Hi, I feel like I can't be the only one having this issue, but I also feel like I'm the only person I know that is actually having it.....How necessary is a non-science letter of recommendation for an A to IUMed???

Depending on your situation, admissions will allow you to sub an academic science letter for the non-science letter prereq and your file can be marked complete. Now I don't know if that will affect chances of getting an A, but I doubt it would because otherwise they probably wouldn't have let you sub it in the first place.

I interviewed on Oct 14th and still haven't heard anything. They did their second look last week though
That second look might be for MD-only. At least according to the MD-PhD Interviews and Revisit Days Calendar, there should be an MD-PhD second look scheduled from March 25-27.

Did IU already have their second look day? I've been accepted and didn't hear anything about it

I did not have one and got an A.
Has anyone gotten an A from MSTP? Or know when they are coming?
I think the first wave already happened so my guess is it'll start moving as people withdraw their acceptances. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Does anyone know whether accepted students can get access to see previous years’ match lists?

So, we will all get a decision on 3/15, right? I can’t take the wait 💀
Last wave of acceptances should come out in March. They should let you know that you’re on the waitlist after March - check last year’s threads as to when waitlist notifications come out officially. From April onwards till August, it is waitlist movement. Most WLs were notified in June last year, I believe. Check last year’s thread to make sure. This is all off of the top of my head of what I remember from last year.

Does anyone know when financial aid packages start coming out? I thought I remember them saying it was sometime in March but wasn't sure if they specified exactly when.

LOL, that was probably one of my comments but expect them to be more late March to early/mid-April. You'll get multiple financial aid updates via emails as the months go by and will definitely have the information before the AMCAS CYMS deadline stuff. However, if you have any specific, individual concerns don't hesitate to reach out to the Financial Aid office.

So how do we drop a school if we get accepted off the waitlist (god forbid I’m not accepted March 15th)

Each school has its own policies of you letting them know your decision moving forward so I'd check the individual school policies as well as AAMC policies regarding the CYMS tool (all the stuff that happens on/around April 30th).
didn't catch this during the fin aid session, but do they combine need-based and merit (if received)? or does the need-based replace the merit
I'm fairly confident they combine need-based and merit, however, I'd contact the Financial Aid Office to be sure.
also, does anyone know how clerkship grading works here?
Honors, high pass (HP), pass (P), fail (F), withdrawal (W) based on shelf scores, preceptor evals, and clinical skills assessments.

I believe that they are sending out rejections next week as well
See, last year, they did acceptances 3/15 and WL notification 4/15 and rejections a few weeks after WL notifications. The people last year said that was pretty much how it always was. I'm just praying for an email form IU on Monday, so at least I'll know.

They’ve really lost me with how terrible the communication has been.
Like I understand this is how they’re structured, but it’s just a poor structure to have rejections for everyone until the end of the cycle. Why do I need to wait that long to find out if you don’t want me when you knew that after the committee discussed me?

it’s cruel to just keep people’s hopes up. This is also my second interview with them and I’ve improved my application so I’m extra aggravated it’s taking this long because they’ve generally have been good with their reapplicants

ABSOLUTELY. There is no reason to do it this way.

I actually find their method of releasing decisions on a designated date to be more effective then rolling admissions. I also had pretty decent communications in terms of know when my application went under review etc. And I mean there were other schools that I applied to that also use that structure of waiting until the end to reject non interview applicants (which for one in particularly I ended up withdrawing from). But I mean you have been interviewed already andMonday is almost here. You should still remain positive and bc your acceptance MAY be right around the corner.

How long after your interview did you get your ADCOM review email?

I think waiting until April to reject people that they know already they plan to reject is far from ideal, regardless of whether other schools are doing it too.

I feel that. I left other interviews feeling a real connection with the interviewers and thinking "wow, I did great!" I left the Indiana interview thinking "I think??? I did well???"
Honestly same here. I felt like when I talked about personal experiences and activities in other interviews, there was more conversation, etc. With Indiana I felt like they were like okay and moved on haha

I received that email as well. I went under review in November lol. I have other acceptances so I'll be fine and Monday is almost here anyway. I'm just impatient because if I was accepted by now, then I probably won't be. There's been dates after 11/11 and that's more unseen people competing for fewer spots.

I also feel like I botched the interview😓
Man I wouldn't worry about botched interview. They made me defend myself as someone who wants to go to med school for more reasons than just "daddy's a doctor". And when they asked me how I handled conflict I used an example of rolling over and letting my roommate choose our apartment. Still got an A.
