just an FYI-class is full. just spoke to Dean Watkins.

of course there will be movement on/off the waitlist but the class is full as of today.
If the class is full and there is a wait list as well, does this mean there will be no further interviews offered?

interviews are held until march, so I assume after today, some of the accepted class will not submit their deposits, which will cause movement on the waitlist (if there is one currently)...and then any more interviews in the new year will either fill those empty seats or start the wait list

Class being full wouldn't stop interviews right? As they accept probably 2X the class size due to people obviously going for options? Does that understanding make sense or is this just wrong haha

I refuse to believe that they’re somehow full on December 14th idk

I can see how the class could be full from an acceptance standpoint alone but I would be shocked if only a small handful of interviews are left. I would say even for some MD schools we are about 65-70% done with the process but that also means more interviews? Maybe this is just wishful thinking and if it is someone feel free to jump in and educate me! Dont want to be spreading fake news haha.

Haha, I promise it was confirmed by Dean Watkins on our call today.

But just because the class is full doesn't mean theyre stopping interviews. They offer more interviews than seats and they offer more acceptances than seats since people of course drop/decline their acceptance.

Yes that's correct! So right now if the class is 216 I think they've interviewed close to that number-they'll wait and see how many accept and then continue offering interviews into the spring give or take 10-20 of that number.

if anyone wants a frame of reference, last year PCOM accepted 620 students for 270 seats. multiple DO schools have likely "filled" their class by now, but ultimately accept 2x-3x the class size
Okay so being considered, "complete" at this point in time just means that interview invites are limited in nature or...

the problem/issue with Rowan is that the deposit is only $195-which is nothing compared to the 1000s $ of other schools-so even if a student who has been accepted is waiting to hear back from other schools they may just pay this deposit, keep their seat until they hear from their other choices-so that limits the movement of interviews/waitlist esp in jan/feb I think

I lived in NJ my whole life, it was a backup plan in case I didn't get in anywhere else but now I've been accepted to ACOM and possibly Morehouse, wanted to be somewhere different for the next four years!
that's awesome!!! NJ will miss you, but best of luck wherever you decide to go!!

has anyone who has been interviewed been put on the alternate or high priority waitlist?

Fourth year here at Rowan. If you guys have any questions, please do reach out ! Good luck!
thanks for taking time to answer questions!

1- looking back, how do you think you could have better prepared for 1st year? is there anything you'd go back and tell yourself?

2- what is your least favorite part about the school?

3- do you feel like it was worth it now that you're a premed? are you beginning to see the light?

thank you again!!

Hey no problem at all !

1. Do not prepare at all. I tried to prepare for about a month before medical school and it was a mistake haha. There is no way to really prepare because the rigor of what you need to do you won't be able to emulate cause the fire isn't under your ass yet. I would definitely tell myself to relax and just chill to get your mind ready for what it's about to go through. The best advice would be to get into shape physically as it really makes a difference for your energy. SO work out your body and not your brain before med school haha.

2. Least favorite part. Hmm. Look med school is hard and it sucks where ever you go. I have my issues with my school but so does everyone else at other schools. My least favorite part would probably be how short the rotations can be 3rd nd 4th year. Its like that a lot of schools though. For example, pediatrics is only 4 weeks. Most places can be 6 to 8 weeks. Sometimes its hard to get a feel for a speciality when it's that short.

3. Was it worth it? Definitely. The amount I know now and the confidence in what I Know has risen drastically since first year. I am seeing the light and am running toward it LOL ready to not be a student anymore.

Hi! Thanks for posting 🙂 can you tell me more about how the student vibe is? Do people study together etc? Also how do u feel the school prepared u for STEP/comlex exams?
Every class has its culture. But for the most part everyone is chill and willing to help each other out. The admin committee does a good job of selecting people that are dedicated, hardworking and non-gunnerish. You'll have a few that sneak in haha but for the most part everyone gets along. I love my class, and pre covid we always used to get together and do things. The school gives you the tools that you need to base your board studying off of. After going through the process, I can tell you that what you get is really based off what you put in. But my class exceeded the national averages on both Step and comlex !

Was closed at this time last year too, but they are still going to interview (as some will decide to go somewhere else)

Any other NJ resident with higher than avg states that didnt get an interview so confused? I thought I really had a shot at this school :/

Are they starting next year with accepting students for the Sewell location?

Hey just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat:
I interviewed here 11/21 and haven't heard anything about an rejection (hopefully not) or an acceptance. Just wondering if anyone one else is on the same timeline?
