Will BU make a decision before receiving your transcript at the end of the fall semester? Or do they wait to see your transcript before giving you the admission decision? Asking for a friend...

So this confused me because most current seniors will not receive their fall transcript until mid-December.
In the interim, I sent my fall midterm grades. I believe they just want proof that you didn't suddenly start seriously slacking just becuase you've already submitted your applications.

But then again, I'm not on the admissions committe. So who knows

For anyone who has already interviewed, all we have on our actual interview day is the interview itself at the time they send to us, right? Thanks in advance!

Yup, you sign up under the tab for the student panel and Dean Goodell's talk at dates/times that work for you.

For those who interviewed, I heard it was largely conversational for many. I was just curious if you got asked ethical questions/ethical scenarios?

Thanks!

I was complete late August and haven't received a delay email. Anyone else in a similar situation?

(Sorry for the double post!) According to last year’s thread they said December or early January and decisions came out the second and third week of December. Of course, the timeline might have shifted this year.
I think the dean during the tour said that they plan on sending the decisions out before winter break (12/18) begins.

Starting the day off bright and early with a pre-II R. 🌞 Complete late-October.
I really felt like I fit BU's mission so well, poured my heart into the secondaries, and my stats were ok too. Kinda worries me knowing I spent like half the amount of time on other applications lol.
Congrats to those who made it + good luck to everyone waiting!!!! ⛄

For those who interviewed in late Nov or early December, are you expecting to hear back before December ends with at least preliminary decisions? At first it seemed like we would have to wait until the second round but the post interview email kind of seems otherwise?

I’m hoping we hear back. I feel like they wouldn’t have said so in the email if they didn’t intend on considering late November interviewees in round 1.

During the meeting with Dr. Goodell, she said decisions will go out in about a week for applicants who interviewed as late as “early November.” They already had the meeting and made decisions.
Did she say anything about mid or late November interviewees? The email made it sound like we were also being considered for round 1.

when was this meeting?

Gotta say, knowing that they’ve already made the decision makes this 100x worse

Edit: no shade to you gg_21, appreciate the info, it just sucks to know they could tell us but haven’t

Haha I’m sorry! Just reporting what was shared this morning. I’m sure there are details not available to us that may explain the delay.

Lots of luck and hugs to you all!!

No, she didn’t. She only said “early November.” She did not provide a cutoff date
Based on the meeting, and the fact that the post II email asked for an update letter by mid-November, I feel like it’s unlikely that late November interviewees will hear back in December.

I submitted my update letter in mid November but when I checked last Sunday it wasn’t there. I re-uploaded it and admissions confirmed they received it but I feel like the committee likely met prior to this week.

Hopefully they don’t interpret this as lack of interest and reject me 😵

Hello. I am requesting somebody to strike me hard enough to render me unconscious. When the decisions come out, please wake me up if accepted, leave me be if anything else.

Expecto Patronum

Maybe the committee for sure had enough time to discuss those who interviewed up to early November, and they have a lil leftover time to start but not finish discussing people who interviewed later, which is why that email sounds like everyone who has interviewed at a chance at hearing back.

Did people end up writing thank-yous to Dr. Goodell/anyone aside from their interviewer? Not sure what the standard is given that the format was a bit different.

Hi! Not sure if anyone has said this yet but MSAR says that the earliest acceptance date for BU is December 18, 2020 (so we know it's been updated) so no need to frantically check our emails until then🙂
So I guess this confirms what @alohafromKR said. Dec 18 can't come soon enough haha. Although I'm bracing for a hold at best given that I didn't have the strongest interview.
