2022-2023 Washington University in St. Louis

Just short of ridiculous honestly. I know it’s already a WL or R. They should be more humane and let students know. I’m not sweating over it because I have great acceptances already but it’s not fair to that person that is like holding on for dear life that they get in.
Ik this isn't helpful, but I wouldn't lose hope quite yet. I interviewed in early November and got accepted in early February. I think it's somewhat random!

I feel this so hard with 0 As 😢 WashU please come through

I kind of like the slow drip approach so there's no particular date to stress about, either that or the Harvard all A/R/WL at once approach so there's only 1 bandaid ripping off day.

If I don't hear back by the end of next week I am going to withdraw.

Unreasonable or not, I am tired of waiting half a year for a decision.
if you withdraw can you send them an email like:

"With sincere regret, I must report that I have completed the deliberation of all programs and have not been able to to offer you my attendance. With so many more phenomenal and highly rated schools than I could attend, I was faced with a very difficult task.

Although you may be disappointed, my personal wish for you is that you find fulfillment in filling your medical school class. Perhaps I will have the opportunity to work with you in the future as a resident or fellow."

(no this isn't the harvard rejection email)

It looks like if we don't get the A call this Thursday or Friday, it's essentially game over (or at least the beginning of the WL game)
While I genuinely want nothing more in the world than an A here, I am grateful that the wait to find out will be over one way or the other. (November interviewee here who thought WashU was my best interview by miles. Fingers crossed...)

Thought if we didn’t hear this week then it’s a two week wait for R/WL then half of us get the bonus 1 mo wait for WL to resolve. I’m half expecting a lot more waiting. 🤔😳

Weren’t some As from last cycle reported to have occurred mar 14-15?

Oh, 100%, but to at least know whether it's A or WL would be a great step. It's insane that someone could have a great Sept/Oct/Nov interview, not be in line to be waitlisted, and simply hear nothing until they get an A in March. I know there is actual WL movement here, so the waiting would continue, but I just wanna *know*.

i'm curious why you ask this, are LOIs that influential for wash u ?

Pretty sure I’ve heard from multiple online sources washu likes them and was just curious if it rly helped increase anyone’s chances of getting accepted. But that’s all

Hi, popping back in here as a current student at WUSM. Last year I got super lucky and ended up getting to decide bw a few schools and so if anybody has any questions about WashU or just needs some general advice, please feel free to reach out!
Thanks for stopping by! I got good vibes from my interviews, and Wash U definitely has the biggest emphasis on research than any other school on my list, so I feel pretty good about most things. There's a general hearsay about WUSTL, though, that the student body is full of rigor and has an overly "gunner" mentality.
Could you give me your perspective on your class, and the general culture or impression you have so far?

wait is there actually still a chance to get in here if we interviwed pre 2023? thought it was just a WL. last few years that seemed to be the case

Idk but if they still are sending acceptances then there’s always a chance. Plus even a WL isn’t the end of the world as I’ve heard there’s a lot of movement here.

That’s my read on it too. Hoping for a miracle but A’s this week seemed to be focused on Jan/Feb interviewees in years past. Realistically hoping for an early Apr. WL email here.

Do you know when the WL and R emails came out?
Just looked and it seems like late march/early april. But I just remember looking at past WashU threads a few months ago and realizing that there was like no chance you get in if you're not accepted a month/few months after your interview date (literally one person reported an A in March from Nov interview) so I kinda forgot about this school lmao. But yeah that's just on SDN, no idea what reality actually spells out for this school...

True but without merit aid there's no point at least personally. I have heard MASSIVE waitlist movement at WashU in years past, but no idea if they pass down scholarships. Who knows. They're way more generous this year from what I remember (claiming to give >50% of class merit).
Ah I see and yes that is a very fair point you bring up. I’m not sure on their policy in regards to redistributing merit aid to those they accept off the waitlist or not

When y’all say massive WL movement what does that mean? I feel like if WashU doesn’t send post-II R’s, we’re looking at a WL pool of like 600-700 people…
