I'm currently small-pooled and waiting for an invite for an interview. While I wait for a response, I'm just curious on the details of the interview day. Can anyone tell me what time the interview day starts at RFU? Does it start off with an introduction & presentation, followed by some campus tour, and then straight off into the interviews? How large is the group of people being interviewed on a given day? And is there just one interview with 2 or more interviewers interviewing you? They mention on the website that it's usually with a faculty, an adcom, or a senior med student. Thanks in advance for any info and good luck to all! 🙂

It starts at 8, IRC. you sit in a large room and are given a quick overview of a folder they give you, and then are pulled one by one in alphabetical order for your first interview. Sometime during this process, the Dean will come in and speak with you and take questions about the admissions process, etc.

Then, you are pulled for your second.

After everyone is finished, the entire group goes to lunch/tour.

Thanks He2! How large was your group? And when did the entire day end roughly?

btw, if you get the asian interviewer in physiology. Be ready to get grilled.:meanie:

or a sweet old pediatrician that asks you math riddles and ethical questions that have right answers that are wrong. 🙄

Small pooled 11/2... got an interview invite today! How long after interviews do they usually send out a decision?

It seems to depend on when you interview. On 11/5 a few people got accepted and their interview days were 10/26 and one during early October. The admissions people did not tell us when the committee meets, so I have no idea how often they do or if they usually do it once a month, etc.

oh ok...thanks. I wasn't sure if I needed to send in an update just to make sure they know that I am still interested. I've graduated, so I don't have grade updates for them and such...

how is your first year going?

first year is going ok. the big problem for me is that ive never had so many hard science classes all at once - i have also learned that i hate biochemistry. luckily, we're about 2/3 of the way through that class already. 😀

its not a promise that dean ross will come and talk to you. i think he tries to get in there with every group, but sometimes he's busy.

also, if your first two interviewers make conflicting reports, you go for a third interview with the admissions chair while everyone else goes for lunch. it happened to me, so don't get too worried if you end up in this situation. and dont worry, you can get your free lunch after the tour. 😉

i think most groups are between 10-15 people. and expect the day to end early afternoon...around 1:30. but if you have to go for the third interview like i mentioned, that will add another hour.

(oops, i missed a question i should answer 😳)

last year the general consensus was that the adcom met once per month, typically near the beginning of said month - then decisions went out early the next week. as it got to be later in the admissions season (like march/april), meetings got to be twice a month. while im not certain what the procedure is this year, i cant imagine it has changed substantially.

They get their reports in that fast? geez

Congrats! When is your interview? (You don't have to tell me the exact date, just a general timeline to see if they are filling in Dec/Jan/Feb interview slots.)

ok Rosalind, me and you are SO over!
🙁

That is pretty messed up. How could you get small pooled before like 1000 other people, but then like 500 of those people get interviews and you don't 😕

That's a prime example of why I will never understand this process...i'm in the same boat as onemcataway 🙁

Thanks for sympathizing 🙂! their small pool means nothing to me anymore =/

its their loss 😉

I was small pooled 9/21 and no invite since. It seems like most people who got an interview got one after a week or two of being small pooled.

Anyone heading to Chicago on Sunday?

I'm arriving at O'Hare around 1:30pm. Anyone heading to Waukegan Courtyard Marriot wanna split a cab??
😀😀

Are they still dishing them out at this point? I was complete a little late. Has any one gotten an invite recently? Anyone still waiting/hopeful?

I was complete 10/20 and still waiting and hopeful 🙂

complete: 9/1
small-pooled: 9/21

and nothing since then...

Spoke to a very nice person on the phone and who said they will be interviewing until MAY this year!

At the interview they gave us a little book that had a timeline type thing and it shows interviews going through May and acceptances coming out Dec-July.

Maybe those super late interviews are there to fill up the wait list in case the class doesn't fill early on.

complete: Aug. 25
small-pooled: 9/17

we are in the same boat. i'm sure they are behind just like every other school is right now

When's the next adcom meeting??

They don't say. It's like double secret witness protection or at least that's the impression i got during interview day. They just said "once a month"

Instead of all the stress with figuring out the train and all that, I just took Airport Express. About 40 bucks each way. They have a station near baggage claim in the airport and will drop you off in front of the school or at the hotel. You can also make reservations for them to pick you up at the school after the interview and go straight to the airport. The driver was reliable and actually came 20 minutes before my reservation time to pick me up.

Hey Ilovewater or anybody else that has experience with the Airport Express shuttle - where did you have the shuttle pick you up at the school after your interview? I was trying to reserve the shuttle, but wasn't sure if I should chose the Science Building, Building 101, 201 or 301.

Thanks!

Hey, just choose the Science Building. They'll pick you up at the main entrance of the school. Hope that helps. =]

Don't lose hope. Mine was over a month, if I recall correctly.

Hi everyone...

I'm new to sdn...but I love the feedback I've read so far...

I just got "small pooled" today, although I'm not sure how excited I should be.

It seems like if you've been "small pooled", you've met the basic requirement for further consideration of your application. Does anyone know what criterion they focus on once you're in the "small pool"?

Thanks

when do we think the committee is meeting again? today and next week are the only thursdays left in november... think they'll meet today or on thanksgiving?

I'm gonna guess today, but they could just do early next week as well. I got my decision at around 3 pm tho. so GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!

I thought they only met once a month and people got decisions on 11/5 so that would mean no meeting until dec

i thought they met on the 29th. and people just got decisions on the 5th... i could be way wrong tho.

Do they send out rejections through the mail or email? I've been complete for a while and heard absolutely nothing. I would love to know one way or the other soon! Eek.

Small pooled today. I was complete on 10/07.

I was smalled pooled 11/18....and was complete on 10/15....

I wonder what factors they look at more closely once you're small pooled...

good luck to everyone!

my vote is for this.

edit: ok, almost. i think they met in late october, but will not meet again until the first week of december. hence, no november meeting.

I was small pooled late september and still no interview invite? Is there still a chance to get an interview?

gahhh i interviewed mid-nov. does this mean i won't find out until late dec? or do they send out final decisions right after their meeting? i was hoping to find out before christmas...🙁
