do they not accept updates pre-II? there's a spot on the portal to upload documents, and the website seems outdated
When I interviewed, they told us we were allowed to send updates after this point for significant things that have happened since we submitted our primary. They were pretty clear they don't accept them before interviews.

This is what their powerpoint from interview day says on the "What's after MMI?" slide: "Selection Committee will meet the Monday after your MMI and review your completed file to vote to determine committee rank. Please email updates before this."

I apologize if this question was already asked but did people send post interview thank you letters? If so, was it emailed or submitted to the portal? Ty in advance

It’s making me anxious because it seems like most people here with an A got a hold day of or day before whereas I got a hold 3 days before. Definitely I am over analyzing

It may just be that you were voted on by adcoms on a different day, I wouldn't give it too much thought. I wasn't even put on hold, but still got an A lol

I believe that is just due to the timing of the decision releases- in October the decisions came out on a Monday, which is the same day the committee meets, so people who interviewed the previous week were placed on hold that day and then some accepted that afternoon. This time though since the release date is a Friday, people who were interviewed last week were placed on hold today for decision friday.

Those who have already gotten Acceptances from VCU, were you placed on hold before you were accepted? Does hold mean waitlist or do they tell you if you are waitlisted?

I received a "Hold After Selection Committee" a few hours before receiving my A. If this is the hold you are referring to, it is not a waitlist!

For everyone expecting a decision today: I got an email with "VCU School of Medicine: Admission Decision" as the subject and there was also an "Admission Decision" tab that came up in the portal, so definitely check both! I got my email at 4:10pm EST, but they seem to go out anywhere between 4pm-5pm.

Good luck everyone!!! 😊

So are you saying that we will get an email even if we are waitlisted? And will the VCU portal update before the email is sent out? I can't wait that long! I want to know right now!

If you are waitlisted, do they still send out an email?

Official waitlist doesn't begin until March. The hold email they send out after interviews just means you were not rejected, you are on their ranked list.

From my understanding, it basically goes like:

Interview -> rejected or ranked (which is what the hold email is) -> if ranked, you might get an acceptance one of these "decision days" -> if ranked but you don't receive an acceptance by March, you are invited to join the official waitlist. -> if you join the waitlist, you may be offered an acceptance at any point beginning March 15th

I have a 507 mcat with a 123 subscore in bb, I really hope I get in but it feels impossible lol

sorry to ask again but i am hearing conflicting things. if we do not hear an A or R, we do not hear anything and just assume we r on the WL? or would we get an explicit email we are on the WL?

It seems R's are sent out on a rolling basis throughout the year, A's are sent out on the 4 decision dates and WL spots are offered in March.

Just got an acceptance! Thank God! For those waiting to hear back from VCU or any other med school, trust that it’ll work out for you! I know it’s easier said than done, but take care of yourself and try not to stress out too much! It’s not an easy journey and getting to this point alone is such a huge accomplishment - please remember that. I pray everyone gets their heart desires!

If you hear back today, you got accepted.
If you don't hear back today, there is a chance you will get accepted either on Feb 1st or March 15th.

If you don't hear a yes after March, they will formally email you a spot on the alternate list (75% get accepted every year according to MSAR). No one is added to the waitlist until March 15th.
