How selective is UCSF with sending out secondaries?
 
Anyone know when UCSF starts dishing out II's?
 
Did anyone get an application complete email? I got a Secondary Submitted email from UCSF but no complete email; portal shows my app as complete however.
 
Recent grad here....word to the wise: Do. Not. Go. To. UCSF.
Seriously.
You will graduate in tremendous amounts of debt, the new curriculum is terrible, and the administration is criminally unsupportive.
Go anywhere else, especially if you are given a good financial aid package.

I say this all the while having succeeded myself personally (currently at a top residency in a competitive speciality).

And got in off the waitlist apparently.... I guess they would have been better off without a medical degree?

It's hard to know if your experience would have been any different had you gone elsewhere. Sorry that it wasn't what you envisioned, but congratulations on your success nonetheless.

Basic science is far too condensed. You will feel marginally more comfortable on the wards when you start pre-clinical years, but not worth it given that your step 1 score will likely be worse. The first class that had the new curriculum had a much lower average step 1 score than previous classes.

They are eliminating Honors/Pass in 3rd year classes, which sounds good in theory, but will make applying to competitive specialties that much harder.

The financial aid is not adequate for the cost of living and housing costs are continuing to rise--you basically have zero chance of getting student housing. They rig the lottery so that grad students get housing, but med students don't, because they know that people will still come here for med school even if they have to pay an arm and a leg for housing.

In State. Still had a crazy amount of debt.

On average, UCSF students, even those in state graduate with higher debt than students who go to Stanford or Harvard.

I heard UCSF is quite generous with those who have low incomes though and with their need-based financial aid?

Not sure if there was already a discussion on this but what are people doing for the activities question? Like I could add more info but I wouldn't say anything major is missing from my AMCAS as-is. What's the consensus?

I just updated them on any activities still in progress and plans going forward up until matriculation.
