Hello! My first-author research paper was published today. I have not received an interview at UT Southwestern Medical school, but I would be extremely excited to attend. Do you think I should send an update letter to the admissions committee now, or should I wait until some future date? And should I do the same for all the other schools that haven't interviewed me yet? Thank you!

Was it part of your app saying it is being published? If not, it is a reasonable update to submit as long as the schools accept. Different schools have different timelines for updates - some before II, some after II and some don't.

Thanks for the information! I believe that I said "I am currently working on a paper," but it was not published at the time of the application.

You will need to review the policies of each school but an acceptance by a publication is a good reason for submitting an update.

I just started working on research dealing with making and applying relevant statistical models in glioblastoma imaging using genomic sequencing. I am working with a data science professor and a radiation oncologist physician who currently works at UTSW. Would this be something to include in an update letter. I know UTSW values research. Thanks!
They do value research, but they don't value update letters (or even accept them, though some have told me I'm wrong about this).
Their modus operandi is more like "don't call us, we'll call you"
if it helps, someone from my interview day asked and the admissions people said they accept updates through the portal

does anyone know if it affects our admissions status whether we do or do not attend these frequent presentations we are emailed about? my job always conflicts with them but I don't want it to be perceived as a lack of interest/enthusiasm as that is definitely not the case

Also wondering this, I thought I read somewhere they were optional, but I could be mistaken.

It should say in the email whether something is optional. My experience has been that if UTSW says it is optional, then it is. They are not out to get you

I would submit an update.

Hi guys, I know UTSW offers the weekly topical sessions but I'm wondering if they do a pre-interview social like many other schools. I didn't see it in my email, but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything!

They offer tours after the interview. The socials existed when it was in person but not sure they do them virtual now.

For those who have interviewed, when do we find out who our interviewers are. I got my interview slots, but no word on who the interviewers are going to be.

If my paper went from submitted to accepted, should I send out an update?

Are updates sent through the AMP portal - in document uploader?

If a paper is accepted it is an important update to make as long as school is accepting them.

Thanks for this!! Would you recommend I make the update on the schools portals,or should I reach out to admissions on how to make the update?

Most likely this Monday, out in waves from
4-6pm
Confirming that the first round of acceptances comes out tomorrow, but I don't have any idea on the timing. They emailed the current students to let us know.

I know it's not going to help too much hearing this, but don't think you're done if you've interviewed and don't hear from UTSW tomorrow, or even if you haven't gotten an II yet. This process is brutal, but so many people are cheering for y'all!!
