First R of the cycle today (9.29.2021). OOS 2nd cycle. Definitely disappointing, but glad the narrowing process has begun. Congrats to those who received IIs!

Two pubs of mine that im a second author in just got accepted by a journal, was wondering if it’s worthy to send updates rn lmao since im complete 7/12-7/19 at this school
Might as well. That sounds pretty noteworthy to me

Omg, all I see just R, does anyone have ii? I am looking forward to a hard R soon since I completed mine around 07/27……

The R machine is working again today. Complete 7/14. Good luck everyone!

R. Complete late July. LM 76.6, WARS 83, ORM, OOS.

Not too sad about this one since Dartmouth handled the cheating scandal like crap.

Pre-II R; complete 7/21. First of the cycle 🙁 Good luck to you all!

R LM 76

not surprised because I heard they select for a really specific type of applicant. Not sure what they are looking for though.

I’m gonna take a hunch and guess that they’re looking for someone who is more “woke”. Do they strive for social justice? Is mitigating systemic racism central to their approach to medicine? Is healthcare for all a priority to the applicant? I get this vibe from their mission, their essay prompts, the reputation of their university as a whole, and from what current students tell me. Idk I got the R too- significantly lower stats (LM 68), so maybe that was it for me. Maybe I’m wrong, but the only two rejections I’ve gotten so far are from schools where these values are central to their mission and essays. Sure I want to help people, but I don’t wake up in the morning with the first words out of my mouth being “oh joy, what a beautiful day it is to pursue social justice and universal healthcare!”

What’s so embarrassing about it? It’s genuine and honest. If an institution legitimately had an issue with my priorities I had for healthcare, it probably wouldn’t be a good fit for me. As a matter of fact, I respectfully withdrew my app from three schools because of the social justice focus.

not gonna engage on this platform beyond this, since this is not what it's intended for. Social justice should be a priority for anyone entering the medical field. healthcare is a right and I wouldn't want to go to a school that doesn't consider the social determinants and inequities that are literally killing people who aren't well represented in medicine (social, racial, ethnic minorities, etc.) To say that it's not a big deal to you screams privilege. Good luck.

Well, as a white, 20s male who is a registered Republican, member of the NRA, donor to my local Pro-Life group, and subscriber to the Ben Shapiro show, I appreciate your thoughts and concerns. Luckily in America one can become a doctor even if you are conservative and aren’t considered “woke.

For everyone's sake, PLEASE make sure to mention this in interviews.
