gahhh i interviewed mid-nov. does this mean i won't find out until late dec? or do they send out final decisions right after their meeting? i was hoping to find out before christmas...🙁

I interviewed early november. Logically I think they would just move the november committee meeting to early december because of thanksgiving instead of piling two months worth of interviews in one committee meeting in december...

all just speculation though maybe they enjoy being inefficient.

Does anyone have any statistics on how many apps they get and how their interview cycle runs? RF was the last secondary I received and the last to go in (this morning in fact!)

Did I just waste my money? Any encouragement?

They interview well into May! So I think you still have a pretty decent shot 🙂 chin up!

I submitted my secondary the day before their deadline. December 15th, I think.

Just got an acceptance letter from RFU! I interviewed Oct. 5 and was placed on hold earlier this month. I sent them a status update immediately, letting them know of a couple new developments. I'm glad the decision was made so soon! Good luck to others!

ACCEEPPPTANCE! FIRST ONE!!! interviewed nov 2nd

will remember this for the rest of my life!!

Accepted today as well. First acceptance! Congrats to others who heard the good news today. Interviewed 11/3.🙂

Accepted off the hold list! Interviewed on 10/20. Pleasant surprise, but I'll most likely withdraw.

Any idea if its bad news if I've been small pooled since september with no news? this waiting game is agonizing

It's not "bad news" because almost everyone who got an interview had to wait in the small pool. Just give it time.

Was the small pool notification sent via email? I have been complete for about a month and haven't heard anything.

Also, would it be a good idea to send in an update letter? I did some physician shadowing today for the first time. I have plenty of hospital volunteering and research, but no shadowing until today. I am not sure if I should let them know about this or not...

Don't bother. I tried sending an update pre-interview, and they don't accept them until after you've interviewed.

Are people who are put on hold notified today too? I interviewed Nov. 2 and didn't get any notification of anything 🙁

Yeah I have no notification of anything today neither 🙁.. doesn't seem like anyone received a Hold today yet.

I was small pooled too last week...is it true that almost everyone that is small pooled gets an interview?

Accepted today! I also interviewed on Nov 2nd.

He2 and Phosphorous, looks like we were in that little group together!

FIRST ACCEPTANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Interviewed Nov 2nd

for those who were put on hold before and got in today (congrats!! btw), did you send in updates? thanks..

if i've been small pooled since september with no news..does this mean it's over? small pooled 9/24

id say so, all over. In fact maybe its time to start reapplying for nxt year?:scared::scared::scared::scared:

Small pooled 11/2. Please share your 3k member knowledge with me about my standings 😛

Oh man, I completely forgot about this school until I just got an email from them reminding me to finish my 2nd apps. Is it too late? I will finish it dec.1st! But would it be wasting my money to finish it? It's just that this was the only school that I applied out of state for and for some reason I completely forgot about it. Do you think I've got a good shot for this school? 32MCAT and 3.75 gpa

haha...in case it wasnt obvious i was joking it just gets old seeing people say like omg its been barely a few months ITS OVER OMG ALL OVER THE WORLD ENDS NOW RIGHT? :scared::scared::laugh::laugh:. Everything is fine and unless you get a small envelope saying otherwise you are still in it.

Haha I was joking too man, no worries.

i think the problem with sdn is that it's so full of people who are beyond awesome and way on top of things, that everyone on here starts getting interviews and acceptances really early - way before everyone out in the real world- and it just scares the hell out of everyone who doesn't get in by nov.
This is a long *** process, and especially for RF. Their packet they gave us has them interviewing into May! Stay strong (I know I know! Easy for me to say right?)

Interviewing into May is very long. Wow, I did not know that, and thanks for the updates. 😛

interview end of month. how long does it take before they let you know if you are in or not? reading on here it seems for some ppl they waited close to 2 months.

They have rolling admissions and meet once a month so it'll depend when you interview. If they meet and don't accept you at that first meeting after your interview, your file rolls over to the next meeting where you will be considered again.
I interviewed the monday before their meeting, was accepted at that meeting and was notified a week and a day after my interview. It can really vary

I guess you interviewed on the same day I did eh? I was the Canadian there! I think I know who you are!

i skimmed the thread but couldn't find the information, but i got an e-mail that says:

Your file is complete and has passed a primary screening. This means you are in the pool of applicants who may be invited to interview with CMS. However, this does not guarantee an invitation and you may be invited to interview or declined an interview at anytime during the admissions process.

CMS is interviewing from September- May, with invitations being sent out via email. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
Is this the small pool everyone is referring to? If so does it mean good shot at interview? (I submitted secondary mid September, marked complete mid October for reference).

edit - nm, skimmed a little more thoroughly and found a Medical Student reply:

It's a little better than complete. It means they've gone through your file, and although they don't want to reject you right now, they're decided not to invite you for an interview yet. They might choose to invite you anytime between today and April/May, or might not all.

Just keep hope alive. That's all you can do now.

it is a good thing. You have survived the first screen and are now in a smaller pool from which they draw their potential interviewers.

almost the definition of a glass half full or half empty situation...

Small pooled today. Complete notification 10/15. Sill hoping......😎

Oh. I'm sure this has been asked before, but does anyone know roughly what percent of this "smaller pool" actually do end up getting interviews? And what percent of applicants get "small-pooled" to begin with? Does this initial screening process weed out that many people?

It seems like it would be useless for them to send out the e-mail if your chances of getting interviewed have neither increased nor decreased.
