2020-2021 Kaiser (Tyson)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Based on this thread, it looks like they have extended IIs on 8/10 and 8/31 (could be other days, too, if nobody from an II invite group is on SDN). If that same pattern holds, they could be on an II invite schedule of sending invites every ~3 weeks. So next batch could be 9/21ish but that's 100% conjecture just based on this thread's info.
Much appreciate your analysis! This process is awful ahha.

Any tips for the interview from folks who have had theirs already? 🙂 LOVE this program and am interviewing tomorrow!

For the people that got II's. Does your status say application complete and awaiting review? Mine only says application complete. Kaiser marked my app complete but I am still waiting for one more LOR. Is this a glitch in their system? I even emailed them and asked if it was a glitch but they just said they review applicants holistically which was not helpful at all.

Here is a screenshot of what I mean

Did not get II, but my status says complete and awaiting review. All my LORs are in.

Mine still only says "Application Complete" and all my LORs have been in since June. But I'm applying MD/PhD, so that could explain it if they are waiting to review those applications until later.
That makes sense. I am applying MD/PHD as well so I guess statuses are different. I only have two letters of rec in so I am confused as to why they marked mine as complete :/.

I have mine tomorrow as well! I don't think others will be able to add much other than that it apparently will be low-stress. Best of luck!

For anyone familiar with the school's admission process, how do they grade the MMI? Is it a score that's considered in your application or do adcoms look at each individual MMI you do? Asking since I used the same story to answer two prompts and I think if adcoms see that (instead of just an overall MMI score) I'll look unidimensional

if it makes you feel better I used the same story as well and applied them to two stations lol

For those who have done MMI before, are you expected to speak the entire 7 minutes? If you finish talking before the time is up, do you converse with the interviewer or? Thanks in advance!

Hey, so you will not speak the whole 7 minutes! probably 75%-80% of it will be you speaking, and the rest will be the interviewer. They'll introduce themselves briefly and then you give your response to the prompt, and then they also will most likely have followup questions so try not spend the whole time talking!

How many waves of IIs have they sent out? I’ve only noticed the first one way back in August.

@viralhiker I feel like a lot of schools have delayed waves of II's this time around. Can't be sure and just anecdotal but from SDN looks like Kaiser, and a lot of the other T25/T10 schools have not sent out many waves.

Thanks! Also, would we be able to take notes in the two minutes that we get to prepare before answering the MMI scenario?

Thank you so much! This will be my first interview and I'm so anxious :nailbiting: haha. You've been a great help!!
No prob!! Kaiser was my first interview as well!! You’ll do great and realize how overstressed and over prepared you are!! If you have any other questions or last minute panics feel free to PM me haha

Hey guys I have a specific question. I know that kaiser or most med schools require at least three letters of rec. Let's say you have a 4th letter of rec, will the secondary be marked as complete or incomplete assuming you have the three but not the 4th one? Or do you have to have all 4 to be marked as complete.

STILL have not received a secondary...sigh...

Does anyone have any sort of idea as to what order they review apps in? So far it seems as though II have only been sent to July complete applicants but I wasn't complete till around August 20 so idk how long it may take to get an app review. For the most part it seems as though they've been quite except for an initial wave of interview invites? I love this school so much it hurts

Secondary received today! Marked complete by AMCAS on 9/17 for anyone wondering about timeline stuff

..aka I have no idea the order/process they are using

For those who have interviewed, did they talk about turnaround time at all? Interviewing next week & wondering if we’ll be notified around Oct 15

From what they did last year, people were only notified if they were accepted and then in ~March WL/R’s came out

Does Kaiser accept update letters or letters of intent? One of my research projects was recently accepted for publication and I wanted to share this news with the AdCom. Unfortunately, I don't see an option to send an update on the portal.

Has anyone tried? Is it encouraged? Frowned upon?
