well, actually, they have increased. they = chances. so lets say bfr you were in a large pool with everybody that applies. theres 9000 ppl in there. now, you are in a smaller pool with 5000 people. your chances have gone up...but you still are not guaranteed to interview...

anyone know if RF has any sort of second look day in spring?

I guess you interviewed on the same day I did eh? I was the Canadian there! I think I know who you are!

Haha wow. I remember someone saying they were canadian but I can't put a face with it. I was so nervous/excited that it's all really a blur.

Oh. I'm sure this has been asked before, but does anyone know roughly what percent of this "smaller pool" actually do end up getting interviews? And what percent of applicants get "small-pooled" to begin with? Does this initial screening process weed out that many people?

It seems like it would be useless for them to send out the e-mail if your chances of getting interviewed have neither increased nor decreased.

If you scroll through this thread, I think it was rare for anyone to get an interview invite before getting into the small pool. Not only is it a 'good thing' but I think it even might be a necessary step (edit: for most!).

can you still get an interview if you haven't even been small pooled?? 🙁

Yes. I got an interview and eventual acceptance without being first small-pooled. The one caveat is that I was invited prior to any small pooling. Hope this helps!

This is what happened to me. I never got a small-pooled notice but just got an interview invite at the end of october. So don't freak out if you don't get small pooled. At least i was unaware that i was even in that before they emailed me to interview with them.

I received this email when I finished my application...

"Dear Applicant;

This email is to notify you that your materials have been received, and your application is complete. Your file will now go through an initial screening process. CMS notifies applicants of status changes through email and/or mail."

I was just wonder if there was a way to check application status online or do I have to rely on email/mail to find out updates?

You have to email them for the status, they answer whithin 1 hour

I got into CMS!

Small Pooled: 9-17
Interview Invite: 9-23
Interviewed: 10-20
Accepted: 11-23

I keep getting emails from Rosalind: Thank you for initiating your application for admission to The Chicago Medical School. The CMS Admissions Office would like to remind you of our Supplemental Materials Deadline. The Supplemental Application with the application fee must be received or postmarked by December 15, 2009.
However, I mailed in my supplemental application with the fee a few months ago. Should I be worried? Is this just an email they send out to everyone? How can I check my application status?

I'd say give them a call, unless there are others who got this too a couple months sure gives them enough time to mark you as received and while you are at it they'll probably complete you faster when you call to remind them 😉

good luck 🙂

For those who sent in updates, how did you go about doing it (Electronic/paper/etc...)?

What types of things did you include in your updates?

I sent in an update via email the day I was placed on hold. A research manuscript for which I was a secondary author had been accepted for publication a couple weeks earlier. I told them about this, and mentioned how I looked forward to moving on in the application process with Rosalind Franklin. I don't know how much it helped, but I was accepted a few weeks later - so it can't hurt!

Complete 10/02, small pooled today! Looking forward to an interview, hopefully!

what did you ask when you called?

Just my status and the number of "screenings."

A person just mentioend that they got small pooled today and they were complete in beginning of Oct. It seems I am in for a long wait then as I got complete email at the end of Oct.

Just wanted to tell you guys good luck! I know most of you guys will get in!
And if you don't, don't give up!

I was complete 10/20. Sent email for status update - still in "primary screening" (not sure how many screenings they have😕)

Just withdrew from an acceptance. I hope it goes to someone here! Best of luck you guys!

Try sending it again when they're actually in the office. I sent one yesterday morning and got a response in about half an hour.

What did you say in your email

To Whom It May Concern:

I'm sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if I could get an update on my admissions status for Chicago Medical School. The last information I received was a complete email toward the end of October. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
Girfaroo

Has there only been 1 notification of acceptances?

I was complete on 9/1/09 (only after I sent an email to confirm it, as I sent it in the mail July 23rd).
Small pooled 9/24
Interview Invite (for November) 10/8
Interview 11/10
Placed on "Hold" - 11/25

My stats are not that great, I am non-traditional. I applied last year with a few interviews and got nothing, so I worked in healthcare for Baxter.
29N - 3.9 (2007 BS in Biomedical Engineering) - IS
Have research, work experience and volunteering.
God, really hoping to get accepted to med school for Christmas....

They meet once a month so you'll have to wait a little while to hear again

has anyone been small-pooled lately? I was complete at the end of october, and i emailed them earlier in the week--they said i was in the "preliminary screening" phase

Same here - complete 10/20

Anyone know anything about the courses? Are available recorded with audio/video? Or is it mandatory to attend all class. Just painful seeing 9-4pm class everyday.

They emailed me back that they never received my Secondary!
Even though I mailed it in August!
WOW

Almost all lectures are recorded and accessible online. Attendance is required for labs and a few small group thingies. Usually, lecture is from 9 to 12, sometimes 8 to 12, and labs are about 3 afternoons/week. You can see our current M1 schedules here:

Yeah, I know the supposedly meet once a month, but people were notified that they were accepted 11/5 and 11/24. I was notified on the 11/25, so I was hoping perhaps other people heard on 12/5. 🙂 Perhaps they meet every 3 weeks (which is almost once a month) and we will hear next week? Gosh the suspense is killing me. I am leaving for Costa Rico on 12/28, and if I don't see an update on SDN of people getting accepted before I leave, I'm going to go crazy!
On a second note, I guess I'm not that surprised I got put on hold. Most of the people who got accepted had interviewed a week+ earlier than me.
What kind of status updates are people sending? Like I said I'm non-traditional, and not much has happened to me recently. I was put "in charge" while my boss was out of town, but I don't think there is anything worthy of a status update.

I haven't heard a peep and I was complete in september....hm :scared:
