Sorry if this has been asked, but did UMMSM mean "systemic" instead of "systematic" in their secondary? I was thinking systemic applies to a process intrinsic to society across various institutions and systematic was more an entity which blatantly is discriminating against a group. If someone could explain, I'd be grateful!

There was some extensive discussion of this earlier in the thread. I truly don't think it matters. A lot of people think it was a mistake and they meant "systemic," but giving a systematic example certainly wouldn't be wrong either. I think you could go with a structural issue or a systematic/direct/interpersonal one.

Yeah I think at this point just go with whatever relevant life examples you have and speak to discrimination from there. I was one of the people who originally pointed out the difference between the two terms, but I think we all agree that for the sake of this app it's open to interpretation.

I have noticed other secondaries mention when the reviewers do not have access to your primary and in those cases I didn't mind repeating info from my amcas activities on the secondary. I am just unsure of what to do for this one. I don't want to repeat myself and lose the opportunity to talk about more, but I also do not want to risk my most important stories/experiences getting ignored.

I didn't see that FAQ page, but always go with whichever of their requirements is the strictest, so 2 from science faculty and 1 from any faculty.

Seems like they're backed up since multiple people (including myself) haven't been marked complete bc of LoRs. So I wouldn't reach out to them.

It's a tough call, especially since their mission statement also includes research and 96% of last year's matriculants had research. Not saying it's impossible, especially if you have amazing other experiences, but statistically it's not looking too great. :/

Even though most matriculants have done research in the past, there is still 4% of students that haven't! If you're really interested in the school and have many reasons why you want to go there, I say go for it. If you are interested in conducting research during med school, I might use the research essay to maybe explain why you haven't done research in the past (maybe you just weren't interested or didn't have the time) and how UMMSM can help you reach your research goals.

I am in a service organization, and instead of being a long-term commitment of, for instance, volunteering at only a soup kitchen for an entire month, we have the opportunity to volunteer in small shifts at as many as 5-10 different places each week/month. I really enjoy getting to be a small part of a variety of programs and making my impact in this way. However, I'm not sure if I should be listing each exact date and location.. Or should I write something along the lines of "Spring 2019 - Spring 2021, volunteering at many locations including XYZ for such and such club" ?

I was told to email again if my letters had not been uploaded a week after their first response. Just sent that email because still nothing. They never picked up a single one of my calls and I tried to go in person to find the offices empty.

I had the same situation as my sorority does a bunch of different service activities together each semester. I just grouped and labeled broadly. I probably could've added a few examples, but I felt like my other volunteering was strong already so I didn't bother and just put "Service with Sorority" and dates.
