^gunner.😀

Yes there are pillows, blankets, towels, and soap, but no, Olin Hall does not provide deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste, or toothbrush- bring your own or be duped into looking and smelling like yesterday.

WashU most definitely DOES provide all the things he mentioned. Whether or not you want to use a product to which you might be allergic, or give up the brands you're comfortable with for one day is up to you. But they definitely give you the option.

Weird. Did you not get them? Because they definitely gave me a little ziploc bag with deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste and a toothbrush. I had brought my own, anyway, but I thought it was pretty nice of them.

I received an email invite at 11:34 pm on Friday ( Dec 4). I thought that was very weird.. I guess the committee works really hard this time of the year.

None of the dates for Dec were available so I had to choose one in Jan. Anyone else interviewing in Jan?

yay got an interview invite the other day! flying to st louis for Jan 5th interview...anyone else gonna be there?

I'm interviewing on Jan 5th too! Nervous/excited!!!🙂

Looks like we'll have a good SDN representation. I'll be joining the both you on the 5th 🙂

Congrats, everyone! 👍 I was very impressed with how organized and NICE everyone was at Wash U. It's a fun interview. 🙂

Hey, anyone know when the next admissions meeting will be, aka when they will send out next wave of acceptances?

i'm also wondering about this!

anyone have the inside scoop?

Just got an e-mail regarding Second Look. It is gonna be April 9 -11

Woo!! Yay second look!

Edit: And I got a really nice hand-written letter from one of my interviewers yesterday. Wash U and it's peoples are really nice. 🙂

does anyone know how late they send out interviews? 🙁

Me too. As far as private schools go this is my #1 so far. The anticipation is killing me.

I guess for now I'll leave my schedule open for second look just in case.

I was just there again a few weeks ago, and they mentioned Dec. 15th as the next meeting. Not sure if that's true or not, but that's what I was told.

I got a hand-written congratulations letter from my interviewer too! I wouldn't be surprised if all of the interviewers do this when someone they interviewed is accepted. Wash U people are super nice. 😍

Looking forward to meeting you all at second look weekend! 👍

yo does anyone know how much of your app interviewers get to see? do they see gpa/mcat?

I don't know about GPA/MCAT (never came up during conversation), but my interviewer certainly knew all of the activities listed on my application VERY well.

Oh man, so true. WashU was my first interview and I felt like everything I was saying was stuff that my interviewer already knew. I tried building on what my application said, but I was far too nervous to do that fluently. Hopefully it doesn't screw me over too badly 😛.

My first interviewer... not sure. My second interviewer (the quality control one) knew. He didn't even interview me. It was kinda weird. I sat down and he was like "Let's be real. You'll get into almost anywhere you want. So I want you to be as informed as possible about Wash U, so you ask me questions. Go."

I am almost positive that I had the opposite experience. I got the sense that my non-QC interviewer had seen my numbers. QC interview was definitely blind and much tougher. Who knows? Either way, WashU rocks.

24% or so...you interview yet?

I thought it was higher than that? Like 33%?

EDIT: Although I think that includes everything, including people who are waitlisted and then accepted

From US News Fall 2008 admissions data:
3114 applied, 1156 interviewed, 346 were accepted, 122 enrolled

Hey girlies applying for the Olin Fellowship... Are y'all taking your PS and retweaking it for the essay? If so, how much? I feel like I basically covered it all in my PS, except "what you expect to derive personally from advanced study." Not sure I even understand that statement. Whatever.

Just got an interview pretty excited. Re-applicant so wasn't expecting this.

Interview invite here as well. 12:34 pm 12/12 (hah hah! it's 12/12! That's awesome! Yes I get distracted this easily). Looks like available interview dates are mid january (for me) - but I think it's different for different people. I was complete a REALLY long time ago - 7/7.

Totally humbled that such an awesome school picked me for an interview - here's hoping I can keep up the momentum :xf: But really, I'm just excited for the pizza

Yeah, it looks pretty similar to the PS prompt- motivation for medicine, etc...probably should make it a bit different from the PS and more specific to Wash U if possible, though.

Congrats, everyone! 👍 You'll enjoy interviewing here. :biglove:

hey they havent been rejecting preinterview yet have they?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. The "why medicine" part just seems so PS-y. I'll see. I've got time.

ok. just signed up to interview on Friday, January 15th. Anyone else that day?

Additionally, do you guys who have interviewed recommend staying on campus at the Olin Residence Hall?

Hey! Quick question: how far is the airport from Olin? What is the best way to get from the airport to Olin? Do they provide transportation? Is there a bus or do we cab it?

Thanks!

Also, is there a schedule for the interview day? I don't seem to have one in my email and didn't find one on their site.

You'll get a detailed schedule when you get there and one will show up on your WashU applicant portal a few days before your interview.

Olin isn't 5 star quality. Kinda prison-like but it works. And is convenient for getting up the next morning. Plus you'll be around all the other interviewees.

thanks for the info!

lol.....its not???!? aww....what a disappointment 🙄

if i'm going to be there for two days (coming in on january 14th and leaving on the 16th) would you (or anyone else) recommend staying in olin both nights or staying at one of the hotels on campus (like parkway hotel IIRC?) for the second night?

Depends on what you plan on doing the extra night. I'd say stay in Olin cuz it's cheap and convenient. If you want to go out and see the city and stuff, you might want to find a hotel that is closer to wherever you want to go.

I'd say stay in Olin. The metro makes it super easy to get anywhere you'd really want to go, and the Central West End stop is about a three- minute walk from there. There are stops for Union Station, the stadium, the Arch, etc.

A quick question: has anyone requested your letter writer to send the LOE directly to WUMS admission? What is the address to send the letter to? Can we send an electronic version? Thanks!

Silly me: "Your letters of support can be submitted by E-mail ([email protected]) by secure web server (such as InterFolio or Virtual Evals) or by mail. They should be directed to:

Committee on Admissions
Washington University School of Medicine
Campus Box 8107, 660 S. Euclid Ave.
St. Louis, MO 63110-1093
"

Seems like email can only be used by ecure web server (such as InterFolio or Virtual Evals).

Both had definitely seen all of my application.

wow, washu recruiting is intense and personalized! not only do they send handwritten notes from both of your interviews (if you had two) but also hand-written notes from random, nice first years! wow!

Wow. I didnt receive anything at all. Nothing from my interviewers nor any studets. thats depressing. 😳

Yeah, I got a letter from one interviewer, an email from the other, both post-acceptance congratulating me on my acceptance and telling me to call them with any questions. No letters from first years though.

I got handwritten congratulatory notes from my interviewer and a random first year student as well! Wash U is so nice! 🙂

So apparently today was supposed to be the next admissions committee meeting? Do they decide on all the files that they've interviewed since their last meeting, or just as much as they are able to get to? And, on a related note, did anyone get any good news tonight? 😀

Check your application status page. Well the homepage when you login. It'll have a big "Congratulations!" if you get accepted. Don't know when they change them though.

Wow! 🙂🙂
Literally just got the email. I had completely given up hope on this school!

Complete: August 13th... (!)
Interview Date: Late January

I hate you for telling me that. Hasn't changed yet!

I also hate whoever said that today was the next meeting. I've been jumpy all day today, just in case they got to my file.
