.......

+1

When were you guys complete?

Came across this post on last year's Rush thread that does a good job of explaining active consideration for all who are a little confused:

"Hey! I was also confused about this during the interview. From my understanding, the committee meets every 2 weeks to "fine tune" their incoming class and they do this by pulling from the "active consideration" pool. Whereas the waitlist people aren't considered until later down the road. Hope this helps!"
