Hello, and good luck to all. I'm a parent of an IS student. He interviewed Oct. 6th. His Mom and I now have ulcers the size of ......(insert location here). Since 2/2/09 is a holiday anyone think we will hear something today, Tuesday? We are going on 16 weeks post interview.:bang: Thanks!
Let me guess, you guys are overprotective asian parents forcing your Child into medicine, because anything else would be below him???

haha, SDN has reached a new level when an applicants PARENTS come venting online!

Anybody know when they stop interviewing? I sent an update email this morning, maybe that will help.

OOS applicant who has survived those first couple rounds of rejections a while back.

I think february or March...I would assume february since most of the acceptances supposedly go out then.

Good One!....I was wanting to say 01/19/2009 MLK day.

lol, I thought you were serious and had some inside source that told you they weren't meeting because of groundhog day. I mean it is a federal holiday, but still...

Also, just so you know, the adcom meets every other Monday so you can use that to figure out when they meet based upon the next adcom meeting date I listed.

Any stereotype you wish to imply is fine, I will still say good luck in your endeavors.

Does anyone know if you have to be presented to the subcommittee before you are presented to the main committee?

Well, they meet every other Monday. Since they met this past Monday (1/12/09), they probably won't meet again until 1/26.

(Sorry to be repetitive - I didn't see the above posts)

Anyone else get the update letter? It basically said the committee is back in town, hang tight, some new interviews will still go out, we are interviewing till Feb 27th.

Let the news start rolling!

I did not get the update letter, are you IS or OOS and have you already interviewed or been invited to interview?

My interview was about 2 1/2 months ago, and I've been kicking myself over one answer I gave in particular to my adcom member. I have no idea if it's even something she's concerned with at all, but it's been nagging at my mind for the whole time.

Would it be inappropriate to email her with a further explanation of my answer? I don't know if that's a broach of etiquette or protocol or whatever, and I don't want to further damage my chances at acceptance if she thinks it's inappropriate. What do you guys think?

Bearferret , in my completely uneducated opinion, you'll just be reminding her that you've said that. I'd cross my fingers and hope she's forgotten.
But then what do I know? Because my own question is...

... I've spent over an hour frustrated over the UNC web site trying to find the answers to two simple questions. My interview is coming up, so

1) WHERE ON EARTH DO WE MEET? Directions to SOM point to Bondurant Hall, Suite 1001--is that where they expect to meet?

2) Who will be inteviewing us? I know it's one faculty member and one adcom member, and everything may change the last minute, but I'd still like to know.

Do they have a section of the websitewhere my questions are answered?

Thanks for the tip - I'm still waffling on what to do. As for your questions, I think that address is exactly where you meet (if memory serves). They should have told you in an email who your interviewers are going to be. However, they do change. Neither of the names I was given wound up being my actual interviewers. So I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Any other opinions on what I ought to do? I'm hoping to send this email out tonight if I'm going to send it at all.

1) second floor of the bondurant hall. Allow a little extra lee-way time, there is still some hardcore construction going on around there.
2) You should havebeen called and emailed with that info, or atleast I was.

I'm not sure I screwed up that bad. It just wasn't really the answer I would have given if I had been thinking more clearly, and it had to do with what I see as a very important point. I'm just worried because it's been a long time (longer than most who have posted in this thread), and other than a few rough spots in this one interview, my application is pretty strong.

Most people I know havent heard anything fromUNC yet, soI would say you are in the majority. From what I understand, most acceptances come out in Feb and March.

Don't worry about it. I did the same thing at a different school and it worked out fine. I would say unless it was something absolutely awful, don't worry about it because chances are - they don't remember it. More often than not, people overreact to their own answers.

I'm sure you'll get some good news soon!

They don't tell you anymore who your interviewers will be ahead of time. You don't find out who they will be until interview day. They did this because so many students got upset when their interviewers were changed.

Today should be another news day!

No, just curious.

Does anyone know what time the committee meets tonight?

Hypothetically what would happen if we missed the call? Do they send out an email notification soon after? Anyone hear anything?:xf::luck::xf:

I wonder if they even met tonight....

I was told they were meeting tonight, I'm not giving up hope yet as most people have posted that they received the phone call sometime between 8-9:30pm.

Its been quite a stressful night for UNC applicants I guess.... still waiting on that phone call!

wow, no neurotic sdn'ers got the call tonight? how odd. at least i don't feel SO bad now...

they will probably be making calls tomorrow if anything, ill keep praying

Here's to tomorrow....

Yes, there is certainly some degree of relief and *hope* when no one else was called. I interviewed in October and am still waiting ... good luck to everyone!

Ooof! I feel for you guys. UNC kept me on the line for months! They're a watched pot that never boils. My recommendation is to distract yourself with other schools you are interested in. I interviewed in November a few years ago, and I didn't get a definite response until May. I talked to UNC students who were finally accepted (incidentally, I was not) and they said they got jerked around too. Nature of the beast. Good luck!

That is good to know. It doesn't make me happy, but it is good to know.

I called today and asked if my status had changed.. she said she could only say that they were still reviewing applications... I hope that doesn't mean bad news...

I don't think that's good or bad. When they say they can't say anything over the phone, that's just what they mean. I was told that by UVA, and it turned out that there was an acceptance letter waiting for me at my parents' house. So no worries (yeah, right).

Agreed. Well I don't know about the UVA part, but the other part.

...just got the call!!! Four more years as a Tar Heel!! 😍
Interviewed on the 9th of December.
