Any M3 or above able to speak on how rotations work at this school? How plentiful are spots? Is it a lotto? Do you have to set up your own rotations?

Current M3. There are 11 hub sites linked to RowanSOM located all throughout New Jersey, including St. Joes, Morristown Atlanticare & Jefferson. About half (~100) end up staying with Jefferson, the teaching hospital for RowanSOM students. There's a lottery system you enter end of 2nd year where you rank all 11 hub sites. Most people end up getting their top 3/4, especially if you rank Jefferson 1 since it has the most spots. Everyone gets placed somewhere no matter what so no lol you don't have to set up your own rotation! You have the opportunity for electives & audition rotations outside of the RowanSOM network just like every other school when time permits.

Chances of getting Morristown? lol

One of the hardest sites to get, only has spots for <10 Rowan students. Helps if you have a connection (family member is a doc etc), might help you bypass the "lottery system". I will say each hub site has its advantages and disadvantages.

Care to elaborate on those adv/disadv if you have the time?

In general sites will differ in terms of acuity, travel time, # of students per attending, how much the student can actually do, ease of getting a good eval + letter of rec etc. All stuff to consider when its time to make your rank list. Nothing to worry about right now.

My app was marked complete on 7/28, but still hoping for a II :nailbiting: Congrats to everyone who has so far

Made a quick account but I have been following this feed since August. Received II 9/23, interview set for 10/13. Non traditional, in state student, strong ties to the state

Anyone get into rowan with low mcat. Can you pm me and give me hope lol or advice

Same here. Is it possible for someone in state to get in with a 496? Granted I have strong up ward trend (4.0 my last 82/90 credits), relatively strong EC, first generational/ORM, & 4 LOR one of which is a DO?

I am from NJ and this is my dream school 🙁

Define a low MCAT. I received a II with a 502 but strong everywhere else. They look for science scores specifically, you want a 126 in Bio/ Chem / psych. I think early decision for their school is 3.5ish and 503+. If you are close to either and strong in other areas you should have a chance.

Thank you for responding , Hopefully they look at other things

Has anyone participated in the seminars offered through RowanSOM? How were they? Which ones were particularly informative?

that MCAT score is lethal and not sure if they screen for a sub 500, but if u can retake and get over the 500 mark you will definitely have a chance. although 2020 told us that anything can happen.

For the Interview Orientation on Monday, I am assuming we are dressing business casual?

Im terrified that I will be DOA. I’m embarrassed, sad, and feel inadequate. It just sucks because as soon as I gain momentum in life something has to come and always make me not feel good enough.

I appreciate your insight and yeah I will be looking to retake, hoping for 1-2 IIs this cycle and hoping 1 school takes a chance on me..

I think so. Were you able to change your virtual background to the background Rowan provided. On Cisco Webex, I am having a difficult time changing my background. I am unable to find the "virtual background icon"

Please don't feel that way, if you decided you want to continue on this journey there are going to be many obstacles and YOU KNOW THAT, you just gotta keep your heads up and never give up . One of my friend took the MCAT 3 times, 495-503-514, now he is in his dream MD school. Keep grinding and stay positive fam.

Your score doesn't reflect you or your intelligence, it reflects your study habits and how you prepared for the exam. I have no doubt you can retake it and get above 500. Scoring below 500 means you have gaps in content. Study the content, do all of AAMC and you should get a 500+

I personally also scored low the first time (499), I retook it and got a 507 (msg me if you need anymore help)

Rowan's avg MCAT for 2019 class was 505. Below 500 doesn't look good unfortunately but if you have strong ECs or somewhere else to make up for that, you may still have some luck

New here, but have been reading all the posts for a while. Just wondering what you guys think. So i submitted on 6/30/2020, but received an email stating they had some technical difficulties to send out complete emails, so I did not actually get my complete email until 7/28. do you think since others completed after that date have already heard back, its not looking too good? Thank you

hi! has anyone been able to change their virtual background for the info sesh? i cant find the button when i log in 🙁

HI, So I downloaded the desktop app (I think you should do this, instead of using the web)
1. Once downloaded and set up is finish. It gives you an options to start a meeting.
2. Once I clicked start a meeting, it shows me a preview, in the preview at the top right corner, there is a change back tab.
3. Alternatively, once you pass the preview and the meeting has started, look for the audio/video tab on the top of the video (the place where you normally see the file and edit tabs), you can also change the background there. THIS OPTION WAS HOW I FIRST DISCOVERED IT.
