So, did anyone who got the email about being incomplete hear back today? I replied via email to the message, but no response yet.

does anyone has the usnews numbers for this school? is vs oos thanks 🙂

to anyone out there who was accepted....

i got an email from AMCAS on oct 31st saying to be on the lookout for an email about getting a background check. haven't received that email yet. anyone know how long it takes for that email to comE? thanks

I got accepted to a different school, but I got two e-mails a few days following the acceptance call, one from AMCAS, and one from the company doing the background check (Certiphi or something like this).

i think it was posted earlier in the thread, but IS: 1151 applied, 250 interviewed, 71 matriculated.
OOS: 7993 applied, 480 interviewed, 102 matriculated.
Thats from the MSAR.
Do you mean GPA/MCAT? I have that at home, I'll post later.

Yes, I think you should call. Better yet, send them a text message. That seems more your style.😉

Hey everyone,

I got the acceptance letter from RFU on the 29th, but I have yet to get the CBC message as well. Should I just do the background check anyway? Is the information available for the schools to see, or will I have to do it again once I get an actual message from Certiphi (I really don't want to shell out another 100 bucks)? I spoke with the admissions office, but the woman on the phone had no idea what I was talking about...

Does any one know when the next acceptance date this month is? I'm guessing Nov. 29th - around there?

Probably not since that's a Saturday.

Are you certain they do acceptances every month? If so, it would be either immediately before Thanksgiving or first week of December. I have no idea how they'd do acceptances the following month with the holidays and all.

Thinking like an administrator, I would send out the next round of acceptances mid-early December and then send out Round 3 at the end of January.

More speculation is welcome, however.

has anyone had interview experiences here yet? what's the school like

The next admissions meeting is on November 14, so possibly the following Monday?

could you be a little more specific?

-2 30-45 minute interviews with 2 faculty members (or 1 faculty and 1MS4)
-lunch/tour with med students
-spend a long time in the same waiting room
-first interview was conversational, nothing tough
-second interview was all ethics questions

Very good point. I would hope they sneak in an Admissions meeting before the US Thanksgiving Weekend. If the meeting is in fact Nov. 14, I'm just curious if they'd actually look at those who interviewed on the 11th!

3 days since interview and you get to know. That's just wicked!

I wouldn't say the second interview was all ethics. I had the Assistant Dean and we talked about hobbies etc. There were couple questions on ethics and the health care system but nothing too intense. Relax and it'll be an easy going time!

Is there a site that talks about the med school itself? I'm trying to find some information about the school, but having no success... I just want to know things like what makes this school unique and what not.

Hey, for information about the school, they sent out an attachment in an e-mail (maybe the one confirming my interview date?) and it included a list of a bunch of med students there who are involved in different activities. You can e-mail those students to ask about stuff (just don't do it last minute or you might not hear). That's what I did and it was pretty useful.

the website is not the most useful source...

Oh, yeah, it really depends on who interviews you. Those were just the two interviewers that I had. But, there are like 6-8 interviewers that people could rotate with, so it's really luck of the draw.

Agreed. I actually heard of a Canadian who is choosing this school over NYU. Was there something about this school I didn't know about? Hidden potential? lol

ahahaha...that's hilarious...I think that's me!!! Where did you hear about that??

I got an interview at NYU yesterday and have already been accepted to RFU. I'm declining the NYU interview but for completely personal reasons. I would love to go to school there but Chicago is just a better location for me. Also the cost of living in NY doesn't help it's case either:scared:

I also really liked the RFU campus when I went...I'm from Small town Canada so I like the suburban-ness of it.

I think zetandu read about it on premed101

Hahaha... we're all so well informed. Yeah, I did read about it in Premed101.

I think I might go to NYU (if given the opportunity of course) because:

1) It's a damn good school (vouched for by my undergrad director of medical education)
2) It's in NEW YORK! I know it's expensive but I think I'll be much happier in a Metropolis. I've always had a thing for big cities - being Chinese and all.

So If i was complete on October 6, would I have been reviewed yesterday? is that how it works?

The email they sent us with the dates had yesterday scheduled as the date for november... as far as I know, the meeting took place (but I didn't attend)... As far as I know, if you interviewed earlier but didn't receive an acceptance or rejection, then your app is reviewed again every month where they decide to either accept you, reject you, or review you again the next month... When I applied 4 years ago, I think i interviewed during the first week of October and didn't receive an acceptance until either late March or April... hope that helps.

Do you know when they start sending out acceptances? I don't think anyone here has been accepted yet, but I could be wrong...

I'm pretty sure that they send out at least a few acceptances/rejections after each monthly meeting (not sure how many days afterwards), and if you look a few posts, it looks like some of your fellow premeds have received acceptance letters... like I said, if you interviewed earlier and didn't receive anything, it just means that you'll be re-evaluated again at the next meeting (that's why there's an advantage to submitting your apps/interviewing early).

I interviewed yesterday actually. I was wondering if you knew if our interview files would have been reviewed that same day.

I apologize that I haven't been able to attend the meetings because of my own interviews for residency, but from what I know about the paperwork and files we fill out for the applicants (which occurs immediately following the interview and unfortunately causes many of you to have to wait for a while in the waiting room), I don't think there's any reason why they wouldn't include you as part of the review which happens after lunch... (again, this is speculation, I don't know this for sure)

how great would it be to come home from school monday to find a lovely acceptance letter from RFU waiting for me in the mailbox...

Thanks for all the info. So, yesterday, they told us that the students were on a break so the campus seemed pretty deserted. How busy is it normally?

Hmm... it's a pretty small campus, and really only half the medical school is on campus (3rd and 4th year you move to Chicago rarely, if ever, do you need to come back to campus)... I went to a fairly large university for undergrad so CMS has always felt really tiny to me. I would say it's about as busy as a moderate sized high school.

Do we get an email if we're on hold? Or is it those who are rejected or accepted who get emails?

i recall that the lady who gave the introduction speech at my interview said that you'll get an email if you're on hold, telling you that they'll review you again at the next meeting.

In that case, to answer mattng's question, for those who interview on the same day as the review day are most likely shifted towards the next review day. i interviewed on the same day as the last review day, but I haven't got an email for a hold, rejection or acceptance so i'm assuming i've been shifted to the review day in Nov.

By this logic, I interviewed 3 days before the committee meeting. I hope they included me in the assessment yesterday. If they did, I wouldn't be surprised that we should all receive some sort of notification early next week. Have patience!

So are acceptances being mailed out only, or do you also get an email?

I think ppl got their acceptances by email first.

for the November review date, did ppl get accepted yet? I didn't get anything in my mailbox....🙁

any news of acceptances this week?

Hi all. Accepted this morning at 9:30am Mountain Time, via email. Good luck to all. Likely not to be going but good school nonetheless!

Congrats Zetandu!

How come you're not going?? Holding out for NYU?

When did you interview?

Interviewed Nov. 11 (Remembrance Day), it went well I thought. Hahaha... that's right Podie, NYU would be my first choice for American schools hands down. RFU is a wonderful school and very similar to home - but I think in the spirit of change, I'd love to live in Manhattan.

Good luck to all and all the best!

Interviewed on Oct 23rd, got acceptance email today :soexcited::claps:Good luck to everyone else!!!

So I guess they did have a committee meeting last Friday. Did anyone who interviewed last Friday (November 14th) hear anything yet? I'm thinking we weren't included in on the reviews, or at least that's what I'm telling myself...😕
