I don't know how much help it will be, but I called Joni James and was really nice to her and she pulled my file and went ahead and scheduled my interview. I was complete 9/20ish.

The good thing is, when they actually do schedule, its for like 2 weeks in advance, not 2 months or something where you have to wait forever again.

8/14... Oh man, looking at the date in front of me makes me wince...

Don't worry. I would call them and ask about the status etc... I am gonna call on Wednesday to see whether I am on hold or something...

Yeah, good idea... I'll try calling on Monday to check out what's happening. Good luck to the both of us!

PS: patekpremed, thanks for the advice!

I know it probably doesn't make you feel better, but just remember that UNC is notoriously slow with everything. I only know of a handful (<5) acceptances that they've given out, so its still really early in their admissions cycle. Good luck with everyone. My interview is Wed. I'll post Thurs and report how it goes. Last time I interviewed there, one interviewer was great and one was terrible so we shall see....

:luck::luck::luck: I am sure you will do awesome. And while you are there, can you mention that I would really like an interview😉!

Haha, strangely enough, I think it does make me feel a little better hearing that... Thanks for your posts, and best of luck on your interview!

I was complete 10/16 (OOS) and received an invite last Thursday.

You were complete on 10/17 and received an interview invite last Thursday? When you received the invite, do you mean that you have already scheduled the interview?

I was complete 10/16 (OOS) and received an invite last Thursday.

So jealous right now! I've been complete forever (it seems like) and nothing! I take it it was a phone call? and did you choose a date right on the phone? I'm nervous they'll ask for a date, I'll give them one and find out it won't work! :scared:

Also, do you have any significant ties to NC or the school?

Congrats on the invite! :luck:

patek premed,

is this your second time around? what happened with you and unc last time?

Unfortunately, it's my third. Interviewed at UNC my 1st time and then rejected pre-secondary for the 2nd year. However, I was not expecting to get in either time (low MCAT and sGPA). Hopefully since I've pulled both up, I will have better luck!:luck:

Yes, it was by phone and Jonie asked to schedule the interview right then. However, I can't imagine it would be a problem to ask if you could call them back once you had your nerves under control and your schedule in front of you.

I do have significant ties to the state. My brother and father live in Chapel Hill, and I lived there from ages 5-18.

Good luck everyone!!

Is anyone else waiting to hear about a decision after interviewing?

I interviewed on September 24th and still haven't heard anything. I know one guy that interviewed the same day as me already got in, so that makes me kind of nervous.

For your info, I know about 7 people who have acceptances so far... one of those from early admissions (all in-state).

Is this a good sign? Or no sign at all?

I interviewed on 11/10 with 8 others. 7 girls and 2 guys. I thought the interviews went fine... now I will wait the 4-6 weeks to see what they decide about me. I am a bit nervous because of my stats:

In-state (since 8 yrs old)
29Q MCAT (12 bio, 9 phy, 8 verb)
3.54 BCPM
3.73 AO
3.61 Overall

but... worked in the school for a year and a half with the medical school helping to run 3rd year exams.
-Also, interned in simulation for a year
-Just received a job 3 months before my interview in a research lab in medicine.

I have a feeling that if I don't get in it is because of that MCAT score. What do you all think? For your info, I know about 7 people who have acceptances so far... one of those from early admissions (all in-state).
7 weeks for me...No word.

I would say no sign at all. I got that and still got a secondary. I think it is sent to everyone.

It is sent to everyone. It is just meant to inform you that everything has been received and getting to your application and looking through it is going to take some time.

Interviewed on Wednesday. Everything went fine. If you have an interview coming up, don't be nervous. Very laid back.

Who did you end up interviewing with? I am also curious how many other applicants were being interviewed on Wednesday. Are you in-state or out-of-state?

I am in-state. There were 5 interviewees, including myself. Three girls, two guys. I'm pretty sure all were in-state.

BTW, I was sick of my old user name (PatekPremed) so I decided to change it.

Cool! What did Patek mean anyway?

Interesting... So did you think that UNC went better this year than last?

Didn't get an interview last year. But, definitely went better than 2 years ago. It was a really conversational interview and they didn't "grill me" on anything.

Now comes 2 months of waiting....

Thanks!
Hopefully I will get a secondary...

This is all good to hear. I got the message about scheduling an interview almost a month ago, but Joni told me that it would take about that long to "confirm my residency status." So for now, I'm just waiting, but it's good to hear that things are slow all around. I'm a reapplicant that got strung along a bit last year, but am finally IS (about 1.5 years at this point) and just finished UC's master's program and working the in psych department, so feeling a lot better about my application.

Thanks for the reassurance!

Blah rejected. Can't say I didn't see this coming considering I'm OOS. Still liked the school. Oh well.

WOOHOO!! Received the interview date today. I will be interviewing next Tuesday. I am so excited. I received the call when I was in the library though. I wanted to scream when I got it, but for obvious reasons I couldn't. I am very excited.

Just received the rejection email as well.

Good luck to those still waiting to hear back!

Hmm.. I wonder if they lost me..? I never even got a secondary (OOS) and my primary was submitted 6/4.

Haven't gotten a rejection e-mail yet either though.

Sorry to hear some of you got the dreaded email. It's disheartening, I know. Stick with it and good luck

Man, for the first time since I can remember I DON'T want to see that little (1) on my inbox.....:scared:

Sorry to hear that some of you guys are getting the bad news, good luck with the rest of your apps.

I don't know your situation, but definitely sounds like it warrants a call..

So over 7 weeks post int and no news, does anyone have an idea what this might mean?

Bye ya guys... This is my last time posting on this thread...most likely unless I suffer a repeat bout of Mayo syndrome... considering I got rejected today... oh well, I have Southwestern😀. Good luck y'all!:luck:

Got the "we'll be in touch re: interview" email (I'm IS if you couldn't tell by my name) a little over 3 weeks ago, and called the office yesterday. Was told that they're almost done implementing an online scheduler and that I should be hearing from them soon to schedule the interview. Anyone else heard something similar?

Also FYI, Joni is out of the office til Monday 11/24. I emailed her first and got the out-of-office reply, thus the subsequent phone call.

Out of curiosity, anyone know when/how often the adcom meets?

For some reason I thought it was every other week on Wed or Thurs, but I don't know why I thought that.

it is every other monday. i am 87.5 percent sure this past monday was one of those mondays

and to just quickly expand on that-- it can take up to three months to get an acceptance. when you are initially reviewed you are accepted, declined, or put back in the stack. So UNC really does openfile reviews for the entire cycle with some rejections.

So... When exactly would my file even be presented for review? Could it be weeks after the interview?
