I was complete 8/31. From what I've read, a complete email indicates that they've reviewed my app at that time. Is that correct?

I called in to the office and they said my app had been reviewed but the committee didn't make a decision yet. I'm a little worried that it's been 6 weeks with no response after review. Has anyone who was complete for a long time been given an interview invite? I wonder how often they consider reviewed apps for interviews if they've been put to the side after initial review.

I received an invite just over a month after being complete. I don't think you're all that behind schedule, so try not to worry too much.

That's good to hear. If complete actually means reviewed, and you received an invite over a month after being complete, then maybe I shouldn't worry.

But if complete means that the app has been reviewed, my concern is being reviewed and having the committee not make a decision. In my mind that says future pre-interview rejection. I know there's nothing I can do at this point, but it's still hard not to worry. Damned admissions process...

I don't think complete means reviewed. At every other school complete means that your stuff has been received by the admissions office and the office acknowledges that they have received everything. But who knows.

As you said, it's out of your control, so don't worry about it.

Accepted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Interviewed 9/7. Got the call at 11:30ish 😍

Wooops! I meant 9/10! I got the date confused with another school I interviewed at that week, but not trying to lie or anything! Just was super excited didn't re-read after I posted.

For what it's worth (and it may not be much), I interviewed on the first day (9/9) and haven't heard anything yet.

Just decided to send my primary on Friday lol

interviewed a week after...

the anticipation is KILLING me.

I called the office today and it turns out my application is in pre-interview hold. Looking like a future rejection for me...

Interviewed 3rd week of September...

JUST GOT THE CALL! 9:30PM EST!

YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"pre-interview hold" - does that mean you're getting an interview? That sounds good to me.

Wait, can we call the admissions office to ask our application status--or is that a faux pas? I seriously don't know? Is it something that depends on the school? Please let me know.

Pre-interview hold means that they're reviewed my app and haven't rejected me but haven't come to a decision regarding an interview yet. So they set it aside and may or may not evaluate the app again later. Supposedly there isn't a system they follow when deciding to re-evaluate according to the assistant dean, so things are looking pretty bad for me right now.

I'm probably in the same boat... don't really feel like calling the admissions office to confirm it tho. 😕

Has anyone received notification that they were rejected or put on a waitlist yet? I suspect this may be my fate since I feel like my student interview was a fiasco on the order of "Would you like some salt with that foot you're currently eating so well?"

I'm really good at shooting myself in the foot (both literally and figuratively), hence my username. The upside is that it does make life a bit more humorous.

Good luck to all of you more eloquent interviewees!

Don't lose hope, I thought my faculty interview didn't go too well either, but I just got the acceptance call last night 🙂 (interviewed just over a month ago)

Good luck!!

Secondary received 9/8 just got the complete email (10/20). Silly.

dang it took 6 weeks when you submitted that early?

i just submitted mine on monday lol.

are my chances significantly hurt?

Thanks for the encouragement. Here's an example of how epic my blunders were:

While talking about what I'd do if I didn't go into medicine I first mentioned teaching because that interests me and I always seem to be doing it in my jobs anyway. But I couldn't stop with that, oh no. I had to mention that I had considered engineering. I listed a few not so eloquent reasons why I thought engineering wasn't the best fit for me and one of them was how I thought the structural engineers I knew were a bit hierarchical and rigid (or something like that). I tend to be brutally honest, and after saying that I followed up with: "Let me guess, you're an engineer" not because my interview was either of these things (because he was actually the opposite) but because I've got the kind of luck that makes these unfortunate coincidences surprisingly frequent. Sure enough, my interviewer had a PhD in engineering.

I said a few other dumb things too, but the cherry on top of it all was that at the end of the interview I asked for my interviewer's name again so I could send him a thank you card. This isn't usually a bad question except that he had to remind me we had the same first name. Of all the places to forget a basic bit of information like this, I had to choose JHU. Stellar!
