bro this school is not worth it. they already know who is getting in and who isn't and they're treating us like s***. They acknowledged that the timing is bad but they felt SO COMPELLED to tell us all these lovely changes despite being able to push it off by literally one week so we didn't have to go through this.

Yeah this honestly has turned me off and made me question how “mindful” they truly are when it comes to student wellbeing. Unfortunately I’m broke with no As, immense debt and no family support so if I get in here (lol) I have to attend; if I had other options and/or financial stability I would not take an A from this school after this.

Ok so they don't over offer acceptances initially bc of scholarships and residencies, which makes sense.

They basically just said that if someone withdraws they will accept someone else.

Your frustration is 100% valid. They timed this webinar to flaunt such an appealing future knowing that in a week, 95% of us will realize that we didn't get a call and that none of this will come true for us. They acknowledged it! And they won't tell us anything that can help us prepare for the next week of emotional vulnerability. It's extremely frustrating and inconsiderate. I understand that the thread will likely want to move on, but you are valid esp because these changes would make such a big deal for you. I really hope you get that call. fingers crossed

Hey thank you, that truly means so much to me. It really hurt in the beginning when she said so casually that “most or all of you already have acceptances” because…I don’t. I applied to 20 schools w the fee waiver and 5 more with my own money, I literally couldn’t afford to apply to more places to increase my chances. This whole process has been so demoralizing. Thanks all who are speaking up and supporting your fellow applicants, I love to see it ❤️

Tues/Weds are going to be a nightmare. Like I can see it now, glued to SDN as people start getting their calls, trying to calculate how many spots are left and how late in the day they might call etc…i might just turn my phone off and hope they leave a message lol
 
Wait this school does phone calls? Also do we hear if we are waitlisted the same day or is it more like silent rejections?
 
Out of curiosity/anxiety, I'm wondering what specialties folks here applied for. If anyone is comfortable sharing, 👍 for IM, 😍 for peds (yay peds gang!), 😆 for surgery, and 😳 for obgyn.

I think it’s weird family med isn’t one of the specialties, unless I’m misremembering (which is very likely due to the brain worms this cycle gave me)

that's what I did for other schools that called. One of my schools would call on a Friday and I'd put my phone on do not disturb 😩 also never got that call lmao.

I will tell my friends not to call me on Tues/Wed and istg if I get SPAM.... I am from the area so a lot of my spam calls have the appropriate zip code like that will be SO RUDE

this school does phone calls, and unfortunately they never told us if/when they notify us of being on a waitlist. In past years, students were notified of being WLed a couple weeks after initial acceptance calls went out. I don't remember if Rs were reported.

I think someone reported that admissions staff said they were planning on interviewing 532 people this cycle during an interview day info session
also I'm pretty sure that was their interview invite count in past cycles per MSAR (though I no longer have a subscription so I can't verify that)

Yeah, I looked on MSAR and last cycle was 500 interviews for 24 seats.

Yep... so 5% post II acceptance rate, or MAYBE 10% if half of interviewees did not make it to the final consideration/top pool stage. Though very few post-II Rs were reported, but that is likely because people don't post bad news (which I get).

It just makes me laugh bc the dean was really trying to convince us that we're all being actively debated by the adcom when there are likely 10 applicants per seat if not more after the interview process. Transparency at it's best. Regardless, we'll know by Wednesday whether or not we got the call. It'll be over!
 
Do we think there really will be a lot of waitlist movement again this year? I'm kind of giving up hope at getting an initial acceptance at this point so I'm lowering my expectations to waitlist (hopefully!) lol.

I think so, bc a lot of schools haven't given out decisions and financial aid info. NYULISOM gives decisions pretty early so there could be movement in March and april!
 
I just checked my portal bc I keep getting financial aid emails, and I have an acceptance offer visible on the portal. Never received an email or phone call. Happening to anyone else?

Me too. In the letter, it says class of 2023. Is this a mistake??? We aren't supposed to get decision calls until next week

Edit: did not get financial aid emails
