anybody not even scored yet?? Submitted 7/10
What's all the talk about being scored, you ask?
For all who are wondering about "being scored" it is part of the very organized application-reading process at U Miami.
Your complete (primary + secondary) app, if considered competitive, will be given to 3 members of the admissions committee to read, and as they read it they will each score you in various categories. The scorecards of the 3 readers will be used to make decisions on interviews, with high point scores getting interviewed earlier. You will be notified
when your app has been scored, but
the actual numbers of your score are not revealed to you and are for the use of the committee only.
Not everyone will reach that 3-person scoring stage.
Not everyone who gets scored will end up with an interview either, but it's a necessary step along the way.
From their web page:
Screening
Each completed application is scored independently by three members of the Admissions Committee. Factors scored at this point include science GPAs, MCAT scores, diversity of life experiences and accomplishments, the meaningfulness of patient contact experiences, CASPer ®Test Score, and the quality of letters of recommendation. Screening scores are added and used to place the applicant on a ranked list of applicants to be invited for an interview. Applicants with the highest scores are invited first. This process continues until all available interview slots have been filled.
