Got an invitation for an interview for Tulane today! was put under review on 7/22

I know that Tulane's cycle usually ends very early. I probably won't be verified until next week (Submitted July 20), should I still consider applying? My stats are right at the median for the school

I personally think if you believe you line up well with their mission and resources that you should try. just because an app is earlier than others doesn't necessarily mean the adcom will automatically think someone would be a good fit for their school, a lot of other things are involved besides timing (although timing is important as well)

Also received an interview invite yesterday! ED applicant. Do you guys think they'll still have the standardized patient exercise even though it's virtual?

anyone else still under waiting to be under review? I submitted 8/20

Tulane was averaging about 1 month to review. For reference, I submitted 7/23 and was under review on Aug 24. Since you submitted Aug 20, I would expect they get to you earliest by 9/24. However, with hurricane Laura, it might take even longer.

Well yikes and they just give interviews as they go? Is there no way I would even get an interview because of that submission?

I don't think anybody knows how they give interviews just yet bc to our knowledge, all IIs so far have been ED. I definitely agree that it seems to be about a month before they even get to your secondary. I was complete July 14th and got a the "under review" email Agusut 10th.

You will be at a bit of a disadvantage if they provide interviews chronologically...but they might not, we don't know. So I say if you're really into them, just shoot your shot and see lol

I do wonder if the culture at Tulane and Miami is this neurotic? hahaha or i wonder why these threads specifically be going crazy LOL
nah I think its the opposite - that's why we all wanna go!!

This is not entirely true. I submitted very early and got the under review email right away instead of 1 month later. Something related to COVID must have happened that really delayed getting other applications submitted afterwards under review right away. Based on the number of applications they get, I imagine that it may take longer than 1 month for applicants who sent their applications around now.

I think there's probably some truth to that. There's definitely variability, but it does seem like most are weeks to a month. Something that I said earlier and still think could be true is that they may be doing them in batches...as in if you're at the beginning of a batch, you will have to wait longer than those at the end of the batch. Again, no support for this lol, just guessing.

Update.

Re-Applicant
Submitted Primary 7/1 and verified 8/12
Submitted Secondary 8/16.
Complete and Under Review just now 9/1

Edit: I also did have an MCAT retake and just got my score back this morning; so just wanted to share that because this entire process is emotional and grueling but trust me when I say that it is worth it.

I am a re-applicant here who last year was not complete until October and was still fortunate to get an interview and then WL. TRUST YOURSELF.

All your check marks are green?

I was marked complete on August 5th and still have the red exclamation point should I be worried?

Anyone else submit their secondary in July but still haven't been put under review? I received a secondary on July 31st and finished it within a few hours, but my application is still "in progress."

Because of corona this year, a larger number of people were ready in early July... means they had more than normal early apps, this compounded with the fact that they are working remotely, it only means that they are not yet up to the end of July!
Stop the paranoia, no news is good news right now. That red mark will change as soon as they get to you!

I apologize if this has already been asked, but does anyone not have the green check next to LORs on the secondary app even though it says they've been received?

Not at all, there are plenty of applicants who submitted before you and are still waiting to be under review. Patience will be key in this cycle as it is exceptionally slow.

I received a "Hold for Possible Interview" email this past Friday. Not early decision. Submitted secondary 8/2, Under review 8/6. Hopefully since its still early in the cycle that the "Hold for Possible Interview" will work in my favor.

You the MVP for keeping us updated! Also now curious about Tulane’s use of holds as it looks like people have gotten off holds in the past when people cancel their interviews but it’s not hugely frequent.
