2021-2022 NYU, Long Island

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Oh NO mine is not worded like that! "I am delighted to inform you the NYULISOM Executive Admissions Committee has completed its review of your full credentials and you have been selected for final consideration for admission for the NYULISOM class entering in 2022." Different meaning or do you think they've changed wording across the cycle? Got that in Nov
Just to add my email wording to this thread. Also received November!

"I am delighted to inform you the NYULISOM Executive Admissions Committee has completed its review of your full credentials and you have been selected to be within the top pool of applicants for final consideration for admission to the NYULISOM class entering in 2022"

This was my email wording. Received November.

do you mind pasting the email?
“I am delighted to inform you the NYULISOM Executive Admissions Committee has completed its review of your full credentials and you have been selected to be within the top pool of applicants for final consideration for admission to the NYULISOM class entering in 2022.” And another kindly worded paragraph about their selection process/criteria for applicants

Sorry to start any chaos/anxious speculation, I know it’s a stressful time for us all!

That was my wording too - so basically the same as the others minus the "top pool." Whether that was intentional or not, we will likely never know. Sigh.

thank you for sharing for this.. i guess it means I won't get it now since I am not in the top pool 🙁

ahh why is this school like this... I had no clue there was "top pool" for "final consideration"... I thought we were all either "selected for final consideration" or not. Maybe they changed the language over the course of the cycle? bc otherwise it feels like a stretch that nobody from the earlier interview dates were in this top pool. either way. why, NYULISOM, why? just A, WL, and R like everyone else

I am not sure they changed the language. I interviewed in Nov like BadaBing_BadaBoom did and did not receive that "TOP" part

ope, then I don't know. I thought that was the case cos I interviewed in September. I just think it's a little sus because nobody in the earlier groups reported this. ofc, the SDN sample is not representative. either way trying to divine this admissions office is virtually impossible LMAO nyulisom is a different breed

Has anyone been taken off the post-ii hold? Or will that movement only happen after mid-Feb?
I don’t think anyone has reported being off the hold. But I think they will take some people off the hold before February and do the final result later. It doesn’t make sense for them to put people on hold since November and not take anyone off the hold- otherwise what would be the point of sending the holds?

does anyone have more information on when we will begin to hear other than "early to mid feb"

Someone reported that the adcom said decisions will be released "around President's day" so Prob 2/18? If they want to call on Fridays.

According to MSAR, earliest the acceptance dates could be sent out is February 14, 2022

do they call? or are acceptances emailed/released via the portal?

Do people think that those who are on hold can still be in the running for an acceptance?

based on zero evidence as well, but I say chances are super slim

the few posts above were talking about how there are 2 final pools (top final pool vs regular final pool) so I assume they will pick everyone from the top final pool if they can. why else would they have that distinction?

then again, with al the specialties idk how that works. any thoughts?

I think there might be a chance for IM. But there's likely enough people in the "top pool" and final consideration pool to fill the class five times over. Last cycle there was a lot of movement the first couple weeks of decisions going out, and then things started to slow down. Though, there was some movement later on for the IM folks. Of course, last cycle was delayed and thrown off by COVID so I am not sure how good of a comparison point it is. Decisions came out in March so many more candidates had acceptances at other schools compared to February. So there may be more movement later in the cycle bc of this.

Did anyone else get that top pool email? I’m just wondering if they started that top pool later on in the cycle, as it seems like the earlier interviewees didn’t report any emails mentioning such a pool

From the November/Dec interviewees, some reported getting "top pool" emails while others got "final consideration" emails like the earlier interviewees did. I agree that the timing is suspicious b/c none of the earlier interviewees reported being in the top pool. Maybe it's sampling bias, maybe they created that pool later in the cycle when most of the interviews were done.

i interviewed 9/10 and received top pool email. not that it means anything, but for those wondering.

I don't want to be overly optimistic (I was an October interviewee and did not receive the 'top pool' specific wording), but I could totally see this as a syntax change that they phased in to clear things up - maybe even specifically in response to when they started putting people on hold. Who knows though, maybe it does mean something. It's a super opaque process, but the wording of my email was unequivocally positive so I'll hold out a measured amount of hope that I'm at least being considered.

Oh okay, that’s good to know that it was a thing since the beginning. I interviewed 9/17, so we were likely in the same batch of post-interview emails.

yea def a higher chance for IM especially since it had 14 spots (?)

i do suspect WL movement regardless of pool though. if people are getting into LISOM, they sure are getting into other great schools!

any idea what NYU Langone Hospital-LI is like? what are some considerations about the hospital and residency program are you all making?

Just wanted to jump in to say I also interviewed in October and got the "top pool of applicants for final consideration" wording specifically

Also hi it's officially "early to mid February" and the anxiety has arrived 🥲

Same. Going to work on that day and honestly, I do not think attendance matters. It's way TOO close to decision day for that to matter.

Hold up though, did we all get the same email? I wanna know if "top pool" of applicants get the same email as our regular "pool" applicants 🤣
